  1. i think u wanna know the websites to get downloads of forms for packet 3, if so here its link

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_1342.html

i hope u will find it..

The lady from the Embassy told me my Husband (the Applicant) needs to register on a website, www.ustraveldocs.com. She says it will be easier for him to get his Visa, and offered to create a profile for him, but I didn't have his passport number handy.

All I just want to know is people's experiences using and registering for this site, and if there is other information I need to know.

  2. This morning I called the US Embassy in New Delhi.

    91-120-660-2222

The lady told me that if I received interview letter by email I can send my husband a printed copy. and instructions for Medical is contained in the website in the letter, www.immigrantvisas.state.gov

She also said to do Medical one week before the interview.

However she mentioned one new thing I never heard of ... www.ustraveldocs.com

She said that she needed the applicant's passport number to create his profile ... I didn't have the passport number handy :-(

My question is, what is UStraveldocs website? What are your experiences with this website? What other information do I need for this website?

My husband's interview is Sep 19th and now I' m a bit nervous. is there anything else we are supposed to know about?

  3. Hi,I need some serious advise regarding things.I did a blunder, never realising this could be a problem though.I have my interview at new Delhi embassy coming Monday.Since yesterday I was relaxed that I have all the required documents and quite confident about this.Well while filling the forms yesterday,I realised that I have no surname in my Indian passport. My full name is XXX Kaur. When the petition was filled my name was written as the family name Kaur and first name as XXX.now While filling the form DS156,it mentioned surname (as in passport).I wrote none. While discussing it with my fiance We realise that this is a huge technical trouble. As in the records(I-129 and G325 , my name is mentioned as family name KAUR and first name XXX,while no surname in the passport)I never realised at that time that surname and family names are same.now there is no time left as well/Know its a huge error, but is there something I can do?.Is the situation explainable?I wrote the embassy, they asked me to write as the first name unavailable and write full name in the surname column.I am not sure if they understood the situation.I am done with medical,Pcc,everything, but now can see my visa getting denied coz of my fault.I am really hopeful if anyone can provide me input regarding this asap.Is rescheduling a better Idea?and then get a new passport issued. In that case won't it effect my medical and PCC which have my old passport records in it?Please help!!!!

    Please calm down......

I am thinking you will get the VISA at the upcoming interview because employees in New Delhi embassy (I am guessing from "Kaur" you are from Punjab, hence are going to New Delhi) probably seen this type of things many time, i.e. "Singh" or "Kaur" are surname in passport. That is what I am thinking, but I'm not sure.

If they ask at interview, just explain.

When you get US Naturalization, change your name to First-Name Kaur Last-Name.

I know one person who got US Naturalization and shortened his last name, and thus it became his official name on all US records (i.e. drivers license, SS#, etc)

  4. Hi,

I renewed my Indian Passport through Newyork Embassy in 2010. I did not add my wife`s name in the passport that time though i got married in usa in 2008, as we were not sure whether we are going to change her last name or not. Now we do want to add her name to my new passport.

    Thank you

    I'm puzzled?

Did you get US citizenship, or are you very close to getting US citizenship (i.e. you cleared the VISA interview already).

I believe once you get US citizenship, you surrender your Indian Passport (or get a stamp marking it as VOID) and get a US passport instead.

And in US passport, they don't ask for parents, spouse name.

  5. Passport Police Certificate: The NVC has already sent this document to Embassy.

Indian Police Certificate: The NVC didn't request this document.

For us, they requested Passport Police Certificate even though

1- We already submitted it to NVC

2- We got Passport Police Certificate in Jun 2013

As for Indian Police Certificate, they also say "The NVC didn't request this document."

  6. Did you submit the PCC to NVC and now the embassy is requesting the same document again?

Yes, I submitted the PCC (which my Husband got on Jun 2013) to NVC and now the Embassy is asking again, for Sep 19th interview.

  7. Hello,

Is it mentioned in his interview letter to get Police Certificate from local police station as well?

