  1. HI everyone,

Just had our AOS Interview yesterday, IO was okay and polite. It was a usual Interview questions such as how we met, what happened next then asked for documents showing both our names on it like bank statements etc. IO also looked at our original documents and took some of our wedding photos, Interview lasted for like 20 minutes then IO informed us that he will recommend our case for approval in short he did not approve us on the spot, according to him his supervisor needs to check if he did everything correct with our papers. IO gave us a Removal of Condition slip that the three of us signed, he explained a bit with regards to the same and informed us that if our case will be approved we will be receiving my green card in 2 to 3 weeks. I was really confused because i don't know if we got approved or not, all i know is that IO did not stamp my Passport, did not even ask for my EAD and did not take my i-94's at firs i was calm but when our online status changed within the day from testing/interview back to initial review i started to panick..

can someone shed a light on this...

    Thank you.

Don't worry about it. Everything is beyond fine

  2. I'm at 13...1999 is when I finished HS

Not going to stress anymore. I already believe they lost it, nothing I can do until Monday. My SIL is taking the kids for the weekend starting tomorrow. I have my Bio and later date night with hubby. Saturday night the reunion and I'm getting the kids back on Sunday.

Not going to ruin a perfect weekend for something that is out of MY control right now. Monday I'll deal with that

Woohoo nothing beats date night. You're right about that no need to stress out about what u have no control about. Make sure you have lots of fun this weekend(and you get to sleep in).

  3. You should be good then. I know how this process is. It was longest 3 months in my life for sure:) In the end you will ask yourself why was I so stressed out. The stress makes it all worth it in the end. The moment you realize you are finally free is an amazing feeling...:) All the very best to you...

Thank you :) Ive been stressing out even before i mailed the petition. My husband is just so relaxed it nauseating. I can't wait for it to be over.

  4. If you have the birth certificate already, I did the translations online, was very fast and accurate since they sent you a preview before.

Congrats on your pregnancy!! Bed rest SUCKS! 1 baby only or more? hahaha. What are you having?

You should totally start breathing heavily at the interview and say "my water just broke", take pics tho..hahaha

I was the one saying that BTW, gave me a piece of mind

Did the mail man come bearing gifts today?

  5. Thank you. If you've been married for a long time and haven't filed jointly? There could be questions about it. If you are newly weds, its not a big deal. Just make sure you file jointly for ROC or have a good reason for filing separately if you do.

I know that it shouldn't be a big deal but i guess when you're going through that process everything negative you hear makes you nervous or question your petition. We got married in Feb and he'd already filed his taxes so there was no way we could file jointly. We're definitely going to file jointly this coming tax season though.

  6. Nope, they refuse to believe the letter got lost in the mail like I told them twice already and they say they can't send me another one before the 15 day mark.

I told her "lets be real here, if the other letters came in the mail 3 days later and it has been 11, this letter is not coming". The answer was "you never know, maybe it is delayed at the post office for some reason" They will send a new letter when I call on monday, with the original date and dateline.

They just don't want to admit that they screw it and the letter got lost/they lost it.

I did an appointment for an Infopass, October 1st was the first date available in Downtown Chicago (1.5 hours away with no traffic). I have to go for my Biometrics on friday.

I'm so upset right now with them that is not even funny anymore

This is absolutely ludicrous. Don't expect them to admit to their mishap. It'll never happen. Just try to keep your cool when you speak to them

  7. Awww you guys have such amazing stories. Mine isn't anything as romantic lol. I am the immigrant from Dominica and my hubby is USC. We were introduced and met 2 yrs ago at a bar in the city by his best friend. We hit it off from the beginningJust an update.... He was impressed by the fact that i knew so much about sport and i could keep up with him(and still be able to stand) in taking shots, and he loved my accent. We were inseparable the entire night but we never exchanged number or gave each other any kind of indication that we were interested. My cellphone rang the next day, when i didn't answer(never answer my phone if i don't know the number) he sent a text me letting me know it was him. Anyway long story short he took me to dinner at this Hibachi restaurant where he knows everybody down to the chef. We had a lovely dinner we spoke about his family, mine, our childhood. When we were leaving the restaurant he handed something to our server and told him to give it to whomever. When i asked him what that was all about he said it was his declaration LOL. Four days after dinner (November 18) at the restaurant and speaking tirelessly day and night he left for Dominica Republic with his best friend for a wedding. He was barely on the plane and i was missing him like crazy. I tracked his flight online from take off to landing. As soon as he landed he called me and told me that he missed and he couldn't imagine his life without me and asked me to be his GF.

After our wedding we went to that same restaurant he took me to for our first date, and he retrieved that napkin he'd given to our serve. On it was written the date we came in and " You've made my heart smile the moment i saw you walk through that door. You don't know it yet but i'm gonna make you my wife, never again will i ever be without you". That's my story

  8. All we have are a joint credit card account with me as an authorized user (same number), some cards from our family regarding the wedding, a few bits of mail I've received at the address and our marriage certificate.

We haven't been able to get a joint bank account with the bank we want. I've heard that you can open one with BoA without SSN, but we don't want to open an account with them just to show someone we're married - that isn't what married couples do, just open stuff to prove something. So we'll just wait on that one.

We live with her father now so we're going to get him to write a letter stating that we live with him, that he pays all the bills and we don't pay rent etc.

You can't take what you don't have. A good IO will know when you're being genuine. If you've only been together a short time, too much could see suspicious to an IO. People on F-1 or J-1 have had more time to build up their history and whatnot as they've lived together, or at least been in the US together, to do it.

Think I have to agree with you

  9. We really don't have a lot of documentation for our marriage. I rent with a friend, she owns the home. She is gone a lot so I take care of her pets while she is away. So all bills are in her name (she's owned the house for 11 yrs). Without the EAD, Gesi cannot get his SSN and my bank absolutely will not let me add him without a SSN. Nor will my job allow me to add him to my health insurance. I was able to add him to my life insurance as a beneficiary but that was submitted with original packet. I guess affidavits are going to be our only addition as we can't get anything else. There is a possibly move to Texas in Feb/Mar so I want to wait to find out about that before getting our own place together. I am originally from there so moving back is my goal. :)

Thanks and same to you. I hope that you guys interview goes smoothly. Since your friend owns the home I think you should ask her to draw up a lease with both you guys name or at least have her write a letter stating you guys rent her home and all utilities are included in the rent. Make sure that it's signed and notarized.nthat should suffice. Also, did you add him as an authorized user on your credit card? His name won't be on the statement but at least you guys will have matching cards of which you can make copies and take to the interview. It'll show that you trust him with your money. May be what seals the deal with the IO as proof of bonafide marriage.

Good luck with your move by the way.

  10. 2 days until my biometrics.

    Just a quick one though:

I can't seem to persuade my ride to the appointment to leave earlier than we have to. If I'm late, will they still let me have my appointment? I just worry about traffic and stuff like that...

I guess it depends on the office and also the number of people waiting(and are on time)

    That will do it...

I sure as hell hope so cause that's all i have

USCIS received my application package on 8/14/2012. We've completed biometrics and are waiting for the interview notice at this point. I've been checking the status of the application online and the I-130 and I-765 are currently in Initial Processing while the I-485 is still in Acceptance. Is this usual? Will the I-485 only change to Initial Processing after the I-130 is approved?

Yes it is. My I-130 and I-765 still shows initial review while my I-485 didn't change from "acceptance" staus until i got my interview notice
