  1. I have same interview date as you and I was thinking of flying out the 12th but I don't want to bring myself stress so I'm flying out the 18th, well prepared though to possibly have the papers by the 9th of course, but I'd rather that than to be waiting by the mail box because I have a flight to catch!

  2. If you are there on July 1st, then we can meet!

    Sukie in Oz

I'm July 1st! See you there! I'm a bit worried that it doesn't seem like I need to take very much except copies of things which they have all the originals of.. I'm nowhere near having 400 pages of stuff like some others say they do. I have 5 folders of 10-15 pages each at most. Have you prepared everything yet?

  3. just for piece of mind knowing where the package is ! Some might want to change their interview appointment and they can't do that until the package is at the embassy. I have spent so my months not knowing the status of my file... I'll be tracking mine. The embassy told my husband it moves super fast once they get it.

Ah ok, thanks for your response! I'm not really worried, there's a month till my interview maybe at some point I'll track it for my peace of mind but for now I can't figure out how to do it even though there's the 'how to'. haha.

  4. Found out yesterday that my interview will be July 1st.

My NOA1 April 2013, so for some reason I'm not excited? I probably don't believe it.

I'm thinking of going against all the advice and booking a flight in advance, but probably 3 weeks after the interview to be safe. Flying from Australia it could mean the difference of $1000 to book ahead of time so I feel like it's a calculated risk.

  5. Its true. the system is ridiculous. How can people that are married and committed wait longer than people who are dating? AND in most cases (from what I've seen on here, have only met once or twice)

We planned to get married and do it that way but our attorney said this would be half the time for a K1

We are in a bit of a different situation than most. My partner has lived with me for 5 years in Australia and has PR. We could not move to the USA due to DOMA (same sex couple) but we would have been married and doing our thing years ago if we could have.

We never thought we would be able to live in the USA so we just settled here. Thank goodness the law changed last year, i don't think she could take being away from her family for much longer.

I really hope you get your interview soon. The waiting sucks. it even sucks for me and I haven't had to wait at all. (Im a bit of a control freak and HAVE to know whats going on though so its doing my head in!!!)

Yeah we lived together after we got married overseas until April 2013 when I came back to Australia for a 'quick' stay until this visa thing was over. Now still waiting! Ugh I'd better win the lottery to even out my terrible luck for no reason.

  6. Yeah our time line is true! 13 days from NOA1 1 and I think its around 2 months all up from noa1 to interview! AMAZING! (Sorry to the folks still waiting!)

Im not sure of any of the details with when it got to NVC, etc. Im going through an attorney from LA who does it all for us so he gets notified. It just so happended that my partner got this email at 4pm today so we found out (att is asleep right now im guessing!)

Are you on a K1? 1 year? Thats crazyness. What happend?

No not on K1, we've been married since 2011.

Nothing happened, no problems with our case.. Just unlucky? If I'm honest, the envy I feel seeing K1s move so fast makes me tear up.. but that's how life goes!

  8. When did NVC tell you that your case was complete?, You haven't mentioned a date and I can't see it in your timeline. And when you mean the official case complete are you refering to the interview letter?

What I mean is, that an NVC representative has told my husband that our case is ''ready to go'', meaning no checklists or things to re-send, but we are waiting to officially receive ''Case Complete''. I wish I had an interview date!! I was so excited back in December thinking we could possibly get through NVC stage in about a month, and now we've been stuck waiting still until now.

They lose marriage and birth certificates a lot there. That is a huge data protection issue. Where are they ending up? In the dumpster outside?

I know! It's almost amazing how casually they say ''Oh yeah, I guess we misplaced your certificates so you'll have to resend'' ... That put us back about 4 weeks and me about $150! No problem, sheesh.

  9. We waited 9 months for NOA2, and right now we're at NVC.. have been told that our case ''is complete'', but we still have to wait to get official ''case complete''. This process has ruined me. In the past 14 months I've seen my husband for 8 days. Every time we almost booked a trip, we got false hope and stalled. Also, it's quite hard for him to get time off. Although we're at this stage which may seem like it's the end, it can easily be another 4 months, and probably will be considering our record of luck.

Every day I see people on here getting processed so fast and it breaks my heart. We have had no issues with our case besides that they lost our marriage and my birth certificates (?!) so had to resend.

We have both contacted our congress and a few weeks ago the California congress rep requested an expedite of Sydney due to long process time and they denied it. What more can I do? I've had to stop working because I'm a wreck. We were told by NVC if we submit an expedite request due to hardship proven by medical papers, it stops our file and if not successful can just be a waste of time.

I would do anything at this point!

  10. i met my spouse when he was living in UK illegally~ as he had payed 5k to get in there without having a passport stamp and stayed 4 years to work~ i the female am the us citizen~ do i have to submit a police report from him living in england?

He will have to provide police clearance checks from every country he lived from the age of 16 for a period of 6 months or more, so yes he will need police report from England.
  11. Sorry I know I can look at timelines but I would love someone to tell me, after NVC sends your complete pack to sydney, how long until they look at it and contact you to schedule an interview?

What do the processing estimates on the sydney consulate site mean? Does it mean how long to process after the interview? Or how long ahead of time the interview is? I'm so confused... I'm sure you can all understand that all i want to do is estimate my own possibilities so anyone's info will be very much appreciated.

Thank you and good luck to all.

  12. If he abuses you physically, you could call the police and then if he tries to bring his GF to the states it'll be on his record?

I know this could be controversial thing to say, but if you're really feeling like you'd like to 'do something' considering how he's betrayed you, I would think that if his name came up with a domestic incident it may make immigration look into what the story is, and may make it harder for him to see out his plan of using you to bring over his girlfriend.

    Good luck.

  13. Find work and make saving money your obsession. You will love watching your balance grow and thinking of how great it will feel to let your husband know what you've saved.

I found after about 8 months that this forum wasn't really comforting anymore since there started to pop up the K1 ''just got approved in 10 days, can't believe it!'' type posts were making me bitter and it's not my place to think negatively about other's good fortune.

Seriously if you find work it will keep you sane, put you in a routine and meeting new people is a great distraction to pass the months.

    Good luck.
