  1. The petitioner and the applicant are the same, I believe. They typically refer to the person receiving the visa as the beneficiary. No offense, but it makes sense that they would want to know that you will have an income or assets once the visa is generated because they aren't worried that she will become a public burden until she is actually here. They don't know if you will easily find a job once you move back to the states with your wife, especially with the economy the way it is. I

'm sure it's causing you a lot of stress thinking how you will make this happen and I empathize with you but the rules about this seem pretty fair to me. It's been hard from my own personal experience for my husband to find a job. Thank goodness I have a good income and Secure job. There is at least a safety net for both you and the gov't if you know you have some security in the way of means to put a roof over your head and food on your table before your SO comes to live with you. You seem like a smart person. I'm sure you will figure a way. Do you have someone who can joint sponser?

  2. I am certainly no expert but sometimes other pairs of eyes can read the same thing and understand something different. I understood this to say that since your salary is overeas income earned and this is what you are using to ensure that your wife will not become a public burden, that you would need to provide someother source such as property or savings. Since it is assumed that once your wife immigrates that you both would be moving to the US (are you living out of the US), that the income you used for the AOS would actually not be relevant any more since you would no longer have that job, thus needing to provide some other means to prove support. Savings and property is always allowed, as I understand it, for proof but does not count dollar for dollar. That's where the 3x comes into play. If you will have the same job even if you both move to the US when she gets her visa approved, I would assume that a letter to that effect from your employer would asnswer their question about continued salary at a rate that is 125% of poverty level. That's how I intepreted the quote you put in your posting.

  3. Yeah! Congrats!! Did it really take three weeks to complete at the NVC? How did you find out it was completed? Did you call everyday? Or get an email? interview scheduled? I'm so happy for you but three weeks seems so long. I'm sure you would agree! LOL. I thought I had been seeing completions happening in a week. My bills were all paid and papers delivered on July 18. I was hoping for case to be completed and interview for maybe late August or Sept. Guess I might be waiting longer. Here's hoping we all get completed around the corner!

  4. Hi all

Justa quick question. Most of you placed a date next to the "receieved instruction packet" around or on thesame day as your IV bill. What packet are you referring to? I only received the IV bill, of course I also received the I-184 packetrequest with theAOS bill but that was about a week before the IV bill. Am i missing a packet? I sentborh my AOS packetand IV documents in one envelopesince we were mailing it from the DR.

  5. Thanks everyone. I am very lucky to be here for a month putting her down for naps, teaching her games on the ipad, coloring, taking her to the beach! Can't wait to take her home to her pretty pink room! No expert here, just an obsessive reader and researcher. Also, just one step ahead in many cases so can share more easily. Glad my experience can help others. It's an exciting time for all! Even if the wait is excrutiating!

Papers showed arrived on tracking website. now just have to wait for them to be reviewed and then we are finished at NVC. Next step interview. Have a great day everyone!

  6. Don't forget her original BC and a copy. You will get the AOS bill first. Sometimes you can actually have paid it before you get the bill so keep checking the website. Also, when you get a weird error message on the website, don't worry just keep signing on because usually that means they are updating it; either initiating the bill or marking it paid. Did you send the DS3032? You should get the bill for the IV a day or so after that has been accepted. You should get an email accepting the DS3032 about 7-10 days after you email. It's gonna move fast now! Then of course we wait again while they complete the case and schedule the interview! Hurry up and wait! Lol

Oh and the cover sheets can be printed after you have paid each bill. You will see a place where you can email yourself a copy of the receipt of payment as well as the barcoded cover sheet.

  7. Stephanie,

Thanks for the answer. I totally agree about using her real name but we had no control over that given that her mom took hertothe doctor's appointment and wasn't considering that one day we would be going through this process. Also, no the vaccones were not done through the consulate as they are the normal ones that every infant and newborn get at theor doctor's office. Obviously, done before we planned to do this process. It looks like on the website that if you can prove that certain vaccines were already given theywill not double up and give them again. I hope thats true.

  8. No barcode needed to send DS 3032. Search the Lingche shortcut website. There is a link on that link for the payment site. Try this link https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

But you will need your inn # just go to NVC website and get DS 3032. Print it, fill it out and have your husband sign it as your daughter is a minor, she is under 16 right? They scan and email it from your husbands email. Probably its best to use your address in US, less likely to get lost.

Thanks beejay! I hope the two weeks is right but I know better being that this is my second process but one can dream! Lol she is only 3 so, i am not so worried about her being here to start school as much as I am down here visiting her on my vacation for the month of july and I hate to tell her again, you can't come home with us yet. Also, i am on vacation now but come Aug 6, I am back at work and would mean time off from work to come back for interview and visa! But of course, I will. I want her here with us!! Wishing you all godspeed

  9. I got my case # and INN # on June 27th a thursday and emailed the DS 3032 on Juky 2 the following Monday. i didnt get the DS request with the AOS bill until July 9th and on Juky 10 or 11 I got an email accepting the DS3032 that I emailed on July 2. Now, If I had waited to get the request, I would have been about two weeks behind where I am now. I have paid both bills and mailed both packets as of today. So, 20 calendar days (12 business days)from NVC # to completed and mailed packets. now NVC must receive it (wednesday) and register it and then schedule the interview. I have heard that DR is scheduling in as few as 2 weeks. I am trying not to get excited. my thoughts to you is read the Lingche short cut on this site. It was so helpful in doing things quickly. Biggest thung is to call and make sure you ask for the case # that starts with first three letters of embassy and the invoice ID #. then you can stalk the payment site! Lol

  10. 4 weeks might be pushing it. But I will pray for you! i got my number on june 27th, got my AOS bill on july 9th. paid that day, marked paid the next day. Got my IV bill on July 13th paid that day, still marked in progress. Will send in all AOS and IV paperwork today. Did you send your DS 3032 in yet? You don't need to wait for them to request it. That will speed things up! Do you know how long its taking ince case is complete to get an interview scheduled in Jamaica? Some are saying as little as 2 weeks in the DR. I can only hope but not banking on it. Good luck. We are getting closer!

  11. 2-4 weeks. oMG. We are here visiting until the 31st. Ready to UPS the packet this morning although IV still says in progress. I paid it last Friday. Do you think it's a problem that it still says in progress? I fgured by the time NVCreceives the packet it will say paid.

One question, my step daughter's birth certificate is in one name and hershots are all in her "nickname." i listed her nickname under alias on DS230. Do you think thats ok? I remember when we went to the interview having to memorize my husband's givennames because no one calls them by those names. It cracked me up because the nickname wasn't anything like their given nameson their birth certificate.

I mean to say husband's parents given names not his. Lol

  12. Hi all,

Just about complete at NVC, I think. Will send packet with AOs and supporting documents and DS230 and supporting documents tomorrow. Have paid all fees. now I am just wondering if anyone has had recent experience with how long after completed at NVC it takes to get interview in DOminican Republic? I saw the timeline in that portal that says 2-4 months but that hasn't been updated since Nov of last year. So wondering if thats still correct?
