  1. Honestly I think it is just what they feel like doing. Her dad is on her birth certificate and we have more than enough paperwork, pictures since she is 3, she is 16 now etc. Multiple trips with both of us and pictures to support those trips etc. First they are requesting school or medical records. If we can not provide those then they want DNA. However, DNA can not be ordered unless they change the paperwork to indicate DNA. The DNA lab said in Minneapolis that they could do it, but sometimes the embassy in Jamaica wont accept it if it has not been ordered, therefore its best to wait until they say to do it, otherwise you could incur paying the money twice.

    NICE GOOD LUCK!

Sweetie! I am so sorry you are still dealing with this instead of enjoying your daughter's company! Just wrong! I hope you get some resolution soon! I just put our angel to bed! We are having a blast. I am having so much fun being her mommy fulltime. We are having lots of firsts! I think I am doing pretty good with her hair! i have 5 hair styles. i'm learning all about detangling, braiding, conditioning, etc... Getting lunches ready and being on time to preschool and work has been going well. I know your daughter is older but I hope you get to have all the joy I am having very soon! I am so grateful for all the support from this group! Couldn't have made it without you all. Hugs to you all!

  2. Nothing has happened. We did not get to go due to hurricane. They closed the embassy and our appointment was canceled. I facebooked the embassy and they replied back with they will be emailing and calling with a new appointment time. As of yet, 10.31.12, we have not heard from them with a new time. We were stressed as we had to send my husband back home from Florida where he got stuck en route. Another plane ticket. BUT you know what it is what it is. As long as my daughter is safe in Jamaica from the hurricane and everyone is acounted for we can deal with the rest. So now I am just waiting...

Just wanna say, I'm thinking about you! Hope things move soon for you!

  3. My interview was on October 22 and DOS told me that my fiancé visa was printed on November 1 and we still don't have it in hand neither does Domex. I been calling Domex and they keep telling me that they don't have it. Now how much longer do I have to wait??? It's really getting frustrating... I can't buy a ticket, don't know if I can spend holidays with my fiancé and everyday my kids ask me when is he coming home. Gggrrrr!!!

Gosh i'm sorry to hear that! I don't know what to tell you. Our interview was the 24th and we had the visa three days later. She's been herea week and loving it. Doesn't make sense that you are still waiting. Wish I had some advice. Hope he can come home soon!

  4. october first they asked my 14 year old daughter hellllllaaaaa questions about me and my husbend, where he worked, the name, the town and part of us we liveed in, when she saw us last, how much we call, how old i am hellla, then my 10 year old son they asked nothing???? so whatever

So sorry they put them through all that! Too bad you couldn't be there with them. I was worried about the DNA too but they just asked, is she your biologicall child and then a few questions about the late birth registration. Hope this gets resolved for you very soon. We fly out tomorrow!! Wish us luck on two flights with a three year old! I'm especially worried about the Miami to Sfo one since its 6 hrs. Hopefully the ipad power will last that long or she will sleep.

  5. So, we got the visa, we are prepared to leave Sat and I'm thinking of all the things we need to do when we get home, like getting her medical coverage. They told us we need to do this within 30 daysto add her to my husband's insurance but we need a SS # . We checked the box on the 230 but they said if you don't get it in 3 wks to go to a SS office but when you go to the SS website it says only children with permission to work can get one. None of that makes sense. Help!

So sorry to hear this! But you are right, as long as everyone is safe, it's just a matter of time.

Thanks so much for all the good thoughts and congrats for us! We are only three days away from bringing her home! Wishing this to be the same for you all too, very soon! Thanks for all the support and advice along the way everyone!

  7. Leave it to a man not to be willing to ask appropriate officials and rely on random friends to tell them what they need! Arrgggg. Thanks for letting me vent for a moment. I guess us women do it occasionally too! So, we were approved for my step-daughter's visa and now we need the letter for permission to leave. What do we need? Do we need the letter written by the mom? Does she need to go to get it notorized and/or go to get it registered at the migration office in Santo Domingo? How much does it cost? How much for one day service? Also, been trying to call Domex to inquire about passport and no answer. We also heard we need to take a BC with the notorized letter. Is that true? Does it have to be an original with a stamp? Help!! We are trying to leave friday and the prices keep going up and up!

  8. So happy for you and your family. I have been thinking of you all day and wondering how things were going. So glad to hear everything went well. CONGRATS!!

Thanks sancruz! I can't believe how nice they were! We got some bad info about not needing to pick up her medical and bringing it to the interview. When my hubbie took her to get the TB read they said they would send it over. So when we got to the interview and they asked about it, they said that we were approved but they had to wait for the medical and it could take up to 6 weeks. But then the lady said, its still early, why don't you run over to the medical place and see if he could get it. So, we waited at the embassy and my hubbie went and got it. They let him back in. We went back to the window and the lady gave us the green approval ticket and marked the visa urgent for production! She was so kind! That and the drama of me having my earphones and charger for phone in my purse (no phone or other electronics mind you), so, the over zealous security peeps sent me outside and,ade me get back in line. So, by the time I got in, my husband said they had already called our name. When they called again they asked why we were late. So, my husband explained what they did at security. But from that point on they were very sweet. Talking to my daughter and asking just a few questions. All of that and we were still finished pretty quick and with great success. She loves dragging her suitcase around. So excited to go with us! Thanks to all who answered questions and cheered us along the process. May you all get the outcome you wish for. I can't wait to bring our little gilr home and introduce her to so many things!

  9. Are you going with all the originals and copies you made? Im not sure what I should send. But I think that is all I can imagine.

Yes a copy of the packet we sent andsome more pictures showing us with her since she was a baby. I don't have another copy of her birth certificate. should probably get another one while we are down there. although I think they are supposed to give the original back at interview. My husband just sent me a message that when he took her to the medical yesterday they gave her all her shots even though she has records. Poor baby. She is so little and just got those shots a year or so ago! I can't stand that they did that to her.

    When does your husband leave?

  10. Hi everyone. Well not long to go now. We are all getting excited. We got a call from the embassy to bring a copy of my husbands green card for the record at the embassy. Hope the interview goes well and she can come to the US within a week or so.

Hope all goes well for you and your family!! My husband leaves on Sat to go help with the medical and all for our little one. I'll be heading down next week in time for interview! Again Good Luck! I'll be sending good vibes your way.

  11. Thank you. I appreciate that. I am calling NVC now, I hope they will give me some information. FOR the pity sakes. At least you use to be able to badger the Embassy and get information. Now nothing. So frustrating.

So sorry about your mom! My thoughts are with you. Also sorry no word on the interview. Us neither but things are pretty crazy here right now so maybe its better there is a little delay. Wishing the best for everyone.

  12. Hi my name is Lorraine my hubby file a i130 for my 3 kids want to know how long it take be approve they r in Jamaica

Hi lorraine! It took us 4 months to be approved at USCIS. One month between USCIS and NVC #. another month processing at NVC and now a month since case closed and still no interview. Every case is a little different. depends on where you filled initial case and how backed up they are. Also, don't know if it always takes a month for it to arrive at NVC after NOA 2. We heard at the time ours was approved that they had sent some files to storage on accident instead of directly to NVC but who knows if that was true. And I have seen some people complete their case at NVc and the next week get their interview scheduled. Wish I could tell you if our case was typical or not. We didnt get and RFE and its still been 7 months. Hope that helps. Good luck.
