  1. Dear All,

sorry for asking silly query but i think its very important to know because iam confuse

Can i write choice of agent first name first or last name first in ds3032 form

    kindly help

Here in the USA, we write the given names first, and then we write the family name last. That is is how we address the envelopes when we send letters in the mail. The DS-3032 is basically asking for a mailing address. You should write the family name last when writing someone's address, and also when filling out all US forms that don't specify where to put first (given) name and last (family) name.

  2. Hmmm.... by any chance, was it transferred to Lee's Summit, Missouri? Mine was. From what I have read, it's not a bad thing. Your case was accepted by USCIS, and you have not gotten an RFE. The letter you received, like mine, was not asking for more information. It is telling you to be patient. So relax. There is nothing to do at this point.

  3. Hey guys, appologises for posting again but Im getting nothing back, and can find nothing when searching on google or in here.

We filed for the CR1 8th August, sent off all relevent documents for the I-130,recieved NOA1 18th August via email stating confirmation and reciept on way in the post.........letter arrives saying on the 21st August saying our case has been sent onto another office as it is in our jurisdiction???? The address was for Missouri.

My husband is in NC....I cannot find anyone else that this has happened too,I cant find proccessing times for Missouri regarding the I-130.....I don't understand why our case has been sent from Vermont to Missouri?

PLEASE advice needed, should my husband call someone tomorrow?

    Thanks guys.

    Hi Lynndy,

The same thing happened to me! First, an email says file is en route to Vermont. Now, the I-797C letter states petition has been transferred to Lee's Summit, MO. At the bottom of the letter there is the Vermont Service Center address. It's not clear at all, but it seems maybe the file has to go to Missouri before it gets to Vermont. When I check case status online, Missouri is not an option for selecting an office. So, if Missouri is not a service center, I'm guessing maybe it's just acting as a holding place for now because Vermont is full. :(

    Best wishes,

  4. From my knowledge, the only people getting through in three months are ones that were routed to the CSC. Also, that is only the first stage which usually takes the longest. Then you have to go through the NVC. The whole process approximately takes 8 - 10 months if everything goes smooth. Unfortunately for us, we will not have our spouse's with us before the end of the year. Unless we get expedited for some miraculous reason, but even then the process will need longer than 3 months. You should also fix your timeline. Patience is our friend.

From what I saw on the graphs, there are cycles. If you look, you will see what I mean. Throughout the year, CSC is not always the fastest. Right now, it shows CSC approvals took three months, and VSC approvals now took five months. However, this coming November it could be different. Those updated graphs could show VSC approvals at that time could have taken only three months (that'd be us!). Hey, I'm trying to think positively!

  5. Hopefully all of the August 2012 filers can use this thread to keep each other updated on the status of our cases. It is nice to know how others with similar filing dates are doing. My I-130 was sent to VSC and from all the reading I've been doing, they seem to be very backed up. I hope they can pick up the slack. I am really not wanting to wait more than 5 months. I hope we're all in for a smooth ride.

    Hi ALSA,

I got an email (NOA1) that says my file is being sent to Vermont also. Aren't some people getting through in less than three months? I'd love to see my husband here by the end of the year! :D

    Good luck and best wishes

  6. I got married 7/14 and I am working on getting my Cr1 packet ready. I do have a question about the evidence for a bonafied marriage.

i do plan to have my brother, a friend , pastor, and her brother sign an affidavit but I wanted to get your opinion about the template.

Does it matter if the verbiage for the template is similar to each one (other than obviously the name, address..etc personal info that each one will have)?

or should I request that each person write their own ? Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

    thanks !

The affidavits I sent with my petition were different. I read somewhere that the affidavit signers are supposed to tell about what they know about the relationship and why the believe it's real. Identical verbiage won't seem very authentic. For example, one could say they went out on double dates with you two. Another one could say they witnessed him presenting her with certain presents or flowers, etc. I also read that affidavits signed by US citizens are more valuable.

    Good luck!

  7. I've seen posts for women who want to change their name after marriage but not for men who just want to change their name period during the immigration process.

The situation: my husband (beneficiary) wants to legally change his name. I've read in places that this can be done at the interview. Is it possible? What papers would he need to bring along?

We are doing a CR-1 visa and are nearly at the interview stage.

    Thanks.

The visa and green card will be issued in whichever name shows on his passport. So, if he changes his name legally in India, he should get a new passport with the new name and bring it to the interview. I'm not an expert, but it would make sense to also bring the court documents that show his name was changed legally, and he would probably need another set of police clearance certificates for his new identity. I would call NVC to find out for sure if anything else is needed.

  8. Hi,

You ask how long is she allowed to stay in the USA? If you apply for her to get a tourist visa, it will be limited. But, you can apply for her to get an immigrant visa (CR-1 visa) since she is your spouse. Once the immigrant visa is approved, she will be a legal permanent resident who may stay as long as she wants.

