  1. Perhaps I have found an answer. I found these glossary terms:

Applicant (Visa): A foreign citizen who is applying for a nonimmigrant or immigrant U.S. visa. The visa applicant may also be referred as a beneficiary for petition based visas

Beneficiary: An applicant for a visa as named in a petition from the DHS, USCIS.

There is no definition of Petitioner. S0 based on this, my understanding is that Applicant and Beneficiary are one and the same and that Petitioner is different.

Which means, I am the petitioner and my husband is both the applicant and beneficiary. Can anyone corroborate this?

    Thanks!

See, Now this is difficult to understand, on the G-1145 form, it asks the Applicant/Petitioner to fill out their name on the form...with that, I was thinking it was me, the Sponsor.....I'm still looking for the definition in regards to the Immigration Dept.....any help on this silly, but still somewhat important issue, would be appriciated.

  2. I had my interview last Jan. 22, 2013 but was given a 221 g from asking to pass a new nbi clreance. I was able to sent the document last Jan. 24 and was received by USEM Manila last Jan.28. Then I checked my visa status last Jan. 31 and it says issued with the updated date Jan.31 and then I checked it again last Mon. ( Feb. 4 ) and same thing it says issued with the updated date..Feb. 4..What does issued mean? Is it approved, printed or what? and how long will it take before I can get the visa.. Thank you very much.

  3. My fiancee had her interview today in Manila. All went well, except one very small thing. On her birth certificate the mid-wife whom filled out the certificate spelled the family name wrong by one letter, she put an "E" in the name when it should have been an "A". And this was caught by the embassy workers. Fiancee was told to get a new NBI with the family name spelled with an "E" and send it to the Embassy. Consular did keep her passport to stamp with the Visa when they receive the needed documentation.

My questions are; Will the NBI office give her problems issuing her this new form with the other family name on it for the Embassy.

And if NBI does, how long will this process take to receive the visa.

    Any input on this??

  4. Hi all,

We are just a little confused, is the DS-230 form needed for a K-1 visa interview, it is on the required documents page ......http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html#6

    Required Documentation

You, the foreign-citizen fiancé(e), (and eligible children applying for K-2 visas) will be required to bring the following forms and documents to the visa interview:

    • Two (2) Nonimmigrant Visa Applications, Form DS-156 (prepared in duplicate). NOTE: K-1/K-2 visa applicants should not fill in Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application
    • One (1) Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application, Form DS-156K
    • One (1) Application For Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Form DS-230, Part I (You are not required to complete Part II.)

K Visa applicants applying at U.S. Consulate General Montreal and U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez have different application form requirements. Review information on the U.S. Consulate General Montreal or U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez website to learn which forms you must complete.

    • A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions)
    • Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor
    • Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for 6 months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)
    • Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)
    • Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)
    • Two (2) 2x2 photographs. See the required photo format explained in Photograph Requirements
    • Evidence of relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e)
    • Payment of fees, as explained below

Also, the DS-157 is not on the list, and we thought DS-157 is required, can someone please clarify these requirement.

Our interview is on Jan. 22nd....so we are double checking everything.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mick and Leila

  5. Hi folks,

As the topic says;.... After the Interview..Is it possible to get theVisa the next day.....and how to do it?........I was told by someone that went thru the process, that if I am present for the Interview with my fiancee in Manila, that we can request the Visa to be expedited, and receive it the next day....How can this happen, and what do I need to do if this is possible to make this happen?.....also, these folks that told me this, is theirs a isolated incidence that they received their Visa the next day, or does this happen often?....I cannot afford two trips to the Philippines; one for the Interview and another trip to escort her to the US....It would be wonderful to do it all in one visit and accompany her to the Interview.

