  1. Hi, i'm the foreign beneficiary and did ShoHon translation myself.

I don't know about the Embassy template but, this is the sample of my translation, FYI.

Let me know if you need any help.

Our lawyer in Tokyo recommends to have a third party, i.e. your friend, sign as translator and attach the attestation that the translation is correct in every detail. Notary isn't required for this.

    Just noticed your post now.

    Best,

  2. Thanks JD for your action!

My fiance in California will definitely make action to media too.

I read on a blog that a radio helped to create a buzz about a difficult K-1 case, which led a congress person to give support and she finally received NOA2.

So newspapers, radios and TVs could be our choice.

I hear Mark Zuckerberg is starting a political advocacy group on immigration reform. How about presenting the super-effective K-1 procedure to the Facebook CEO?

  3. Hi JODi,

    Congratulations on your NOA2 !!

Just wanted to remind you to be careful in using a co-sponsor. It is only a courtesy extended to us when the petitioner's income is a little below the 2013 HHS poverty guideline x 125%, which means a consulate isn't legally binded to take it into account.

In your case you might want to hold off booking the interview with consulate, sponsor return to the US and get 3 months pay stubs in hand to prove you earned above the necessary level. If it doesn't reach the level, then you can use the co-sponsor. What's important is that you are employed and earning at the time of interview. They are not interested in your or your finance's salary that hasn't yet earned. Neither would they put importance on bank deposits, which only proves the past.

Anyway that's an advise I got from a very professional immigration lawyer's office in Tokyo.

Hope you will hear more from other VJ members on this. You also might be able to do more research for your country specific information.

    Good luck!

  4. Hiya, we knew our packet was received on 25th Feb. Today got hardcopy NOA1 dated 27th Feb so turned out to be a genuine Feb filer.

Hope the service centers will boost their processing soon!

    >So what are you guys doing to prepare for everything that's ahead of you even at this very early stage?

    1. Get a police certificate from the foreign country you resided over 6 months after age of 16. Tokyo Embassy accepts certificates less than 1 year old at the interview. I got one from Ireland. It took 1.5 months to obtain.

    2. Get myself and dog vaccinated at a local clinic. It seems to be cheaper than to have them at an Embassy-designated doctor. You can just bring the vaccination record to medical at a designated doctor. Should call the designated doctor first to confirm which shots you need.

    3. Enjoy local food, hot springs, time with friends, beautiful scenery inside country !!!

    Cheers to you all.

  5. Hi, we think it'll be very hard for you to get a reliable lawyer at $1,000.

We used a US law office with AILA membership for $3,000 for K-1 and AOS. We regret it.

The reason: slow response, no checking, lame excuses(even with dishonesty), bad writing and more.

I've never had this low quality of service before after paying a decent amount of money.

Because they required us to send evidences and forms so many times it took 2 months to just file our application.

In hindsight, I'm sure we could have handled this process more efficiently if we did it on our own.

You know, even before USCIS, you have to go through the US customs. They'll keep your international snail mail for 5 days to 2 weeks. So make sure your fiance(e) sends off everything needed at once!

You can hire a shrewd & effective lawyer for $5,000. That's for K-1 alone.

Or you can keep the money in your bank account to show at the embassy interview.

You could ask members here for their advice and experience.

If you feel uneasy about handling the documents all by yourself, you might be able to try:

    https://rapidvisa.com/Home.aspx

They say they'll help you prepare the I-129F packet for $325. Have 24hrs free consultation call.

    It's all your decision.

    Good luck !!!

  6. YES! I completely agree.

We used an immigration attorney for our I-129f submission and I now regret it. He did an ok job and at the time we did not know about this site. He actually missed a check box which cost us an RFE but it wasn't a biggie and he handled it. The biggie was the hit to my pocket book when I could have done it myself. Hang out on this site and read....... a lot. You'll most likely find all the guides and examples you need to do it yourself and experienced members will give you lots of solid advice.

Also, a lot won't include anything outside of the I-129f submission in the fee which may leave you alone for the consulate portion of the journey.

I would agree. The only reason I could see using a lawyer is if you want to do no thinking of your own. You almost need to be a friend of said attorney and know them really well otherwise it may become a slow, painful, and unsure process, you will also have to push that attorney to be timely, and double check their work , which defeats the purpose of hiring the attorney to begin with. I would advise you not to go with an attorney you have no idea about. If you do not personally know them, you have this site use it to your advantage, and do not hire one unless like these people say there are other circumstances that would warrant you to hire one.

  7. Not good at all. amazing when you think I went from corporate pilot to truck driver. God forbid I wanted to have a meal at Dennys or McDonnalds. It seems a wife should be worried her husband is ok out on the road supporting her. I had to eat canned foods heated in a portable 12volt cooker just so she could buy what she said she needed. It would be one thing if she was buying food for the children and her and I suffered so they could eat, but it wasn't. It turns out she was buying outfits, shoes and enjoying starbucks, mall days and other entertainment. A family can survive on $40,000 a year, not great but rent gets paid and food is put on the table. She made me feel like I earned so little I was a popper trying to provide for a queen.

    Greg,

That woman is crazy. I am sorry you had to get hurt so much. She has no right to treat you like that. 40,000 is enough and if she wanted more she should have got her #### to work after she got the green card. If someone lies next time say by by.

  8. Hi,

We are filing the I-129f packet tomorrow. We did prepare letters from our friends and family members confirming our romantic relationship.

Our lawyer recommended us to prepare letters from your most close ones.

The template we received was like this:

    **************************************

    (Name)

    (Address)

    (Phone number)

    Dear Sir or Madam:

My name is (name). I reside at (address).

I am writing this letter on behalf of my friends, A and B. I have known A since (date) and B since (date), and I have known them as a couple since (date). I first met A (explanation of how you met).

A first told me about B around (date). He/She told me that …

Since (date) I have spent time with A and B on a number of occasions. We have gone (examples of activities together such as out to dinner together, to the movies, go to their house). We always have a good time together. Whenever I spend time with A and B, I feel that they are in love, take good care of and respect each other. (any other observation of A and B as a couple). A told me about his/her engagement to B around (date).

I am very happy for their engagement and hope that they have a great life together.

I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States that the foregoing is true and correct.

    (name)

    Good luck!!
