  1. Yah, he was talking to tier 1 CSR rep. On Friday, I'll ask him to speak to Tier 2 ISO. Thanks!! We're just trying to be patient for at least 2 weeks. But it sounds like I may have to learn to be patient for 4 to 6 weeks

Hi ludakrishna, what will be the request for? To transfer case from USCIS to NVC?

That is correct. My File has gone from Philadelphia to NBC back to Philadelphia rather than the NVC. I just got done writing to my senator.

  2. Was he talking to a customer service rep? I had the same trouble with a CSR last week. I asked the question about 3 times and she kept dodging the question or changing the subject. I finally hung up, called back and asked to speak to a tier 2 ISO. She was more helpful and said that my case hasn't left USCIS. I don't understand what's taking so long. I assume I should allow a few days for my case to go from my local office back to NBC but what now? February is almost over and they still haven't mailed anything out yet.

Call the ISO and get a e request submitted. My file was approved February 1st and was still sitting in Philadelphia as of this past Friday.

  3. Un-Flipping-Believable!!!!!! So I found out my file was sitting in Philly when I called the ISO last week. NVC didn't receive the file today either, so I decided to call the USCIS again. Guess what? The file was shipped from Philly to NBC, but then shipped back to Philly!!! AAARGHHH!!!!! Give me a break!! The ISO was super kind and created a service request and gave me a reference number. She said allow up to March 9th for NVC to get the file. I hope its sooner. I can't believe this is how my tax dollars are being wasted. If NVC hasn't received your file, I highly suggest everyone call the USCIS and find out whether it's collecting dust in one of the local field offices.

  4. I would say they reviewed your AOS package and accepted it, and this checklist is in response to that.

It's not technically a checklist, it's just reminding you that you need to bring the original passport photos with you to the interview. So, no, there's no action to take.

It could be true, but unless the operator actually spent time looking, then you might not want to believe them. But, for Canada, as with the global average, it's typically two months from case complete date to interview date. I'm guessing your interview will be sometime in April. You'd be very lucky if you got a March interview, even a late one.

I think it would be best to call up NVC and ask about this one. And don't just rely on ONE operator's response. Call a minimum of five times and ask. Take the majority answer.

Called twice already. No case yet. But they did mention that as long as the information being provided is correct and not false, it doesn't matter whether its the adopted or the biological parents. Apparently they only serious when it comes to minor, and my wife is an adult. Told me to just include the original and certified documents.

I also asked regarding certified copies having certification stamp and seal in a foreign language. As long as the document itself is in English, the approver will see the raised stamp and approve. No need to translate the entire document just for the stamp. Hope they're true.

  5. Yet another question for the VJ experts. On the G-325a, I put my wife's adoptive father and adoptive mother as the mother and father. The case was approved no problem. Now on the DS-230, I had my wife send me 2 signed copies. One with her biological parents, and the other one with her adoptive parents. For the biological parents, there is not address as they're deceased and I have the original death certificate. On my wife's passport, it has the adoptive parents listed as her mother and father.

    What route should I take.

1.) Send the DS-230 when I submit the IV with her adoptive parents, much like the G-325a and write a letter explaining why I didn't put the biological parents. I will also include the courts adoption papers along with the death certificate.

2.) Send the DS-230 with her biological parents and write a letter explaining why I put her adoptive parents on the G-325a and why her adoptive parents are on the passport + send adoption papers + death certificates .

  6. The entire document needs to be translated into english, and the translation can not be done by your wife. It must be a certified translator. NVC will not accept a scanned copy of the certified birth certificate, you need to send in the original certified AND a photocopy. They will return the original to you at the interview.

I understand regarding the adoption papers. I have original with me. My question for scanning is regarding the translation. I will submit original certified copy + scanned translation. Will that work?

  7. Now THAT is tremendously calming, to know someone else is in the same position... thank you x100. Is that the nvcresearch@state.gov e-mail? What did you say to them?

Scanned copy of my Approval and the name dob of myself and my spouse. I also indicated that I was the petitioner.