    Thank in advance

  6. I am getting extremely disheartened as well seeing people with NOA1 dates after me getting approved :( I dunno what to think anymore but I am really frustrated now that I still have to wait another long four days till they start working again. And calling them does not help at all!! Is it really possible that it may be lost or something?? I am having nightmares lately, it's so sad :(

    relsamy,

My fiancee was extremely frustrated seeing the same (others getting approved that filed after us) also to the point that she wasnt smiling anymore when we chatted on Skype, which was sad to me, cuz always I looked forward to see that smile every day. The delay bothered me also but theres nothing I could do but just have faith, I was absolutely sure it would come.....of course I did have moments of weakness, but reading the post here I realized that this is normal. Anyways, I do get to see her smile again now, which in turn overwhelms my heart.

So, Pray and have Faith, all this worry will just age you faster, cuz everyday your one step closer.....I know its easy for me to say all this, however we are not done yet, still have hurdles to overcome...... but we'll get there.

    God Bless

  7. You should go to Norther Cali..Big Bear and you could do wine country...or look at staying in a yurt on the ocean in Big Sur for a few nites.

Thank for the idea....we are in Alabama, and was considering we might drive to the Tennessee mountains and get a cabin there or drive up to the Great Lakes around to Niagra Falls then to NY city....I've never been that far up north and of course it will be all new to Leila....making a stop at Cedar Point for I am a roller coaster lover and she wants to try...but its all up in the air for now, still thinking.

I am from Cali. and have been there, done that already....but also thought about going there and visiting family and friends. Anything can happen.

  8. We are planning a Ocean Cruise for our Honeymoon to the Caribbean directly after our Wedding when my fiancee arrives from the Philippines.....she will be on either K1 status or on AOS......I read some where, I think on the Immigration site that she cannot leave the US....would this include a Caribbean trip???....do we need to change our plans???....is it a non-issue and we can continue to plan our trip???....or is there something we can do.

    Thanks in advance

  9. WOW 4 MONTHS AND YOUR COMPLAINING? Try waiting 18 like my wife and I did. Then you can complain! Start to worry after a year!

Don't bother Senators and Congressmen for trivial things. You're not out of the timeline until 6 Months PLUS 1!

Holy Moly!!!!......18 months!!!!......very very sorry to hear that.....we're just thinking WHY the difference in processing time between Cali and Vermont....it takes good management to share production workload....if the processing was contracted out to private companies, I believe the timeline would be much quicker and proficient.

  10. Many many of us feel your pain and anxiety. It gets worse with each passing day and week and month. Ours is about a month earlier than yours and we are still waiting as well. I called USCIS when it passed the 5 month mark which was supposedly past the normal proccessing time when I called. Only to be told it was still within normal times.........whatever.....Now the time has officially been changed on USCIS to 6 months proccessing, so when I hit 6 months and call, likely I'll get the same response "normal proccessing times" etc. Extremely frustrating proccess and unfortunately all we can do is wait. I really don't think any amount of calling, crying, begging, whining or congressmen is going to change anything. We are at big brother's mercy and all we can do is ponder why we were subjected to VSC instead of CSC in which case our significant other would have already been in the states. Best of luck to you, keep the faith, I guess after it's finally over it won't seem so bad. Take care.

Thanks for your words of advise and your experiences with USCIS........we are always hopeful, and positive.......I know there are many out there feeling the pain....sad thing is, this is our tax $$$ at work for us....just like everything else our GOV'T does................slooooooooooooooow, lazy and costly and most times rude to the tax paying public.........nevertheless, we will sit and wait, and encourage each other........Truly, Thank God for Skype....if it wasn't for Skype, I could'nt see my baby's smile

  11. Good luck and hang in there a little while longer! Don't underestimate a congressman's help when you are outside the processing times. They do represent us, and some are very good at what they do. Reluctance to ask won't do anything though. Also Mick_n_Leila, your timeline states "Texas Service Center". You can change this to Vermont by editing your timeline and get/contribute a more relevant estimate in waiting. :)

Thank you for the advice....oh, and I will make that call and/or email to every one involved the moment the clock strikes past the appointed time...... and ........Congrats!!!! on receiving your NOA2 approval recently....thats great!!!....yep, we're just hanging out waiting, waiting, waiting..............
