Sigh. I think a lot of that "argumentative" energy stems from people being impatient with a process that is opaque and unpredictable. Not that it justifies that sort of behavior, mind you.
I think it's a case of "Why doesn't the world work the way -I- want it too! All this is inconveniencing ME and that means it's wrong the system is wrong!"
