Jamaicagyaladt! Congrats on completed status. So happy for you. Called NVC and they haven 't "receieved" my new BC even though post office shows signature last Friday. Of course the lady said give them 20 days! Arg!
-
Congrats! Now search for lingche short cuts! It helped me get through NVC pretty quickly! Good luck.
-
please can someone help urgently,, my husband has just had the i-130 approved for his stepdaughter Congrats! ,
we are now waiting for the NVC to get in touch ( how long? ) don't wait for them to be in touch. Never wait! LOL Call them about a week after you got the NOA 2, notice of approval from USCIS if thedon't have you in thesystem yet, meaning you don't get your NVC number with the first three letters of them embassy you will interview at AND you invoice ID# referredto as the INN# by some hereonthe VJ. Those two numbers are essential. Also search for Lingche short cut on this site. It will help you get throughthis stage faster. call them every other day after that first call if they don't give you those numbers. Theywill tell you thatitwill take20 days, etc... But often it doesn't and you will have wasted precious time waiting until you getthe email notice with the numbers.
and my husband will be named as choice of agent, does that mean he will file all the forms ds3032 etc, or does my daughter still have any to fill in? Here is where I'd aska round a little more. Either Daughter has to fill out DS3230 to designate her father as the agent or you as her mom can fill it out. It gets emailed in from the email of whoever fills it out but since she isof age, I would lean toward herneeding to fill it out and designation her step-father as the agent. Other option, if you want to be in the loop, she could designate you as the agent and then all email correspondence would besentto you and your husband. But either way, your husband can not designate himself they agent. My step daughter is three so herfather, my hubbue, filled it out designating himself the agent as sheis underage and sent from his email. So now we both get emails..
f so can it be done by email to NVC if husband does daughter have to send us all her documents? originals or copys? Some stuff is done by email like the DS 3032 and payments for AOS and IV through payment portal but the AOS packet thatis all on your husband to fill out and sent. iV packet is all about your daughter. She has to fill out and sign, get her birth certificate, photos ,police certificate, etc... So, who sends ithat packet is up to you but since there are originals in that packet she would have to mail them to you or directly to the NvC.
When would be the earliest time a medical appointment can be made, do we get told when to do this? can the medical and interview be done on same day being that my daughter will have to travel 300 miles on her own ( although she is 21, would love to save her some hassle if can be avoided ) how long does this whole process take from here, sorry for all the questions but want to start getting things prepared ready for the paperwork arriving i can't answer these questions as they seem to be embassy specific in terms of when you can get the medical and how long an interview takes to be scheduled, etc...
Good luck! Hope I've helped!

Sravan may be right. If you didn't print cover sheet and send your IV packet after your IV bill showed paid on the pay,ent portal, then I believe this is them saying we are NOW ready to receive your packet. For anyone going through the NVC check out the Lingche shortcut! You don't have to wait to get the email request your next packet. Mail the packets with the coversheet you can print out from the payment website as soon as its marked paid!

Actually you should call the NVC tomorrow to find out what is specifically missing. We had sent in our IV packet with the DS 230 part 1 & 2, pictures, birth certificate, etc... I got a checklist emil for the birthcertificate about a week later. There are two kinds of official ones and we sent the wrong one. Then another week went by while I was preparing the translation of the new birth certifiate and i got the same notification that you got, saying imigrant visa part 1. I thought oh god, something else? Were they taking about the DS 230 part 1? I knew I had included that. So, long story short, I called and they told me that they were referring to the birth certificate and to just sent that with the other documents that go with it, the photo copy and the translation. The email saying imigrant visa part 1 was referring to original email requesting the right kind of birth certificate. Did you get another checklist email requesting something else? I would call them tomorrow to clarify what they need. Good luck. Getting closer.

Just arrived home! Will pick up the translation in the morning and send off the needed docs to get this completed. Hopefully, complete by next week. Another person from DR who completed July 19 got interview for Sept 10. Looks like we might be about 3 weeks behind them so late Sept or early October?
-
Yeah! Almost there! I would think they aren't going to be too hard on her. Just ask a few questions about their relationship maybe. Also, it's my understanfing that you and your husband can go in, you as the petitioner and dad because she is a minor. I would imagine the interview will be pretty smooth. What a relief nothing else was needed!

We are almost done at NVC and I entered that number but nothing.

Whats a ds160 number? I am following the example on the site which indicates the NVC number. Your embassy three letters and 10 numbers. Also, did put immigrant but still no data found. Oh well.

Ok. Good news you filed! And lucky you to have that flexibility to be anywhere and work. Are you self employeed or have an employeer? If you have an employeer, they could write a letter verifying your income in future but you might still need a joint sponser or assets. I will let others chime in on this. But I agree that I have seen others on this site been denied or told theyneed joint or assets because their taxes didn't show enough income. Good luck. Hope it works out.
Maybe including a copy of the 1040?

