  1. Me: first US passport, applied in person . Expedite, 4 weeks

My daughter: renewal, minor so she applied in person. Regular service, 8 weeks.

My husband : by mail 2 weeks ago expedite, not received yet.

It was very easy to find an appointment online for the passport and there was no waiting time. When we renewed our daughter's passport 5 years ago was pretty bad, the lines were very long .We got a number when we got there and after hours waiting outside we had to come back the following day when the office closed.

Was the oath ceremony run by a judge? I understand whenever there is a name change (my case also) the actual judge should be running the oath ceremony, not "just" a USCIS officer.

Maybe you were lucky enough to be in the right place in the right time! :) Please advise/clarify.

BTW, I just received the Bio Reuse letter on 2/12/2021 as well. It appears Newark USCIS sent a massive number of noticess to (what appears to be) all 2020 filers. Note, I filed on March 26th 2020.

Now I'm holding my breath for the interview schedule notice :)

    Good Luck everyone!

No. The oath ceremony wasn't run by a judge. I got an envelope like everyone after the ceremony. Mine had the certificate and a court document about my name change

Hi! First of all, congratulations on finishing this journey! 🥳

I will have my interview in a couple of weeks at the Newark office. I read that if you change your name you will have to wait for a judicial oath ceremony, because Newark office only does administrative ceremonies the same day. I want to change my name to a shorter version of my legal name, but I definitely would like to have both, the interview and oath ceremony the same day. Is this correct?

    Thanks for your help! 🙂

I did both the same day. I dropped my middle name and I have my oath one hour and a half after my interview. It was the last group of the day.

  4. Hello, I'm going to fill out my passport application for the first time and I would like to know:

1- the certificate of naturalization can be used for both proof of US citizenship and proof of identity? Or should I use the driver's license for proof of identity? In that case my name is  different since I dropped my middle

     name .

2-place of birth for parents and spouse, should I write down the country or city and country?

3- travel plans? I want a expedite service but I don't have travel plans.

Thanks for your help.  I thought it would be easier

Did you do your oath same day or next day  after interview ? Their system seems programmed to send out the letter even if you already attended it. My husband attended his same afternoon and got the scheduling  notice in the mail about a week later! He said it was the same as the one they handed him at the interview.

Yes. I got my oath 2 hours after the interview. Thanks
