  1. If he wants to be authorized to work as soon as possible:

    - Get married at a city hall or courthouse as soon as possible. There's no "too soon" for it. There's only "too late" with the K-1. You need a marriage license first. Each place as their own requirements. Some, you can get married the same day, some you have to wait a few days after getting the marriage license before having the ceremony. Some request a SSN, but most of them no. Inquire about it at the place where you want to get married. Once married, request certified copies of marriage certificate.

    - Get a SSN. Go to your SSA office 10 days after POE.

    - apply for AOS/EAD/AP as soon as you have all the required documents ready.

    - Once it's sent, the EAD (temporary work authorization) should be approved in 2-3 months. AOS timeline varies greatly. It can take 3 months, as it can take a year. You may or may not be scheduled for an interview.

This post pretty much sums it up. But the guides can walk you through it as well. More reading and filing out forms. Oh and MORE cash.

  2. We had the same issue with the EAD/AP card. 3 attempts. In our situation, the mail person was indicating no one was home after he states he rang the bell for signature. I work from home AND he couldnt work yet. So after speaking to Post Master and telling them that they keep returning documents from Homeland Security.....3rd time the charm. Its showed up. And surprise suprise...he didnt ring our bell that time either.

  3. I would suggest you visit her again & since she have a visa she then visit you

giving you history and getting to really know each flaws, likes & dislikes.

If you file K1 petition I think she can take her child along too when she arrives to get

marry to U within 90 days. the age is not much of a problem but meeting only once

might have the CO eyeballing stuff a little bit more.

If she comes there and marry U and AOS she will not be able to visit Jamaica until

that process is completed missing out on seeing her child for a while, an 8 yr old

    needs mommy.

Make sure she's informed if U have an ex, your kids names, pictures with family too is good

if you ever been in trouble, pay child support or owe taxes, it must be revealed to her

should they ask her at interview, otherwise U good to go buddy

You can marry her in Jamaica and file for CR1-spouse, during this period, she may or

may not be able to visit U, if she can show proof she will return home after visit she

wil probably be allowed. The fact that she got the tourist visa says she seem to have ties

to country & that helps, also be sure to keep boarding passes, hotels & restaurant receipts

    Good luck to you both.

    well said!!!good.gif

  4. Where can I go to find the poverty guidelines when filing the I-134 affidavit form? My fiancé resides in Jamaica and my parents are sponsoring us, but I would like to cross my T's and dot my I's.

I would also like to ask anyone who has had an interview at the embassy in Kingston, what are some of the questions they ask the foreign fiancé? I'm just curious because I know sometimes they ask reckless questions? I'm just curious. I can't say I'm not scared of the outcome because I am but I'm praying for the best...

You can read the embassy reviews in the Jamaican portal. Most of the time they put down the questions they were asked at the window. Thats the best place to start. Good luck!

  5. Follow your heart! Its all a leap of faith regardless of where they are from. I agree with Island Girl....there are MANY relationships that are strong and some that fail. If you do follow through...know that there is an adjustment period for both. Just because he/she gets here...it doesnt mean its going to be all sweet. Its just like any other relationship. Its going to take work. But if you follow your heart...and there is love all intertwined in it....well either way you'll be okay!

  6. In some pothole having a nervous breakdown.

Damn, Lebron ruins every bloody thing! I wish him, Charmers and that dough dough 'Waldo' would disappear so I can like Mia again.

I KNOW!!! I use to love MIA! Up until Lebron walked in. And Chalmers!! OMG...really. such a puppet!:bonk:

Mr. Smiley....where are you?? Have you fallen and can't get up?????

  7. I see you point and agree, but its a whole new ball of wax when we're finally together. Just like with any marraige, it takes time and patience and a sense of humor to get though it. And even then, it can fail. There is a huge adjustment (depending on the country) that both parties go through and if neither person is REALLY ready to adjust and grow, then it will be difficult to move forward. I personally have already experienced a HUGE blow to my friendship and marriage with my husband in a very short period of time. This process is tough. Just be patient, try not to read every story and post on here during your wait. You will drive yourself and your fiance mad.

  8. Hahaha. Bulls broke that winning streak. Booyah! Sad that I missed the game though. I need to get back on top of things.

I wasnt even going to watch that game! I was out to dinner with my friend...we're both HUGE Bulls fans...and Heat Haters! But when dinner was over..and we saw the score...I ran home and was happy happy happy!! I dont know how they pulled it off....but dang!! LOVELY to see!! ANd where is Mr. Smiley now????????

  9. When I called USCIS, they couldn't tell what type of letter it was. Do you get two letters for the biometrics appt? One for the work permit and one for the advanced parole? 2 letters were returned to them. But I received all 3 NOAs at the same address and other letters with his name on it, but for some reason they returned these 2 letters. Maybe it was a different mailman. Who knows!!!!

Or maybe it wasn't 2 letters, but on the case status website, it says the same thing on 2 of the cases....that mail was undeliverable.

You'll get 3 NOA2's. And a seperate bio letter. And yes...its because his name isnt the box. We had the same issue...but the name WAS on the box. it happened twice. I had to speak to a tier 2 operator. They told me its the mailman. I needed to speak to the post office and speak to the postmaster. Once I had that call...it was finally received. Get the mailbox adjusted asap. It takes 3-4 weeks for each re-issue of the EAD and AP card. And the EAD/AP card shows up 3-4 weeks after the biometrics appointment. I hope this helps.

  10. Derrick is such a great player - but he keeps getting injuried. Don't know if he will make it back for the playoffs

Im starting to think he should chalk up the year and wait for next. I have a feeling he'd cme back and go hard and just get injured again. We arent ready to go against teams like the heat or my beloved OKC. The rest of the bulls are tired, they wont be able to compete.