The requirment is that you must make 125% above the poverty line from a job in the US. They want to know that fter your spouse/fiance comes to the US that you can support them and that they will not apply for assistance. Even if you had made 30,000 and paid taxes on 30,000 which above the requirement, due to the fact that this income will not continue after you move to the US with your spouse/fiance makes it thereal problem. Also, would be a problem if you didn't file taxes. My understanding is that you must still file taxes while living aboard even if you don't owe taxes. Good luck. It looks likeyou will have to go with a joint sponser or assets. Keep in mind assets are judged at a 3:1 ratio. Meaning if you have 45,000 in assets or savings then it only countsas 15,000 toward the requirement. Which would bebelow the poverty line for a household of 2. Hope that helps.

Oh i don't know what to tell you for that one. We only had a police report for my husbnd when he went through his process and I don't even remember seeing it! LOL it's probably specific to Jamaica too. Best to ask in the carribean forum and see if someone from Jamaica has experience with it. We got the BC today. Looks almost exactlythe same as the first one. Grrr. Trying to scan it to send out fortranslation now. Have a great day.

From reading around this site and hearing of other cases in DR, an open appointment means just that. You just go to the embassy with the letter stating you have an open appointment and they interview you on that date. Of course, i am no expert. Did you get the letter they sent yet? Good luck. Hope the medical issues ar not too serious and you will both be happily and heathily together in no time!

Depends on the visa type but we got out our NOA2 on May 30 and would have been completed at NVC July 25th had we not run into a glitch. So, witheverything working like clock work it was almosttwo months. It took almost a full month to even ge t from USCIS to the NVC and get a new case number. However, it's hard to predict being that differenttimesof year and different cases affect the length. Keep your patience is all I can advise! AND if you are getting a IR1 or CR 1 or 2, check out theshort cut link. It's called lingche shortcuts.
Goodluck.

Jamaicagyaldat
Yeah! So happy for you. It seems you have about a weeks wait until it's completed fromothers posts and then fron the only Jamaica profile that wasn't K1 and was somewhat current, it looks like6 weeks to an interview! Almost there!!
-
Oh I wish I could tell you I had a completed case and was in line for an interview. I got the dreaded checklist. Apparently there are two legal kinds of BC in the DR. We thought we had the right one. Sent it to USCIS approved no problem. Submitted to NVC with all the other papers. Should have been case closed 3 days ago, but no! We have the wrong kind of BC. So, luckily, we find this out while we are still here. Went to county office, ordered the right one. Sent it by courrier to capital for certification. Will get it back Saturday. Will scan it and email to my friend in the states who is a bilingual lawyer and she will translate it. So, when we arrive Wednesday morning next week, I can over night it to NVC with copy and translation. Of course then we wait for it to be reviewed. I imagine this will set us back at least two weeks. Ugh!!! Just trying to take it all with a grain of salt. I am dreading the wait for the interview. It appears its another 2-2.5 months for the actual interview. What scares me most is that they could wait until the interview to ask for DNA. The request doesn't concern me at all becuase I know it will be positive but it could set us back again. Possibly 3 months. Any luck on signing on to payment site to see IV? I saw the payment available before I got the email saying our DS3032 was accepted. Did you check?
-
5 months processing is their goal and an average which means some more or less than 5 months. As hard as it is you are within normal timelines and it's not time to panic yet. :-)

VSC and CSC take turns. In January, it was breaking my heart to see others from VSC approved in 6 weeks and we kept waiting and waiting. It's very hard to wait but wait we must. Be patient. Go see your loved one if you can. Good luck.
-
I emailed mine on July 2nd and got response on the 11th so you should get it any day. I know every day feels like its been 10 days but it'll be here soon, i'm sure!

Because we got the copy at the office in gaspar hernandez it doesn't have the official stamp I guess. so, we had to send it to santo domingo to have it certified. It's weird because my husband said he had to have the inextensia when he got her passport but the one he gave me was the acta. Oh well, like I said, it will delay us about two weeks but what is done is done.
-
Thanks everyone! We are off to Gasper Hernandez today to get it. I am so glad I called them. I was actually trying to be patient and just enjoy the rest of our trip but something told me to call. At least we have a few days to get it as i know it has to be sent to SD. Ugh! But it'll be fine. What's another week delay! :-) Thanks to all that chimed in. It was so nice to know I could get answers quickly.

Ok. Just called NVC. Told I have a checklist. Dreaded words. He said they needed my daughter's birth certificate. We sent the orinigal certified copy with all the AOS and other IV papers. It was the extracto de acta de nacimiento. Is that not the one to send? It's the only original we had. It was on the official paper with the official civil stamp! Help! I don't know if they just misplaced it or if we send the wrong kind of birth certificate?! Any info is gratly appreciated.

Of course every embassy is different with their timeframe. Good luck to all!

You can send your change of agent form anytime after you have your INN and NVC numbers. Don't wait if its ready. The packets PSDavid is refering to is the AOS packet and the IV packet., I think. You will pay the AOS first then you can send that packet. Then you will pay the IV bill and then you can send the IV packet. You don't have to wait for them to request the packets but for the AOS and IV packets you need the coversheet with bar ode and you can download that off the same payment portal where you make your payment once its marked paid. But the change agent form DS3032 can be sent NOW! Don't wait. That will slow down the payment requests if you wait. Good luck. Did you find the ling che shortcut page? That will help you a lot if you follow it.
