  1. You will. In my case, I got emails but not txt.

After you get the MSC number, go here to create the account then you can control the email/text notification.

Hi, thanks for the info. From your timeline I see you got your email 8 days after delivery (a good reason we update our timelines!). I figured it would take a little bit of time for my paperwork to get into the system.

  2. Mailed the packet (I-130/I-485)on 8/8 which was delivered on 8/10. Received Bio appointment letter on 8/18 for 8/31 appointment - still waiting for NOA1 though! Oh the waiting game! Good luck to you all August filers - it'll be interesting to see the paces at which our different cases move!

That's a pretty quick bio-metrics appointment. I guess it moves at different paces around the US depending on how much work each office has?

I'm hoping that my error in sending the Express packet for delivery on a Saturday will be rectified today and I can relax a little. The scanning on the USPS website hasn't updated as of yet though...

  3. I always try to fly KLM in Europe and the times I visited the US, I flew with KLM/United.

Their website when booking tickets is clear and easy to follow, the staff, in my experience, on flights are great, the food and drink available is of a good standard and you have assigned seating which is designated by how quickly you check in before you fly. There are options to buy better seating, as with any company, of course.

  4. I caught Starship Troopers the other day. Hadn't seen it in a long time. Good popcorn action from Paul 'Robocop' Verhoeven.

Blockbuster sent us Harold & Kumar's 3D Xmas recently, Neil Patrick Harris steals the show!

  5. Upon reading the poster's initial post, she says her fiance is already in the US so AOS is definitely a viable option.

I visited the US to see my then girlfriend for a couple of weeks on the VWP and I just ended up staying; I left my job and quit my apartment in a third country to stay and see what happened. We decided to get married and I just sent off my AOS package.

The guide here for that very process is simple to follow and there would be no problem in you following that process given that your fiance entered the US with no intent to immigrate. According to the USCIS themselves, intent to immigrate isn't a sole reason to deny him anyway.

Good luck in whichever option you select.

  6. Dang it, I went and made a schoolboy error...

I sent my package by USPS Express and forgot it was Saturday today, so they attempted delivery and left the following card, or at least that's what their website says:

"We attempted to deliver your item at 11:30 am on August 18, 2012 in CHICAGO, IL 60603 and a notice was left because the business was closed. You may arrange redelivery by visiting www.usps.com/redelivery or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after five days then it will be returned to the sender."

I'm hoping it will be redelivered on Monday or that it was left there and it will be picked up on Monday. I sent it to the street address for Express deliveries rather than the PO BOX as USPS wouldn't mail Express to a PO BOX.

  7. I've tended to take a lot of this advice from VJ.com with a pinch of salt. A lot of people here have been through the process and been successful. It doesn't make them experts and I find some of the response on the site condescending and flavored with a hint of bitterness, especially in regards to people that concurrently file their paperwork from folks going through K-1 or CR-1. I'm a total novice at this, but have been travelling all over the world so have no issues with visa paperwork or waiting times usually. This is different though, it's the rest of my life, not just a working visa or tourist visa...

I'm pretty sure my paperwork is good. I just tend to dissect things in my mind a little too much. My wife and I just feel great right now as it's no longer in our hands - other than to continue to collect evidence for the interview.

I see you've had your NOA1s. I bet that felt good?

  8. Regarding the timescale, my understanding is that as I'm in the US and have filed concurrently, the process should only take 4-5 months, maybe even quicker? So I buoyed by the fact it won't be too long.

I looked through all my paperwork and didn't think I had anything that would be considered and RFE. The only thing worrying me is the I-864 my wife submitted. The I-864 instructions stated that if you didn't file taxes for any reason, enclose a letter explaining circumstances. We wrote one with reference to IRS documents that explained as she earned 0 for the last three years, she wasn't required to file. The I-864 form didn't have anywhere to indicate that so we ticked the box stating that we included Federal tax returns and wrote 'see attached' next to it. Hope it will be ok?

Most cases are adjudicated and interviewed without issue, so we have that on our side. I think as long as the paperwork is correct and the evidence is solid, they don't really have a reason to reject, right?
