  1. The number you want is three letters plus some numbers. Sometimes the number isn't long enough, so you have to add a zero. Like mine had the pattern LND11111111 so I had to add a 0 like LND011111111 for it to work in ELIS. I think it says about adding the 0 in on the right hand side of the signup somewhere, but it took me forever to notice so it's not very obvious. :/

    BINGO!!! This works.

When I called US Embassy they did not mention the 0 in LND011111111, but now that I tried it, I was able to create an account and pay the $165.

Thanks once again, you guys are grrrrrrrreat!!!!!!!!!

  2. We are trying to pay the $165 immigration fee on ELIS to get Greencard, but we cannot find DOS Case ID Number that is needed in order to create an account to pay the $165 immigration fee.

I tried entering the IV Case Number as DOS Case ID Number but all the digits do not fit

I called USCIS and they say that my Husband was supposed to receive paper from Embassy Interview and that has the DOS Case ID number. My Husband says he received a sealed envelope and paper stuck on top of it. He gave the entire thing to US customs when he arrived in USA. My Husband's reading and writing English is still not perfect :-)

USCIS does not know the DOS Case ID number, they say call the US Embassy in New Delhi. I called the US Embassy in New Delhi and they say that DOS Case ID Number is same as IV Case Number

    BUT

the DOS Case ID Number that the person at the US Embassy gave is very similar to the IV Case Number. I thought they shortened it so it can fit in the field where it says DOS Case ID Number.

Now I came home from work and I am trying to register on ELIS website and I keep getting error "You have entered an invalid DOS Case ID. Please recheck your USCIS Immigrant Fee handout from the Department of State (DOS). The DOS Case ID should look like the following example: ABC1234567890"

Is there another way to pay the $165 fee without going through so many hoops?

  3. Oh, so they haven't given your husband a Visa yet? I thought you said they did?

The Embassy took my Husband's passport and said "Welcome to the United States, you will get passport with Visa in about a week"

Yes, he was approved for Visa, he still needs it in hand before he can make flight arrangements :-)

  4. Hey Congrats happy for you. Just a quick questions how long did the whole process took? I'm currently going on my 5 month so its getting very impatient! So just wanted to know how long the whole process took? Thanks

It's been almost a year because I mailed the I-130 on Oct 22nd.

Last step is for my Husband to get Visa, and then land in the USA!!!

  5. I believe God gives us Stars for our Scars, Beauty for our Ashes .... I am so happy I married Mr. Right (Ram Milayi Jodi), and that this Visa process was relatively straightforward .... thanks to the wonderful and supportive people of this forum!

  6. Probably coming October timeframe.

My Husband believes in Shradh (http://www.astrosage.com/2013/shradh2013.asp), which is a 2-week period that spirits of the deceased are worshipped. It is inauspicious to have any parties, or get-togethers, or start any ventures, such as opening a business, or in my Husband's case, come to USA for the first time.

This year it starts night of Sep 19th (luckily my Husband's interview was early early morning), and I believe it ends Oct 4th.

Hence, it'll be sometime after Shradh .........

Which will actually be Navaratri (http://www.when-is.com/navaratri-2013.asp), a wonderful and auspicious time to start new ventures, like coming to the USA

  7. As per your request, below is our experience

On July 30th, they gave interview date of Sep 19th, one year anniversary of Thaka/Roka (which is like an Engagement party)

Husband requested that I send my income tax information again even though I already submitted it with AOS.

I mailed him hard copy of Transcripts of Tax Returns for past three years, two letters from Bank saying how much is my balance, two letters from Employer stating how long I worked there, in what capacity, and my salary, and most importantly, print out of interview letter, because we were unsure whether Embassy in New Delhi would mail him hard copy letter or not.

About a week before interview date, Husband did medical. His arms were paining, but he took it in great stride.

Day before interview he and his friend went to New Delhi, saw Hindi movie, and stayed at hotel about 2 miles from the Embassy. Appointment was at 8:30am so I told Hubby to please sleep early and he said, "Don't worry".

He ended up sleeping 12am, and asked me to call him 6am to wake him up for Interview.

Meanwhile in USA I'm like "Oh my God, Oh my God, it's finally happening". I tried my best to focus at work :-)

So, at 8:30pm at night in USA, I called my Husband and woke him up. He was yawning and said I will lay down and close my eyes few minutes. I told him ok, please go early. He said "Don't worry, it is 15 minute drive from Hotel to embassy, we'll leave at 8:15am"

Eventually, I think my insistence made him leave at 7:45am.

When I called him he was in the car, and the driver and my Husband and his friend was trying to figure out how to get to the Embassy

My Husband insisted I go to sleep. I told him I would leave my cell phone on.

Whole night I kept getting text messages.

His friend texted me that my Husband now entered the Embassy and I was like "Oh my God, Oh my God, it's finally happening". I tried my best to sleep.

