  1. My mother "won" Visa Lottery or rather was selected. As a result my parents and my brother and I could move to US. One requirement was that my mom had High School diploma, and she had money to support us here in US for a time period. If you do not have the money then you need an affidavit of support from a US citizen., . After being selected we all had to go for an interview. My mom had to bring proof that we had the money (I think it is a "few" thousand $ per person) ,we all needed to have a medical exam (which showed my mom was pregnant ) , we were all interviewed (my little brother did not know what a terrorist was so he did not say NO when they asked him if he was one  ) ....We got approved

As a result we all 4 received Permanent Residence for 10 years, 3 of us got the citizenship 2 years ago. My little brother's is still just a resident, he has yet to apply for naturalization. Our interview was in March, my parents moved to US in APril (8 months pregnant) , my mom gave birth in May...and me and my brother came to US in JuLy. My parents wanted to come first and see if they really like US. I guess they did.

We know 13 other families here in Chicago that also came from Romania with Lottery Visa, all same year as us.

I have heard that some of the requirements changed. They still need to have enough money to live for a few months or affidavit of support from a US citizen. Pass a Medical Exam, etc (some requirements same as for other visas) As for the High School diploma, I hear it also okay if you have 5 years working in certain profession :: I don't know exactly.

  2. maple-syrup-diet.jpg

Apparently maple syrup is the hottest weight loss product since the thigh master

Hollywood has the answer to everything. One topic they have been on top for the last decade is dieting. It seems hollywood heavyweights like Britney Spears and Katie Holmes are at the forefront of weight loss science. The latest load of ####### to be gaining attention is a new fad diet which involves eating large amounts of maple syrup.

The diet claims you can lose 14 pounds in just 10 days by eating drinking this amazing product.

Aunt Jemima never even let uncle Ben eat that much syrup

The craze started after pop singer and actress Beyonce Knowles said she used Madal Bal Natural Tree Syrup to lose weight for her next film. It should be noted that, Ms Knowles does not hold any certification in nutrition and has more money than many small countries to spend on personal trainers.

The syrup costs approximately £39.99 ($57 CDN) per litre and is flying off nutrition store shelves throughout Britain.

The solution is made of water, lemon juice and cayenne pepper and dieters drink the mixture instead of eating meals.

The diet has actually been around since 1985 when it was invented by a Swiss health company.

The revolutionary weight loss product has only one UK distributer called Pure Natural Products. Cuka Clarke who runs the business with her husband and sons told the "Five years ago we were selling about 500 pots a year, mainly to friends and relatives.

"Now we are selling about 2,000 a month. People recommend it to each other because the results are so amazing.

"It is safe - fasting is as old as the Bible. When you are born you spend nine months on a liquid diet and when you are ill in hospital they put you on a liquid diet.

Here at WorldFitness, we are a bit leery of any product which claims to have the miracle solution.

“Going without food and only drinking a syrup solution is not good for you,” said certified nutritionist Mia Blake. “People see a dramatic weight loss because of the drastic reduction in calories”

Any health professional will agree, any product that appears to be “too good to be true” probably is.

    ----------------------------------------

sooo who could live on water mixed with maple syrup and cayenne pepper. ...safe??? SURE it is safe, it will probably take you to the hospital in few days.

14 pounds in 10 days :pop:

  3. it is true...something does not add up. Plus Karr's ex-wife said he was at home with them on that day and that since it was Christmas she knows this for sure.....but that he was obsessed with JonBenet and was spending lots of time reading about her.

very fishy very strange....I don't know what but it also seems to me that something is not right

  4. And no, I never tip for carry out. Only for waitress/waiter service.

    Jen

Yeah, thats what we thought, but the guy had the nerve to ask us for a tip. My coworker told him no and we walked away with our food.

  5. Once I was in a public restroom with a couple of friends. I didn't realize anyone else was in there. When we walked in there was just this awful smell, so I said outloud, "damn it stinks in here!" The lady from the stall replied "What do you expect sh!t to smell like?"

    ewwwwwwww :dead::lol:

  6. Yeah, I've called before to let them we had no signal after I saw someone working at some line at the pole. They kept on making me turn the router off and on then wait, then do it again. I told them I am not stupid to come over here and stop telling me to turn it off and on.

  7. one day a coworker came back from the bathroom laughing histerically. she heard vibrating noises. but she says it was constantly could not be a cell phone.

