My husband arrived in October 2017. Unfortunately, shortly before he arrived, my roommate announced she was uncomfortable with him living with us though her own husband had arrived in the US only a few months prior and I had been living with them during this time paying rent with to her with the expectation that we would live there temporarily until he began working and then we move out. We were forced to quickly find a new residence which we did. However the apartment complex screwed up and and gave us the wrong apartment and address (it’s a long story) and we had to change our address again for the second time in the span of a week.

As as a result, Imad never received his green card which was sent back to USCIS because of our change of address form. He still hasn’t received his green card and USCIS has said there is nothing do but wait for his background check to finish yet again.

How many people have a similar experience of waiting for a green card to be resent after changing their address?

You guys should go in person to your immigration office and get it sorted out. Don’t wait.

  2. FYI...it will be hard to add him to your bank accounts or credit cards because he will need a social security number and ID to show he is already in the US. Plus,  he may need to sign paperwork at a bank.  I tried to do these suggestions when we were going through the process. Couldn't do or submit those.

The best advice I got was from the USCIS customer service person on the phone when I asked them what does Evidence of bonafide relationship means. She said everyone's case is unique. You need to show it as best to what pertain to your relationship. So I took it to my interpretation is to "Illustrate and tell a story of you and your spouse relationship as if people are reading it in a book".

Lastly, I think including more notarized statements from the petitioner's side of family and friends stating their observation of the relationship and/or acknowledgement/participation of their relationship will outweigh the ones submitted from the beneficiary's side.

    Good luck & best wishes.

  3. If you have an appointment to obtain the notary, just print your appointment paper and show it along with your US passport to the security guy, he will let you (only) inside. When you are inside, you have to go through security just like an airport security. When you pass through that, it's just like going to the DMV doing a window transaction like renewing your drivers license. Pay the money and you will get your Affadavit of Nationality and Eligibility to Marry stamped paper. Make sure (if you were married before) you have official divorce papers to show in case.

Hope it's simplifies and lessens the unknown. Good luck and best wishes.

  4. Visa Journey was my library of resource. I did all of the research myself. I totally believe if you want things done right, you have to do it yourself. Unless you are not a paper pencil person and not so organized with paper work. Also if you are not discipline to be a self-starter; then you should pay someone else to do all that for you.

I am forever grateful for this website because everyone here on the website is on the same journey as you are. So thank you Visa Journey for providing such a invaluable resource!

  5. I got married in Morocco too and my maiden name is on the marriage certificate too. It wasn't until I was back in the states to changed to my married name. You have to go to the Social Security place to apply for a name change. Then you will take your new social security card that shows the name change and then you can change all of your other paperwork. For example, your driver license, etc.

    Good luck!

  6. I just read your post and I'm confused why your fiancé had to ask his own mother if he can get marry to you instead of him asking your parents for permission for your hand in marriage? Do you have photos or affadivats of your side of the family knowing of and being involved in the engagement too?

If it's all one sided then of course they will suspect that it's not a mutual thing between you and your fiancé. And it may cast shadow of doubt and suspicion why his family is so involved with his decision to married to you in the first place. Sorry to sound harsh but they are very keen to fraud for immigration-something you and your fiancé will need to prove (unfortunately) to the government that you two have a solid relationship. The best solution is time, having photos of your engagement ring etc, or documenting your relationship more so since you know now what they expect. Perhaps getting married in Motocco and then file for the spousal visa.

  7. I am so happy for you! Would you mind sharing a bit of advice here with a frustrated June 2015 filer :) Did you write to your senator, congressman, or both to make the interview notice arrive faster? Thank you!

No, we didn't write to any politicians. We made an infopass appointment online and gpt an appointment. We visited the local office inquire about the long wait. We were also able to get a stamp on his passport to give him another year extension. I truly believe our visit to the local office triggered for them to put some attention to our file. A few weeks after the visit, we got a letter in the mail to request the interview.

I've noticed that it may be a coincidence they are working on getting the petitions that are nearing their anniversary of the day of petitioner's arrival date to the US. Of course, my hubby first arrived on Sept. 10, 2013 and it will exactly 3 years in two days (Sept. 10, 2016). Very interesting.

So I would bet money that whatever the date of your arrival in the US three years ago, would be around the time you should get notice of approval or go for an interview.

Hang tight and just be patient!

  8. Hi Everyone,

I had to LOOK WAY back to find this June 2015 thread. But I want to update and share that my hubby got approved (FINALLY) today. So for everyone who's waiting and waiting even after a year. This ROC journey took us about 15 months. I have to say it was a bit lengthier than our original CR one. Never the less, we made it!

Be patient and sooner or LATER, all good things will come to an end. Best wishes! :)

  9. Wow they are just now answering June 2015? I'm a July 2015 filer

NO, they never answered our request over the phone. We called three times (once in June and twice this past month). Twice they told us to call back because we would call in the afternoon and apparently it's too late for them to transfer the call to TIER 2. We are on Pacific Time Zone. The customer service woman told us to call in the morning if we wanted a call back. After the third time, we told them that we would take the call back. This was back in early July. We still didn't get a call back. However from checking online, there was a notation that a service call back was assigned to someone to do so. So we'll see if we ever get the call back to answer the major question, what is delaying his ROC petition approval?