Then I got a text from my cousin asking whether my Husband got the visa. I told her that he just entered the Embassy.

Now, here is what happened when my Husband entered the embassy

He went inside, was asked to pay Rs 500 fee to courier Visa. He paid it. There was a frail elderly man who also had to pay Rs. 500 fee to courier visa, but he said he forgot his wallet, and had to go out and get it. Since it would be inconvenient for this elderly man, my Husband paid for him. The elderly man touched my Husband's head and blessed him.

My Husband got token with number. He waited 10, 15 minutes and a lady called him up. The lady asked him questions in English, i.e. when he was married, and my Husband said the court date and the date of our traditional Saat Phere. The lady also asked for Tax papers, even though they were already submitted with AOS. Then she took his fingerprints and asked him to wait.

My Husband waited another 20 minutes and another lady called him up. She asked him questions like

    Was this arranged marriage?
How long did you know Wife before marriage?
How long did Wife stay with you after marriage?
How long has Wife been in USA?

Then lady asked Husband to raise Right hand and pledge his allegiance to the United States.

She told him congratulations, you will get Visa in a few days.

Finally at about 1am in the morning in USA (10:30am in India), my Husband's friend texted me that my Husband got his Visa.

Then a minute later my Husband called me and told me the fantastic news, and I was like "WOW WOW WOW".

Afterwards I informed my family members who I am currently living with, and they also heard the great great news!!!!!

When I woke up next morning, 6am, it was 3:30pm and my Husband reached home from New Delhi. Since he was tired from the journey, he said he'll give more details later, plus I was too sleepy to have any conversations because I kept waking up the night before, hence I am posting one day late :-)

    Hope this helps you guys!!!

  8. Hey guys - If you're a US Citizen living in the states and your foreign spouse is living abroad, what filing status do you use on your income taxes? Single or Married filing separately?

    Thanks

I filed "Married Filing Separately", and then I included a coversheet to IRS explaining that I recently got married, and I am currently sponsoring my Husband for US Visa, and he is currently abroad, and has never been to USA.

  9. Need some advice please!

Everything started out as a perfect romance

    1) I was not being abused

    2) he did not marry me for a green card.

We are not on bad terms...we just know we are not good for each other. I still care about him and want to see him happy.

I don't have any immigration advice, but you post bought chills to my spine, so I felt I had to respond.

There are lot of jealous people who don't like to see others happy, so many times, intentionally or unintentionally, they will poison one spouse's mind about the other spouse.

I am starting to see this happen to me, but luckily, due to past life experiences, I started to realize what is happening, and now I pray to God for comfort.

Everything started as a perfect romance (and the people I am surrounded with were never blessed with the perfect romance in their whole life).

My husband also is not using me for green card, and we get along really well (although we argue and stuff).

Please don't get upset at me or this post, but things like this are really scary.

I don't know your whole situation, your whole life experience, so I cannot judge. I just hope everything works out better than you dreamed of.

    God Bless You.

  10. Help

My husband just got his interview date in Saudi, the NVC sent interview letter

    but it says

    10 - INDIA POLICE CERTIFICATE F

which means The nvc did not request it.

But we had submitted the PCC to NVC.

My question is will the PCC still make it to Embassy? my husband will need it, as he is indian citizen.

Our inteview letter says the exact same thing. Even though we submitted Indian Police Certificate from Husband's town, they put F next to it anyway.

I believe PCC is different, Police Clearance Certificate is from passport office, and my Husband got it from Chandigarh passport office. In our interview letter, they put A next to Police Clearance Certificate, which means Husband must bring it to interview.

To be on the safe side, my Husband will bring original copy of (1) Indian Police Certificate and (2) Police Clearance Certificate

    I hope this helps!

  11. it is simple registration of your information on the website. You will also have to choose where you want to pick up your visa from.

    1. What is the visa fee? Is this $165

    2. I heard that USCIS ELIS website is to pay for green card? When will my husband receive instructions for that? And what is the fee?

  12. I am getting conflicting information on how to pay $165 Visa Fee.

I called US Embassy in New Delhi and the lady says my Husband (the applicant) should register through www.ustraveldocs.com so he can pay for Visa, and arrange for them to send it to him.

On these forums, people are saying go to USCIS website and use ELIS, https://elis.uscis.dhs.gov/cislogin/CISControllerAction.do?TAM_OP=login&ERROR_CODE=0x00000000&URL=%2F&AUTHNLEVEL=&OLDSESSION=

I am really confused! Does www.ustraveldocs.com use USCIS ELIS system? Or can we use either system? Or should we ignore www.ustraveldocs.com and use USCIS ELIS system.

    Please help!

    EDIT:

The USCIS ELIS website says that only the Applicant (my Husband) or a Legal Representative can set up an account.

I am the Petitioner and also the Designated Agent. Because I am the Designated Agent, does this make me a Legal Representative?