I've actually "seen" a lady sleep in there, (not seen seen, The manager got down and looked under  she saw her. ). yuck, You could hear her snoring plus a friend and I went back there after 3 hours and she was still there. She was fired :innocent::unsure: maybe we should have not told the manager.

  8. one video where it looks like he floats there is a chair behind him......I was wondering if he can somehow use his leg to get up and his pants masking it. just and Idea

  9. Why is it that I have applied to a gizzilion places and not one have yet to call me back.....Job hunting in Chicago sucks...

    sorry....just needed to vent

    I have an Accounting degree

    Octa

    Hi Octa,

Have you tried www.aba.com (American Bankers Association). They have a very substantive job bank and you can search by state - I have seen accounting openings in the past. You can also try www.efinancialcareers.com. Good luck!

(Good Luck to ALL job hunters)

Thanks for the links. I'll give a look right now.

  10. And Octa: I met my husband in a Yahoo chatroom too. Let people say whatever they want.

For me, that was over 6 years ago and we've been married 3 of those years so far. People tend to not say too much anymore about the fact that we met online. Other than to point out that we are one of the "success stories". :D

i met nessa in a yahoo gameroom. must be something about yahoo

    Forever grateful to Yahoo...

  11. Yeah, it was all little slight of hand BS like card tricks and tricks with coins and that kind of unimpressive bodge. I think the least impressive thing was his attitude-"Look at ME, I'm hot s***." Lots of flowy, flippy movements with his hands, he was about your average street magician, just with the self-promotion and attitude.

:lol: Derek Acourah......that guy is a freak!!! I just cannot stand him....

He ruins Most Haunted for me, thank God I found out today he's not on the show anymore-maybe I'll watch it now.

argh Chris Angle. My husband drives me mad with this guy. Every time there is a clip of him , he makes me watch it 'cause he is sooooo impressed by him. I can't stand it anymore.

  12. Why is it that I have applied to a gizzilion places and not one have yet to call me back.....Job hunting in Chicago sucks...

    sorry....just needed to vent

You are sooo right. I have a job with a bank (that I hate) and I was looking for another job.

So I don't know how it is with other companies, but where I work I see new people every day. One catch though, they are all relatives of other employees. Its driving me crazy, seeing that all the jobs are taken by someone's sister, mother, brother, child, nephew, blah blah. I hate it when there is an opening and I apply and I find out the boss' daughter got the job. #######? I'm sooo upset as many of my coworkers are, I have an Accounting degree and here comes his daughter, just a high-school diploma and takes the job!

    Octa

  13. I didn't like to tell people the whole story either. Some people are judgemental. When I first told someone, she looked at me like I was crazy, I bet some people who know the whole story with us meeting in a Yahoo room and all that still talk about us. .. I know people jump to conclusions, and they do talk about me and my husband behind our backs, even those who pretend to be our friends.

I've heard that some have said he married me just to come to the US...It's sad and thats why I usually try to keep some stuff to myself and keep the coworkers out of my personal life. Still, the ones talking are my parent;'s friends...

  14. Problem is, you're under the minimum calorie limit and that's unhealthy-wouldn't want to collapse in the aisle at your wedding!

It is true, I have started this so called diet on Thursday and right now 7 pounds off. I have altered it a bit though to add about 300 more calories

  15. Extreme weight loss = not healthy

    still here it goes:

    Breakfast

if you drink coffee then one cup of black coffee with no sugar no cream no nothing

if you don't drink coffee then one cup of tea with no sugar

    Lunch

    2 boiled eggs

    2 cups spinach

(I just can't eat boiled eggs every single day. Still I substituted the eggs with tomatoes/salads/ even yogurt)

    Dinner

one chicken breast with salad (no dressing/ can substitute chicken with fish)

    Fridays:

eat anything you want just small portions. (I guess for only 9 days I would not follow this)

ALL DAY /Between this so called MEALS  drink lots of water with squeezed lemon in it.

Extreme......you will feel hungry most (all) of the time but guaranteed to lose alot in short time...20 lbs in 2 weeks...

  16. I got this program Dreamweaver, there are others but I took a Multimedia class where I learned how to use this one.

Sites are first made and then posted...If you use simple HTML codes and just do it in Wordpad you also do it first and then just preview the site in Internet Explorer/etc.

I'm not an expert but there are many ways in which you can develop a site. Good Luck!
