  1. You should get a cosponsor (and all the applicable documents from him/her). Your husband may still show his investments and assets, however, the poverty guidelines need to be met through income.

    Why do you think this?

It's acceptable to use income + assets, or assets only, on the I-864.

Mine was adjudicated successfully with no income.

    Thank you for clarifying.

wow fantastic news!! thank you so much :luv::luv:

His mother will be our co-sponsor.....but again, she isnt working even though she's got LOTS of assets. Still no W2...I'm worried *sighs* say if they decided that the affidavits don't meet the requirement, would I get denied right away? or would they issue an RFE to look for another co-sponsor?

Please pleasee advise, pretty worried and desperate here

  3. Hello, we're trying to gather everything needed for AOS. We have question regarding to the Affidavit of Support. My husband doesnt have a job, however, he has some investment. His income is purely from the investment, it's a lil bit under minimum requirement. But he's got assets that's more than 5 times the diff between his income and minimum income requirement ( which is, the investmen). Should we get a co sponsor? or just go with that? without W2 or letter of employment? we do have 3 years tax returns.

Please advise and thanks in advance.

  4. If you only want to correct the name on your SSN record, you can do that now if your marraige certificate has you age or date of birth. Otherwise, you will need to wait until you have your EAD card and even then it will depend on if your marriage certificate has your date of birth or age or your EAD card has your married name.

That's all I wanted to do :) to change my name to the married name, but they said they can't issue me a new SS card cuz my I-94 expires on that day, I did bring my marriage certificate with me too, and it has my age.

You aren't reading what I posted. It only corrects the SSN record. NO card will be issued.

    4. Correcting Numident Data When a Replacement Card Cannot Be Issued

If the alien does not provide evidence of work authorization or a valid nonwork reason, explain that no replacement card can be issued.

Although a replacement card cannot be issued, the Numident can be corrected if the alien has provided documentation supporting the change (e.g., a name change).

If the alien provides documentation supporting the change, process the SS-5 to update the Numident information but suppress the issuance of a card.

Ohh sorry I missed that, thank you!

Well I guess we will try again when I get my EAD, thank you so much everyone :luv:

Oh does that mean I stop being out of status once we send in the application for AOS+EAD+AP ?

That's a good question... I believe you would be out of status until your green card is approved... or maybe the NOA1 changes that as you have proof you have filed for something in the US?

Your status changes to "Adjustment Applicant" once you receive NOA1 for your AOS.

That's really good to know  I don't like the idea of being out of status until AOS is approved.

Thanks for the help everyone (L)

Anyway I really wanted to change my name to married name cuz I was only born with one name, it's not unusual in Indo, lots of people has only one name. But I have problem here cuz I only have one name, they put FNU as my first name in the visa and my old SS Card, also bank account (which I think it stands for First Name Unknown) and in marriage license and certificate, my last name is 'Legally Omitted' Guess I'm stuck as a FNU for a few more months

  6. I went to the social security office today trying to get my name changed to married name, but couldnt get it done, since my I-94 expires today, and they told me to come back after I have my final immigration paper, which is the green card....I have heard people getting a corrected SS card when they get their EAD, how did they do that? Have they already have their AOS approved and received their green cards before then? We havent sent in AOS application, still waiting for the 2005 tax returns. Will I stop being out of status once we send in the application? or am I out of status until the AOS is approved?

    Thanks, any advice/help is appreciated!

  7. Hello, I entered with K1 visa in Secember, now we're married and we have a marriage certificate, can we go to the Social Security Office to replace my SS Card in maiden name to SS card in married name now? Or do we have to wait for the EAD card to arrive before trying to get a SS card in married name? I'm wondering about the working authorization status on the card. We still haven't sent in AOS/EAD/AP stuff, hopefully in 2 weeks we will be able to do so, waiting for the 2005 tax returns to be done.

    Thanks :)

  8. Good question I believe we got the same card you did but not the form id also like to hears some comments.

I got the vaccination supplement :) And I went there only with my vaccination card record and empty I693 appendix A form. The doctor moved all the vaccination records to the form, and did a blood test to see if I'm immuned to chicken pox or I still need the vaccination for that. This morning I got a call from them saying the form is ready to pick up  now just waiting for the taxes to be done and we can send in the AOS package.

  9. I don't have a last name (Indonesians frequently only have one name) So I'll definitely take my fiance's last name after we get married. So I can stop having random made up name, in my K1 Visa, they put FNU(First name Unavailable?) as my first name and put my first name as my last name. In my arrival card I put my first name in first name field and left the last name field blank, the officer put an arrow moving my first name to my last name field and put FNU as my first name. Then when we went to get a marriage license, they had problem giving us one cuz the computer wouldnt let them proceed when the last name field is still blank, so they put 'No last name' in last name field, so my name in the license appeared to be 'XX No Last Name'. Five minutes after we left the office they called and told us to come back to get a new marriage license cuz they decided to change my last name, we went back, they gave us a new license, and my name on it is 'XX Legally Omitted' So I'm Miss Legally Omitted until we get married, I wonder if the minister will go 'Will you, XX Legally Omitted take this blablabla'

Wonder if there are any other FNUs in VJ
