Dude I would honestly get the hell out of that right now. If you are caught doing that, you could face time in prison.
Just tell her its off and cut your losses. Or go to prison and start a business with a guy named Brick,+

On another ANGRIER note. Its because of people like you doing like this that honest, real couples who are in love (aka me and my husband) have had to live in near poverty because the government makes such tight guidelines.
    so eff you.

    UPDATE
    NVC RECEIVED OUR CASE!
I called the NVC today and they said the case was received on June 17. I almost didn't call, because I was waiting for an update from my Congressman.
An IO at the Newark field office told my Congressman's office on June 12 that they still had the file and were going to review it again and then give them an update. I called my Congressman's office on June 18 to follow up, and the staff assistant said she was still waiting for an update from the IO in Newark and was going to give them until the end of this week before contacting the IO again. I guess the IO never gave them the update...
But I'm sure if I didn't contact my Congressman, the file would still be sitting in Newark. BIG thanks to Darnell for the advice. Now I just have to wait for the Case and IIN #s. But what a relief to know it's at the NVC!

The process is out of control. It is the best example of bureaucratic rule. Hang in there and try not to be frustrated. Knowing what it is, is helpful in understanding why it is not responsive to our needs. Once the process is over and we are united with our loved ones, we all can get on with our lives.

Yeah, it would be nice if they actually cared about what we're going through being apart from our spouses. For me, not knowing or being told anything makes it feel like there's no hope in this process

I just have to say this: it's these sorts of issues that make it harder for people who live and work in the country legally. For every document that a lot of us here had to apply for, and every convoluted Instruction Sheet we had to study, is a person out there who is forging a document or buying a fake Social Security Card. I do hope your husband finally tells you all the "new info" that you need. It's tough that his mother put him into this situation. I just can't say that I am sympathetic with the way he chose to deal with it. A lawyer might be though. Sounds like hours and hours of consult time.

Not all. Not even most I don't think. The simple answer to that question is "we don't know" There are a lot of cases on here where the USC is in the US and the beneficiary abroad and yet their case never seems to have left NBC. So I'm not sure what the criteria is that would keep the file at NBC instead of transferring to a field office, but there's seems to be one.

Congrats! Hey don't feel guilty. It is what it is. I'm starting to get the feeling that USCIS has A LOT of I-130s to process right now and probably the cases where the petitioner and beneficiary are living together are easier for them to get out of the way...hopefully it's so they can get to the other cases faster.