We were able to get the day for an INFOPASS appointment for today so after clicking for a couple of days for them to have an open appointment date at the local Los Angeles center. We believe that is the best way to go. Speaking to a live person helped greatly.

  10. The letter of extension does NOT expire. The letter of extension extended your green card for an additional 1 year.

The letter of extension DOES expire after the year extending your green card for an additional 1 year. You have to do what we did today at an INFOPASS appointment at your local USCIS office which is getting a stamp on your passport that will extend your permanent residency for 1 additional year (on the day we got the stamp) that is valid for ermployment, etc. while your ROC (1-751) petition is still being adjudicated.

We are actually June 2015 filier! :clock:

  11. We are in the same boat as you. We have submitted two online requests for service and talked to customer service and got the similar answer about being stuck in security checks. Our one year mark was June 25th. We are trying to get an Infopass visit (when an appointment opens up online) so we can go see them in person and to get a stamp. And our case is with the CSC so that makes me feel worse because the back up is supposedly at VSC and not at CSC! :clock:

Hi everyone, I am an I-751 June 2015 filer. I was thinking that my approval will come after 6 months but unfortunately it has been 1 year since and I still have not heard anything back from USCIS.

I decided to contact my local senator to find out more information about my case and today I got a response from the senator office.

    Case Number: 5#####

    Dear Mr. &&&&&&&&&&:

Thank you for contacting my office with your matter. I have contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on your behalf.

According to USCIS, "Thank you for sending our office your inquiry for your constituent, @@@@@@ %%%%%%, in regard to Form I-751, Receipt Number EAC152###### and card producing Form CR-I89, Receipt Number EAC151######.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services computer systems show that your constituent's petition or application is still pending consideration. The processing of the petition or application has been delayed. All petitions and applications received by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services are required to have routine security checks. This is resulting in delays of the adjudication of petitions and applications. We have no control over how long these security checks will take; therefore, we cannot determine when they will be completed."

I understand your frustration with this delay. However, I cannot expedite or waive the clearances required to complete the processing of your case.

I hope this information will be of help to you and that your matter is resolved promptly. If I can be of further assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact my office again.

So this means that I am still not done with my security check yet?

Did other member(s) have the same reply from USCIS?

  12. Interesting you were stopped three times and asked for this paper. All the times I was there in Morocco, this did not happen to us. Where were you guys that they would stop you? Were they smaller/rural towns? We were in Agadir too but again we were in the touristy beach area and perhaps the police won't stop touristy looking people like us?

We went everywhere and it didn't happen. But again we were in all major cities like Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakesh. I'll have to ask my husband about this paper. Good to know! Thanks for sharing.

  13. I am one of the two couples from CSC who are still waiting for approval for my husband's ROC petition. We put in an online request for customer service. We are nearing his one year anniversary since he filed. His one year extension for his green card will run out in Sept. 2016.

Is this common? I know we should contact a congressman or senator. But I just cannot believe why is this taking so long? The process prior to all this has been quite smooth and nothing like this?

Starting to wonder what is going on? No RFE or interview request at all.

  14. Thank you Mimolicious for sharing a sincere posting about our dear friend Sylvia. I was fortunate to have met her here on Visa Journey too. Even though we didn't meet in person, she and I chatted online on a regular basis & gave each other moral support as we both were going through the Visa Journey for our spouses. We had a special connection because what were the chances of two Asian females meeting our MENA husbands online and through gaming site too.

The afternoon before she passed away. I had a premonition because Sylvia's name came into my mind (for no apparent reason). I immediately sent her a message. Unfortunately, it I didn't get a response. The very next day, I found out she passed away. I cried for a long time. But I know she is not suffering anymore. She fought a brave fight! She will always have a special place in my heart because she has left a lasting memory forever in my mind and heart. Rest in peace Sylvia. (L)(L)(L)(L)

  15. I need some reassurance. We filed a petition to remove conditions for his Green card end of June 2015. Due to the careless postal mail delivery person in our neighborhood, we didn't get his biometric letter until a few days AFTER the date that was scheduled for which was sometime in July 2015. The good thing is that I called them and the customer service woman was really nice and reassuring that it wasn't a big deal and will get another biometric date in August. Sure enough, this time we got the letter for a biometric date of August 20, 2015. He got it done and since then, nothing what-so-ever was there any correspondence or update posted online. I checked on their website to get both text and email notification for this petition.

If we count August 2016 after doing the biometric, we are going on our 7th month. But if I counted when we submitted the petition and their last online recorded date which was June 25, 2015, it would be going on our 9th month. NO RFE either. Of course, his 1 year extension doesn't expire until Sept. 2016. But it's a long time without a peep/anything!

This evening, I just put in an USCIS service request (email inquiry) about this and I did get an automatic email confirmation saying they will reply by March 28, 2016.

I've seen the other VJ people's timelines for i-751 ROC especially for June 2015 and majority of the folks got their approval for their green card. Even the people in July 2015 i-751 ROC have seen approvals too.

So just want to hear some reassurance and/or comments, is this normal? Hmmmmm!

  16. I cannot believe my hubby's ROC is still pending. We r one of the last 5 remaining. I wonder if we went late for the biometrics had an effect on this?

    Buerm's approval updated! Congrats!