All it asked was to get "Passport Police Certificate", which I still don't understand because we submitted Passport Police Certificate we got from Chandigarh in Jun 2013.

Interview letter didn't ask for Local Police Certificate.

However, because there is so much confusion over this, my Husband will take Local Police Certificate and Passport Police Certificate (even though we submitted it already).

I am kinda scared over this Police Certificate / Passport Police Certificate issue because we already submitted it, and they are asking again. My Husband insists this is nothing to worry about because many of his friends have gone though this process in New Delhi before.

All we can do is pray!!!

  8. My Husband has interview in US Embassy in New Delhi soon and he will give Police Certificate from his town, and Police Clearance Certificate from Chandigarh passport office.

Better to be on safe side!

  9. As most of you probably know, lots of folks in India do not have a birth certificate, and for this reason's people's school records are used to show their age. My fiancee (soon wife), though, does have her birth certificate, but it does not match her school records. Long stroy short, she is a gifted woman and as a girl her parents wanted to give her a head start, so they lied about her age to get her into school 1 year early. Thus according to her birth certificate she is 25 (26 in September) but according to everything else (including her passport) she is 26 (27 next month). What should we put for her age on the G-325A ? What documents should she give? Should she get a new passport? Please advise. Thanks!

    Here's what I suggest

    1. Don't worry about school records, use Birth Certificate. If it's in Hindi (or another regional language) have it translated into English and notarized that it is true copy

    2. Get new passport that reflects age that is shown in Birth Certificate

How soon are you going to get married? If you get married soon, then ask your wife to get new passport after marriage, which reflects age shown in Birth Certificate and in passport, list you as Spouse.

  10. So far, I read wonderful experiences where Wife is Applicant and she is being interviewed in New Delhi embassy.

Some interactions are gender-specific, i.e. I remember one person telling the Wife about numbers she can reach in cases of domestic abuse. And some people are more patient towards the Wife. I remember reading where one Wife was nervous and shivering that she needed to be fingerprinted three times, and was eventually given VISA!

What type of questions, advice can my Husband expect in his interview next month?

  11. I have decided to send the IV package to the NVC without our documents but I know they will send a checklist. I have proof of my attempts. For instance, we have news articles detailing the weather in Uttarakhand as well as the receipt from my husband's PCC appointment which shows the certificate is pending.

For the Thai stuff, I have the original envelope the lost certificate was mailed in and I also have the FedEx slip showing the address, date, etc, from the new package we will be sending to the Thai police department.

Please please please advise! I am lost. cray5ol.gifcray5ol.gifcray5ol.gifdead.gifheadbonk.gifClockWatch2.gifClockWatch2.gifClockWatch2.gif

{{{Hugs}}} to you. Those floods were terrible, and I cannot begin to imagine how you must be feeling.

I can recommend waiting for certificate from Thai police department and send that with the IV package.

Then on the coversheet of the IV package you can say what documents were included and mention that you will get Police Certificate from Uttarakhand and show news articles about those floods.

I really feel for you, and pray all will work out for the best!

  12. What I did was, I pasted two 4x6 photographs per page and left room in the bottom to describe the people in the photographs.

I just said "This person XYZ is the brother of ABC, my husband the applicant."

I described the close relatives and friends in the photographs.

And if there were many people, like dancing, I would give a description about the custom (i.e. certain celebrations before the marriage, everyone is happy and dancing because they are excited about upcoming wedding)

I submitted 12 photographs of various parts of the pre-marriage festivities, and the actual marriage itself..

Keep it to 1 or 2 sentences. And I used blue ink for my husband and his side of the family and pink ink for me, and my side of the family.

    Good Luck!

  13. I think they are asking for the PCC. PAssport Clearence Certificate which you can get at the passport office.

Police clearence certificate is the one you can get from your Police commissioners office. Usdually they are asking for the Passport clearence certificate.I would suggest you to bring both with you at the interview.

But my Husband already submitted the Passport Clearance Certificate. Why are they asking again?

He went to Passport office in Chandigarh. This is same place where he added me as Spouse to his passport.
