Few days ago we received interview notice. The interview notice says that Medical must be done BEFORE interview.

Now I heard that US Embassy in New Delhi is supposed to send a packet for Medical. When will we receive this packet. I am freaking out!!!!!!!

On State Department website, it says it is not necessary for Petitioner to be at Visa interview.

However, I am hearing from people that it is necessary and I am kind of scared, as I am stuck in the States around the time of the interview (sick Father recovering from surgery, Jury Duty, not enough leave from work).

If I don't appear, will they ask more strict questions? We already gave all the required paperwork and more.

Please help.

Took about a week in my case - depends on case load in Embassy.

How much is "a lot?" I am taking more than a month for my wedding this month and next month and getting that was like pulling teeth. Altogether, in our two year (going on 3) relationship, we will have spent a little less than 6 months together when I apply for her visa. Is that considered a lot? If not, would an affidavit help in that case?

Because affidavit was written in black and white on the instruction pages, I included it.

People on this forum say affidavit is not necessary. If you think it will help your case, go for it, otherwise, skip it.

Affidavits helped our case.

1. Affidavit from my father stating this is Indian arranged marriage, i.e. we posted matrimonial ad in Indian newspaper

2. Affidavit from Hubby's father

3. Affidavit from cousin who attended the wedding and knew me my whole life

4. Affidavit from Hubby's friend, who works in the local Government

Where can I find US based numbers if I want to call the US Embassy to inquire about anything, i.e. instead of calling long distance, is there a number in USA I can call?

Ok, I got appointment letter yesterday.

Next to Passport Police Certificate they put A, which means "Obtain this documente and present it at your interview"

We already gave the Police Passport Certificate.

When I filed IV package the first time, I wrote on cover sheet that Husband will bring Police Passport Certificate to Interview. Then, we re-sent the IV package with the Police Passport Certificate on June 23rd.

Why are they asking again? I am really really confused!!!!!!!!!

I am a US citizen bring my Hubby from India here.

From what I understand, Indian Passport has place where you enter in both parents names, and your spouse name.

Just now, Hubby is asking me to enter his name on my US passport. I told him that US passport doesn't have place to enter in both parents name and spouse name, but I wanted to make sure by asking you guys. Is there a special type of passport? Is there anything else that needs to be done.

I'm trying to calm down, as I'm excited and on edge that we got interview date.

The consulate will give you a list of physicians, you have to use someone form their list.

When will we receive list? Hubby's interview is Sep 19th.

Yesterday we received Interview Date, and they said medical is required.

Can we get medical done at any facility? Or will the Embassy send another letter assigning us to a medical facility for testing?

How does this work? Hubby's interview is right around the corner, i.e. Sep 19th

My Hubby's case is going to US Embassy in New Delhi --- they are more strict about having Police Clearance Certificate before completing the NVC case.

However, I have heard from one or two people on these forums that US Embassy in Mumbai is more lenient, and you can request to bring Police Clearance Certficate to Visa interview.

It is best to send Police Certificate with IV package. Otherwise they will send you checklist, and you will have to sent it. This will cause delays.

Well, I just received email that NVC case was completed.

When I submitted IV package first time, I said on cover page that Hubby would bring Police Certificate to embassy interview. I guess the US Embassy in New Delhi is different than Mumbai.

It's been so long!!!!

Now the next step is Medical and then Interview......

On 5/8 I submitted IV package and said that Husband will submit Indian Police Certificate at New Delhi Embassy Interview.

Two weeks later on 5/22, NVC said they need Indian Police Certificate before they complete case.

We finally got Indian Police Certificate, and photocopy of updated Passport Biography Page (where I am added as Spouse), and submitted that on 6/23.

It has been almost three weeks and we haven't heard anything.

How long does it take for case to complete?

Could you please share checklist that nvc forwarded you for police clearance certificate?

Have you already got your police clearance certi?

If yes from where?

I am in USA, my Hubby is the one who is getting Visa, and he is still in India.

The "checklist" was a letter from NVC stating that they need police certificate for the IV package. It wasn't a checklist per se, it was a letter.

My Hubby got Police Certificate from his town, he is now in the process of getting it from Chandigarh (sometimes the crowds are quite busy!)

My wife has stayed at only one town, which is Valsad, GJ, . So i will ask her to be ready to get one PCC once my NOA2 comes in

Your wife has to sign DS-230 form - only the FIRST part, which I believe is on page 2.

Since Iam in USA and wife in India i will make her send the DS-230, and her passport copy and police clearance to me here in USA, Right?

other things like marriage certificate, certificate i have got those.

On police report , whats the soonest it needs to be. (like 2 months before i get a package IV)

Police report is just the one we get from local police station, right, and nothing too specific?

Let me know whats the soonest for police clearance or anything important iam missing out,

You can ask your wife to send DS-230 to NVC. Either you or your wife can send the IV package, but your wife must sign the IV application. In our case, I asked Hubby to send me all the civil documents so I can organize and send to NVC.

But in some places in India, they wil only give Police Certificate Clearance if the NVC gives in writing that they need it. When I sent IV package, I didn't send Police Clearance Certificate, and they have requested it in writing, so now my Hubby is in the process of getting it.

Your wife needs Police Clearance Certificate from all the places she has lived for more than 6 months ever since she was 16 years old.

In our case, my Hubby is getting PCC from his town, and from Chandigarh (we've heard that the Embassy is more likely to accept from Chandigarh). Also, ask your wife to update her Indian passport so that it includes your name. In some cases in the Embassy interview, they will look at Indian Passport to see spouse's name is recorded.
