Newbie12 reacted to uk2upstateny in Call Your Congressman!
    Hi everyone,
I am the UK beneficiary waiting on my NOA2 at this time. After contacting his congressman about the visa processing issues, my fiancé got a call yesterday from an apparently very pleasant and helpful representative who promised to help investigate the K1 visa processing times. Now I'm absolutely not jumping up and down saying that I should have my case processed before anyone else, but I DO hope that by speaking up we can help reform the system by some small degree, to the benefit of all. Particularly in times like this where government/public sector cuts are being made, if people don't make a bit of noise and make their representatives aware that this is a problem, the system is not likely to get better any time soon, rather the opposite.
    Our thoughts were as follows:
My fiancee and I realise there are considerable waiting times involved when applying for a K1 Visa with USCIS. However, these processing times seem to be extremely erratic and are becoming longer all the time, at all the processing centres. The K1 visa was designed so that couples and families did not have to spend large spaces of time apart, but this system seems to be failing, and I would like to register my concern over this. It is hard for both my fiancee and I to plan our living arrangements, employment and personal life when the process is so hard to predict. I am registering this complaint with our case in mind, but also in the hopes that the visa system will be made more efficient and fair across the board. Our case is being processed by the Vermont Service Centre, and the receipt number is: Bla bla bla bla.
Aaaand suuuuure. I've seen other people being somewhat slated for this kind of call to action; 'it won't help', 'your case won't be processed any faster' etc..
Well, even if it doesn't help me, I hope that in whatever small way possible perhaps our one contribution will join many other voices in bringing attention to this matter. I encourage others to do the same.

It is really frustrating having to wait so long. I was hoping our case would go through quickly as we have been dating for 4 years and have visited each other 11 times including a 12 month stay in the USA for me and a 6 month stay for her in the UK. I angers me when people how have only been dating a year and have seen each other once get approved faster then a scolded cat.

If you don't like how the OP posted, just don't say anything and move on. Criticizing them won't make them less upset (if that was your goal). Show tact and move along or look past the bad words and give some support. No one is forcing you to read this thread.

Keno and I are starting to slowly prepare all the documentation we are going to need to submit our I-129F. We want to take our time with the whole process to make sure every 'i' is dotted and every 't' is crossed. Being one of the first same-sex bi-national couples to immigrate to the US on a K-1 visa on the heels of a potential victory in the Supreme Court on June 27th means we don't want anything to go wrong on our end.
While we cannot file our I-129F until DOMA is repealed, we want to be ready the instant it is to submit our paperwork because it is such a time-consuming process.
Keno is currently securing his passport quality photos which he will include in his packet of info (G-325a, statement of intent to marry) that he will send to me in late January. He should have them within the week.
To everyone who supports us, thank you very much - you have no idea how much kind words and support means to us.
To those who wish us ill or dislike us because of our sexuality, please just avoid posting inflammatory comments and leave us be - that's all we ask and we do wish you the best of luck on your journey to bring your loved one to the US.

I understand what you're saying but the OP was confused because the I-134 does not mention it yet everyone else says they're required. They are NOT required by the form and telling the OP (and anyone reading) that "yes they're required" without explaining that "no, the form doesn't require them but some countries might" may make them freak out wondering what else the forms don't say but are actually requirements of the form.
Again, the I-134 does NOT require tax returns, but the country in question might and it's better that have than not need, than need and not have. Not having them won't result in denial, but it will result in delays and unnecessary stress.
So to answer the OP's qn, again, no, tax returns aren't required of the form, but get them just in case because they can ask for them. Certainly can't hurt!