Getting the CR-1 visa approved is a longer and more involved process than a tourist visa, and more expensive. Filing fees for all the paperwork come to about $730 in all, and the wait time is approximately six months if you've done everything right. For many, it takes much longer. There is no restriction regarding how long you have been married; however, you will need to show some evidence that you are in a bona fide marriage/relationship.

  9. Pls help me , they said I should send emails, pictures, call cards ,did anyone do it ,from what year if the relationship did u send

Send phone records going back at least two years, if you can.

Send emails going back at at least two years (not all of your emails, more than twenty would be overkill).

Scan envelopes and packages sent to each other in the mail so that they can see the dates on the postmarks.

If your camera automatically stamps the date on your photos, it would be good to send some of those.

From what year do you send the proof? If you knew each other ten years ago, then it would be great to send something from ten years ago!

  10. My wife got her CR-1 visa through direct consular filing in Seoul after a long process on Aug. 7. When we looked at the expiration date, to our dismay, it said Sept. 7. We thought the CR1 expired six months after the interview, but is it six months after the medical?

Anyway, we had already bought tickets from Seoul to Thailand and then a trip home from Thailand to NYC on Sept. 13 before we realized that her visa was set to expire before the end of the trip.

So I have a few questions:

    1) Does the CR1 expire six months after the medical exam or six months after the interview?

    2) Could she make her first entry in Guam before the expiration date and then return to Thailand and fly home as planned?

    3) And if she has to be there on or before Aug. 7, can she go before me?

I read this, but am I the applicant or is she?

    Thank you very, very much.

Congratulations! No, you are not he applicant. She is! I think it's better to change your ticket than to get a whole new visa approved.

  11. My husband had his interview on December 8th on the Ivory Coast. He left not knowing if he was approved or denied. They said they'd call him. They told us to wait 2 weeks before contacting the Consulate to check on the status of the petition. TODAY is 2 weeks. I emailed them lastnight so when they got in this morning it was there. I received the following response ...

    Dear Mrs. Egbosimba,

Your husband’s petition was approved and he will be contacted as soon as his Immigrant Visa packet is ready to be picked up.

    Happy holidays,

    The Consular Section

Merry Christmas to everyone! God Bless and good luck on this journey!

    Congratulations Egbosimbas!

I have filed a I-130 petition for my husband who is in Ivory Coast. Do you have the email address for the embassy? I told my husband he will need a police clearance. He said they have something there called a "Caisier Judiciare". We need to know if that is the same thing. Did your husband submit a "Caisier Judiciare" as a police clearnace?

    Thanks,

  12. the of- 169 is no longer in use there is a new one ds-2001 its a form you file that your ready for the interview like a check list of all your documents an other papers, your telling that you have every thing all papers and documents you are now ready for the interview.

Thanks, JKelly! I have found a few different guides and flow charts. I think that one that mentions an OF-169 is very old and should be taken off the site or kindly updated. It can be very confusing for a newbie to read old and/or conflicting information!

  13. reread a bit ???

If you wish to 'go fast', one doesn't wait on anything to arrive via postal mail.

Thanks, Darnell! I have read the EZ guide. On this website (click the tab that says "Guides" at the top of this page), there is another guide that gives more details. This is where it mentions a OF-169 form. Do you know what it is??

  14. Hello friends, I am slowly understanding this entire process as I am getting my I-130 packet ready to ship. The step-by-step guide is really helpful, but it mentions a OF-169 form that I don't find on the USCIS website. What is that form for?? and where do I find it??

The following is from the step-by-step guide here on VisaJourney that explains how to apply for a CR1 visa for your spouse.

A few weeks after you have received your last Notice of Action indicating the approval and forwarding of your I-130 application to the NVC, the NVC will send your relative a packet of forms that you and your relative must fill out before your relative can be given an interview date with a consulate abroad. The packet will likely contain an Of-169 form, and an Of-230 part one and two forms that must be filled out by the intending immigrant. An I-864 form is also included that must be filled out by the petitioner (living in the US). The I-864 is the Affidavit of Support form that requires copies of the petitioners past 3 U.S tax returns (or tax transcripts which are free from the IRS) as well as any bank or financial records available (see the I-864 for exact requirements based on your case). The petitioner must make at least 125% above the U.S federal poverty to indicate to the U.S government that the intending immigrant will not become a federal charge to the government when he/she arrives in the U.S..

  15. Hi,

I'm a US Citizen who just got married in the Ivory Coast on June 15,2012. I am back in the States now and am researching online how to bring my husband here. I understand I need to file an I-130 for a his CR-1 visa. He won't need an I-485 as well, will he? It seems there are other forms to fill out and my question is can other forms (G325a and I864ez perhaps) be sent along with the I-130 as the first step in order to save time? or do I send just the I-130 alone at first? Also do I send money with the I-130 or wait until I'm sent a bill? As I am just at the beginning of this process, any tips that anyone can provide for shortcuts would be much appreciated! I don't have money to pay a lawyer. I figure all the information can be found online. I stumbled upon LingChe's shortcut page; however, I didn't understand all the anachronyms!

    Thanks in advance,

    Treva