Also, my document isn't under review. They're just sitting their "waiting to be routed to New Delhi". I was like wait, why not NVC? They said, "They will go to NVC, but are awaiting to be routed to New Delhi". Made no sense. I'm even more worried now. What if these geniuses ship the case to the embassy before the NVC is complete. That's why I email the NVCResearch to get the NVC to pressure them as well.

  8. Question for the NVC stage. My wife was adopted while she was a baby. Her original copy of the adoption paper would not survive a 10k mile journey in the mail. Thus, I had her get me a certified copy from the sub-registrar office and send it to me. The entire document is in English except for the stamp applied by the sub-registrar at the bottom. Then it has his signature and the stamp.

Do I have to get the entire document translated, or can I just have the stamp translated to show that it was "taken from original court document ____________(Signature)___ Sub registrar, (City)" The quotation is the rough translation.

If I have my wife translate it, will I be able to submit the document if she scans it and then emails it to me? I want to use the scanned document. Waiting for it in the mail has been taking 3 weeks using Fedex + DHL and USPS (1.5 months).

  9. UGH! I called the NVC today and they haven't received my case yet. So I called the USCIS to see if it's even been sent out yet and it HASN'T. It's still sitting on someone's desk. The ISO says it is in status "supervisory review". That really scared me and I asked if that meant there was something wrong! The ISO laughed and said nothing was wrong, some cases are reviewed by a supervisor, and he showed that the supervisor also approved the form (otherwise I would not have been sent the approval notice). But he did say that it could be another two whole weeks before the NVC even gets the file.

Anyone have any insight on this? Is the ISO telling me a straight story? :crying: Anyone? Please?

Just called myself. My file's in the same situation. I did send a email to NVCResearch to light a fire and have them request it from USCIS as well.

  10. We called USCIS multiple times when we were waiting for the NVC to receive our case and everytime I was asked whether or not I'd like someone to call me back, and I would ALWAYS insisit on holding. I suggest you call back and when they tell you that you have 3 choices; 1.hold the line 2.someone to call you back 3.email....always tell them that you'd like to hold the line, because they won't get back to you and even if they do it won't be for another 3-4 days

I actually did choose option 1. Then I was on hold for 40 minutes when someone answered the line. They introduced themselves, took my name, case number, phone number and told me the ISO are back logged and I will be contacted within 48 hours and hung up. I was about to go ballistic. That's why I didn't call back.

  11. Roosha, you will receive the case number any day now...do you know how long it took me to get a case number?? 6 freaking weeks...well 4 weeks to get there and another 2 to be assigned a case number

WOW, that's awful. I called the USCIS to find out whether they've physically shipped my case, only be put on hold for 1 hr for an ISO and then told the ISO's are overwhelmed and will contact me in 48 hours.

I've never been this excited to getting a bill.....

  12. I have a question for the experts. Ever since my wife's co workers and manager learned about her case approval they have begun to harass her. Mostly out of jealousy as she will be coming to the US. There was a safety deposit my wife paid at the beginning. If she doesn't give them a 30 day notice, she forfeits the deposit. The sample interview letters I have seen state to not give up employment until visa is issued. My question is that if she does give up her employment prior to the interview, will it be looked at negatively by the CO? On the DS-230 it says employed. I don't want her to be continuously harassed at work.

  13. Question regarding employment verification. My employer told me that in order to get verification, I have to go on a website they have available. I went and requested the verification and got it immediately. However, it is digitally signed and won't be on company letter head. The HR spokesman said they only manually sign for I-821 I-817 and N-470. Since this is for the I-864, they can't sign it per company policy. Does anyone else have a similar situation? Will digital signature suffice employment verification and not on company letterhead.

  14. For the 1-130, I submitted 12 total pictures. 4 from our engagement, 4 from wedding, 4 from honeymoon. In addition, I submitted 13 pages of phonecall records of calls to my wife. Finally, I submitted my 401k retirement beneficiary add to my wife. The case was approved by the USCIS in Feb 1st.

My question is this for others whom have gotten their visa, did you submit any additional evidence during the NVC stage? I have an additional 8 pages of phone call records, AT&T SMS records, and Yahoo IM records. My wife's going to take all the evidence with her when she goes to the interview, but I was wondering whether I should submit it to the NVC as well.

Our local consulate will be New Delhi.
