Yes, you are exempt. The new fee is for "Any individual who on or after February 1, 2013 receives an immigrant visa package from a United States consulate or embassy abroad (including Canada and Mexico) will pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee."
-
At least $ 28, 812.

lets all just hope and pray from Monday all of us will hear good news!!
-
I'm hoping for an early feb date so I can go to the interview with my wife. According to past VJers timeline, there's a 80% chance i get a Feb 4-6 date.
-
Everyone is receiving it....
-
Same here!when was your case completed?!
C.C. 12/14, Yours?
-
This is good. You got some attention to your case. Hopefully they keep true to their word.
-
Its case dependent. Average time from initial file to interview is about one year. Please read the guides...
-
If it doesn't apply to your case, Ignore it. NVC is spamming everyone with one or two of these starting yesterday.

hi happy new year to all of you! still waiting for interview sched while waiting for the result of my sputum culture this feb.
how are you guys doing? i was wondering if any of you received the nvc notice yesterday january 3. well i didnt received it personally but it was sent to my husband's email (he's the usc) anyway the subject is nvc notification and the letter itself was addressed to my husband but the body of the letter has my name. like "dear (my name)" its regarding the i-601a something like that. that starting march 4. I know its just a notice but it got me confused since it was just sent to my husband's email and not mine but it has the "dear" part with my name. Are you guys familiar with this?
Its the same for me, I'm the USC, my wife didn't get an email. I did get two emails. No worries, Darnell says its NVC spamming all recent 130 approvals (something new). I'm guessing the email goes to the petitioner. If it doesn't apply to your case you can ignore it.

Fantastic news Dwheels!!! I'm so happy for you!!
Thanks for the update Darnell!

Has anyone gotten I-601A Notice? I know it says "This notice applies to you if you are currently in the United States..." Since my wife has never been in the united states, I will ignore it. Do I have to email NVC letting them know this does not apply? or by ignoring it tells them this does not apply. I don't want to delay my wife's interview date. Just wanted some feedback to ensure i'm on the right track..
Subject: I-601A PROVISIONAL WAIVER OF UNLAWFUL PRESENCE
January 3, 2013
NVC Case Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Dear XXXXXXXXXXX:
This notice applies to you if you are currently in the United States, are or have been unlawfully present
and plan to apply for an immigrant visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad.
Beginning March 4, 2013, certain immediate relatives of U.S. citizens may apply for a provisional
waiver of inadmissibility due to unlawful presence before leaving the United States. For more
information, please visit immigrantvisas.state.gov.
Before filing Form I-601A, YOU MUST NOTIFY THE NATIONAL VISA CENTER (NVC) by
emailing NVCI601A@state.gov. Failure to notify the NVC that you plan to file Form I-601A will delay
your visa application.
Thanks!

Does calling DOS helps? every time i call they say no interview date is assigned and when i asked about the process or expect timeline, they say they don't know, call NVC...
-
Something sure is not right. Is it just few of us here who is having issues or is there tons of other people too that we dont know about?
There are lots of April and March filers still awaiting approval. If you do a search on your receipt number you will see there are many. I know there are about 300 receipt numbers for 4/24 for I-130s and only a handful is approved. With the current backlogged seems like congressional-help my not but much help. I guess the only thing to do is get a service request from a teir 2 every 30 days...
-
Seems like you're good.
-
I guess NVC has started Scheduling Feb. Interviews. VJer, jamdown22 got theirs today
-
Congrats!!
Guess NVC started their Jan scheduling today this is exciting news... Hope i get mine sooon..
-
So I assume they don't bother putting "case complete"?
I don't think so... I know EP cases get an email for case complete. On rare occasions, NON-EP cases get a case complete email.
-
it will say "Ready" when an interview date is scheduled.
-
Checking in.... Awaiting interview date if I'm lucky, I'll get a late January/early February.
-
I think i takes time for the email to go thru the system??? not sure cause i got the same email Christmas morning.
dO YOU PEOPLE KNOW HOW LONG TIME FOR BRAZILIAN RIO CONSULATE SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW AFTER CASE COMPLETED?
I JUST RECEIVE THIS E-MAIL TODAY JANUARY, 1ST (DO THEY WORK TODAY ?)
Dear Sir or Madam:
The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing
of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner
and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.
The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment
until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.
The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of
the interview. Additional documentation requirements if applicable can be referenced at
the following URL....
SORRY IF IT IS NOT IS THIS THREAD...
-
According to the USCIS website it says 6 months.

Give them a call and see what's up, it won't hurt.
