My husband received his visa on Jan 22,2014 after 18 months in AP. We are so happy we will finally be able to begin our lives together. Thank you VJers for all of your help, advice and encouragement along the way.
omg i meant it has actually been 20 months, wow, I was so excited I typed the wrong number.
-
oh ok that make sense and then you just to to pick the visa. Thank you.

We were in ap for 3 months. They send you an email letting you know they are issuing the visa and send the passport through dhl. Takes about five days to get to the location closest to you. This is the new system started in july.
What do you mean by location "closest to you?"

I am not sure my husband's case has been pending in AP since May 2012 in Naples. Your fiancee will probably need to do the medical exam again because it has been more than 6 months so it may be possible to drop of the passport in the morning and get it stamped and pick it up later that day. I am not sure though. Sorry I could not be more helpful.

I am so sorry. Still we have no new news either, what is going on at the embassy in Naples. This is beyond ridiculous.

There is nothing you can do. Many people have been in AP much longer than you. My husband's case has been in AP since May of 2012. All you can do is wait.
-
Many country's have different times that the medical exam lasts. I have heard some last 6 months and some last 1 year, so I do not think it is wrong for them to ask for one again. I know it is just an extra step to get in the way but at least it is a small one and then you will get your visa issued.
Congrats and good luck.

My husband's case has been in AP for 19 months and we recently have begun to see updates more frequently. Hopefully that is a good sign for us and you. Also to note, if you notice the updates are occuring after the time the embassy should be closed it could indicate your case is in AP in at the state department. My husband's case was there for a while and I never knew until they told me 3 months ago that it had returned to Italy. My husband was born in the Middle East in a T-country and as you are applying form Afghanistan I would assume it may be undergoing the same kind of processing. I wish you the best of luck

Also do not expect for people to respond to you if you choose not to give adequate information and you are rude to them.

Hi any new news?
-
My husband's case is in AP now 18 months so there is no way to know
-
the embassy told my congressman's office to email them back in a few weeks like 2 weeks ago so hopefully in the next week or so they will reply and we will get a favorable response after being in AP for so long.
I hope it is the same for you.

My husbands case has been in AP nearly 17 months, all you can do is wait. I hope this ends soon for both of us.
-
I contacted the office by calling the main number I looked up online. Then I asked them to direct me to someone who could help me with an immigration issue. My congressman gives me updates once or twice a month on my case and it kind of lets the embassy and DOS that there is someone "higher up" involved in the case. I am unsure if it is helping a lot but it kind of gives me peace of mind. It also kind of forces the embassy to give someone answers.

My husband's case has now been in AP for 16 months soon to be 17. On the CEAC website updates for us every time my congressman contacts the embassy. We have recently heard our case has left the DOS and has returned to the embassy to complete processing so inshAllah soon we will hear a favorable response.

Hi I applied for my husband i130 now after his interview they put his case on administrative process and it's being 4 months now I did it hear anything from them I email them 2 times they said the same thing it's under process can u tell me is there is anything else I would do that will help ok his A.P to clear soon senetor or someone else do u think if I will call them they will email the embassy regarding of my case?? Thanks appreciate ur help
There is really nothing else you can do except for wait. Make sure you contact your congressman to help, but there still is not a lot they can do except keep you updated on what is happening. My husband's case has been in AP for 16 months and we have not been able to get much information except what our congressman received.
I wish you all the best and hopefully we will both be out of AP soon

I received another email from my congressman's office today to inform me that my husband's case is requires 2 types of AP. One was at the DOS and now since that is finished the embassy could not start their processing. Good news, it usually takes less time at the embassy level and passing through DOS is a good sign. Bad news: we still don't know when this will end and we have already in AP for 16 months.

My husband's case has been in AP 16 months and we are still waiting. Once the case went 5 months without being updated. I hope this ends soon for us all.
-
The embassy did call you to drop off the passport so I don't see what the problem is. It may take a few weeks. Just give it that, a few weeks, if you don't hear anything new, then contact the embassy. The embassy would not have called you to drop off the passport otherwise I wouldn't think.

My husbands case has been in AP for 16 months now and we were informed his case passed through security checks at the DOS and has been returned to the embassy. This was 3 weeks ago. Does anyone have any idea of how long it may take for the embassy to make a decision? We are so tired of waiting.

My husband has been in AP now for 16 months I hope this ends for both of us soon.

Yes it was a very long time, but for all of those still in AP stay hopeful. I emailed the embassy every 2 weeks and my congressman every month to get updates. To be completely honest, my congressman's office really did not do much for me. I went through 3 different congressman. You truly do just have to wait it out and be compliant with all of the embassy's requests along the way. I hope all of the rest in AP will be finished shortly because I know it is a horrific process and not knowing anything is the worst.
Stay strong and know that you love your spouse/fiancee and one day, some how you will be together.
