  1. I recd a letter from VSC for the change of address

Also today i called the Customer service and they also took the info and gave a confirmation # and said if i dont recieve a letter from USCIS within 30 days i can call back and check

    Al

Did you put 'change of mailing address' on your letter, or just a simple 'change of address' ?

I assumed they should know when we mail them the change of address notice, it means our mailing address changes to that new address also? Cuz I put 'change of address' instead of 'change of mailing address'

    Hi,

I'm going to send these forms too. But I'd like to know if I have to send both forms to the local office but ONLY the AR11 to USCIS (that is... where? CA or Chicago?) ?? I'm always confused with these addresses (too many!)

And also, what did you put in at the Last Name column? Did you put in your hubby's last name?

    Thanks!

Send AR-11 to the address listed on the AR-11 form. Also send a copy to the service center/local office where you filed your application. I put my husband's name as my last name because that's what I did on my AOS application

  2. I sent in my AOS package on June 15. I have been waiting for the letter for biometric appointment. Yesterday, I checked the case status online, and they said On June 30, they sent an RFE  Has anyone gotten an RFE before the biometric appointment ? :help:

Oh, and I really really hope they don't ask for medical examination, it's only been 7 months since I had it for K1 visa....less than a year.

  3. Hey Everyone,

As you can see from my signature, Aidan and I received an RFE for proof that I make 125% above the poverty line. I do, and they already had that proof, but they're fart-heads and wanted more. So after much begging and pleading, my mom actually decided to cosponsor Aidan! We sent the RFE back priority mail on June 23rd and saw the confirmation via the internet that the package was indeed delivered on the 26th.

I've been checking the uscis.gov website every day since then, and the status is still the same. Nothing. Not a touch, not a "We received your RFE blah blah blah", nothing. :(

Normally I'm the one giving advice about how sometimes they don't touch your case yadda yadda yadda, but this time I'm starting to get worried because it seems as if the "We received your RFE blah blah blah" response is quite common immediately upon the USCIS receiving the RFE.

So what's the deal? Anyone else going through the same situation?

    Thanks so much. :luv:

Good to know that your mother finally agreed to become a co-sponsor!

I would give it a few more days  Easier said than done I know

  4. Can't answer the Fed ex part of the question, but I will say that I believe most people here on VJ sent their packages via USPS and had no problems. We sent ours certified/registered mail and it was delivered in 2 days. We registered it so we could track it online and knew the exact time it arrived and who signed for it.

I sent my AOS package in using USPS certified mail so we could track it online. I tracked it the day after we sent it in and it told us that the package is delievered...to us, and that they left a notice for us cuz we weren't there when they delivered it. USPS messed it up and sent it to the sender instead of the recipient  . Finally got it back and they fixed it, after a 4 days delay and multiple trips to the post office to find our package and pick it up.

They did send it to the correct recipient this time, and we have our NOA1 a week after that

  5. My husband (who hates durian) says he once encountered a smell that's exactly like durian. He was on the tarmac at a small airport and smelled, simultaneously, raw sewage and deisel exhaust. He really hates that fruit and can detect the smell from much much farther away than I can.

It also almost made him throw up the first time he smelled it. I was once giving him some different flavored mooncakes and one of them happened to be durian... There was much gagging and choking

  6. We sent it in with certified mail so we can track the package online. When they have it re-sent, the mailman didn't give me a new tracking number, she said I still can track with the old number. The last update they put online was that it's ready to pick up by us....been 2 days and they havent updated it. Hope they did send it to the chicago lockbox *sighs* I will never use USPS again after this.

Thank you everyone (L) I will let you guys know when the NOA1 comes, hopefully soon.

  7. Did you send it registered?

Always best to send your papers registered, that way you can keep track of it.

I just hope that your package gets to its destination, I would be fuming as it takes so much time and effort to put together.

Will keep fingers crossed for you that it arrives safely.

    Good luck.

Yep, we sent them in registered, which is how we found out that they tried to send the package to us, the sender address, instead of the recipient address. I still need to find that package before I can actually re-mail it to the chicago lockbox *sighs* already delayed lol and it's not even in yet.

Baaaaaaaadd post office, they can mess up my other packages/letters/cards, but they shouldn't mess up my AOS package :crying:

  8. We sent in our AOS package yesterday, and today we get a notice from USPS in the mailbox, saying they tried to deliver the package, but we aren't there to receive it.....the post office sent the package to us! I freaked out. I went directly to the post office mentioned in the notice to pick up the package, but it's not there :crying::crying: It took me months to put the package together, and I thought mailing it in would be an easy process :crying: They told me to go back there tomorrow. The woman that took my package told me that it was her first day working in the post office....I really hope we will get the package back so we can mail it back in.

  9. The important part of your visa was to get married within the 90 days - which you did. While it would be good to apply within the 90 days as well, you really do need to include proof of the marriage - the marriage certificate - with the AOS package otherwise there will be delays when they either send the package back or send a RFE for the marriage certificate. It is better to wait a few more days and send the complete package with the marriage certificate since you did marry within the 90 days. The one problem that is potentially forseeable is you will incur a few days out of status which shouldn't be a problem but you never know.

I have been out of status for 1 1/2 months, still trying to gather documents for AOS. I am also still in the school :) havent run into problems for being out of status
