I visited my fiance as well and didn't have any problems. She might want to take binding ties with her in case the Immigration Officer wants to see them but most of the time they don't even ask for any ties.
-
I think it also depends a lot on the country u are from.
Me, I never had any problems visiting my fiance. They never asked for any ties...
If u are from a third world country ur chances are low that they're gonna let u in... Of course it's not impossible but I wouldn't take the risk :/
Nymphadroa, u should be fine. Don't worry too much like I did
It's just gonna give u grey hair lol

Hi everyone! I am new here. But I keep reading the forum already.. I just would like to seek for advices. My husband is a US Citizen and I am from Philippines. We sent our papers May 22. I've read that it takes 2-3weeks before receiving the first NOA. Do u have any idea when will my visa get approved? And the possible time i get to US? Since my husband is planning of fetching me here in PI. For him to book a flight.. Like any idea when? i miss my husband husband so much and we're newly wed. Please help me. Thank you!
It usually takes about 6-9 months to get your visa.

Funny ... My fiance called earlier and the woman said that Vermont is moving fast with petitions...
-
Maybe I shouldn't be the one complaining but I'm oh so tired of all this ... :/

I received a RFE on the 10th. Hope to hear from them next week. It's been 4 days since they received the documents. Fingers crossed.

Hi.....Well..I got my police clearance recently from Venezuela, so lets see if I can help you with the procedure.. You have to request the document at this adress:
Caracas, Plaza La Candelaria, Edificio Paris....This place is very near to The Metro Station Parque Carabobo (like 2 blocks)
You have to go from monday to friday 8 - 11 am. I suggest that you go earlier cause lines sometimes are long and they give 150 numbers per day to people requesting that document.
They will give you there a form to fill where you have to write your name and the reason for the request (VISA) , and for what Institute (Estados Unidos de America in Venezuela...this is what I wrote cause my interview was in USA Embassy-Caracas). Also you have to take with you copy of your ID. You can go or sent someone with a simple authorization (doesnt have to be notarized)
It takes like 3 days to be done and then you have to look for it at another building (Ministerio Interior y Justicia (Internal Justice Minister)located in Avenida Urdaneta a few blocks from the Building Paris where you request it. You have to look for it from 1 - 3 pm. Big lines too....
Is a FREE service. so yu dont have to pay anything.
This document is valid for 3 month from the date is printed.
Some people after that procedure take it to the Ministerio Relaciones Exteriores to legalize. I did it just in case. But the USA Venezuela embassy in the web says that the police clearance must be from the Ministerio Interior y Justicia (just the first one).
Hope it helps...If you had any question I´ll be glad to help you... .Good Luck
Thank u soooo soooo much for ur answer but unfortunately I'm currently in Germany ... I went to their website and u can only contact them via email, I didn't find a phone number ...
Bet they do that on purpose

I found that: "Venezuelan police certificates may be obtained from the Ministry of Interior and Justice. (http://www.mpprij.gob.ve)" on the Venezuela Consulate VJ page (http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Venezuela&cty=Caracas), but members from this country should be able to confirm.
Thanks a lot. I found this website earlier but wasn't 100% sure if it is the right one...
-
I'm a lil confused about the police clearance and how to obtain it. I lived in Venezuela for a total of 10 months. I have honestly no clue where to get one so I looked it up on the Internet and found 2 very confusing answers.
Number 1 said to contact el departamento administrativo de seguridad.
Number 2 said "Do not attempt to obtain police certificates covering residence in any of the following countries, as they are not available: Venezuela, Ghana, etc"
Maybe someone could help me out?

I would've called already... I mean it's been 6 months...
I apologize. I thought u had filed for a K1. But I would still call
-
If u have a good reason and enough proof u could call them and request an expedite immediately.
-
Those aren't January petitions, they're any petition approved in January.
Not necessarily. It doesn't meant they've approved 2,010 February petitions, it means they approved 2,010 petitions in February.
For example. If you filed your petition in October, and it was approved in February, it would be one of those 2,010.
Thank u. Now that makes sense :]
-
No, it's a statistic to show how many petitions were received, processed and pending each month. However, it can give fairly accurate forecasts. For example, if the service center received 20,000 petitions once month, but only completes 10,000, it indicateds a backlog building up. If they receive less than they complete, it indicates processing times may get shorter.
But if u put in I-129F, Vermont Service Center and Volume Chart it shows that 2, 129 petitions were received in FEBRUARY and 2,010 completed. So I guess they are almost through Feb? I'm sorry if I still don't get it

Does it mean they are actually processing Jan and Feb 2012 K1 Files?
I was wondering the same ... Or is it just a forecast?

Okay great. So I got my appointment at 8 am now. I thought they only open at 7! I am so afraid now that I will miss it. I am thinking about calling them and asking when I should be there at the latest. I am super afraid now that I will mess things up
Well, u shouldn't be there too early either. I was there 1 1/2 hrs before my interview and at first they didn't want to let me in :/
Edit: Interview was for J1 btw.
-
hey - some movement! that's always a plus.
Exactly :] I see some progess. No more standstill ...
-
It is most likely an error.

Well, today's court date went well. One more in July and were done

Hello all,
My fiance has an inteview in Moscow on Friday April 27,2012 at 0800. Which is less then 8 hrs by Moscow time, Which is AWESOME news.
Something is bothering me really bad i need an answer ASAP if anyone out there can help, please respond.
I was browsing on http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3743.html and i was reading "Important Visa Interview Notices". As i was reading
these two following statements got my attention:
1.•If you, your spouse and/or children who were previously issued J1 visas, and were admitted to the U.S. under INA 101(a)(15)(J), and studied, worked, lived, or are now in the United States as exchange visitors, you and/or they may need to satisfy a two-year foreign residence and physical presence requirement
2.•An immigrant visa may not be issued to an applicant found to be ineligible under section 212(e). The consular officer will advise those affected by this requirement about how to become eligible.
The reason why i'm so concerned is because my fiance was a J1 holder last year so now its making me think whether this applies to her or not.
I may be misunderstanding what im reading, or maybe i am looking into to it way too much. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE MAKE THIS CLEAR FOR ME??
Thank you for all of your help in advance.
She should check her J1 visa in her passport. It says whether the "2 year rule" applies or not.

base on the USCIS(web) Processing Time Information for Vermont Service Center is June 14, 2011...means they still working for that month. CSC is still 5months process..oh well i just hope it won't change until they process mine lol
Not really. They are almost processing January petitions. June 14 probably means that the last petition they processed was dated June 14.
-
hooray for CSC the ONLY service center who actually not behind (yet..lol)
hopefully it won't change in a days/weeks/months lol
Well, as far as I know VCS isn't behind either

If everything goes as planned, I'll be living in Ft. Lee, VA in a couple months. Maybe someone lives close to us. Looking forward to meeting new ppl

Yup my attorney office said December approvals have been trickling in from VSC
when I contacted them. They are still confident in saying mid May to early June as potential time frame for approval.
We're all so close now. Almost there.
Time seems to fly by (at least when u look back). I can't believe I have been waiting for almost 3 months now. I pray that it will be all over very very soon

I will be marrying into a comparable situation, though luckily not as bad. About six months ago, my fiancee and her attorney managed to negotiate to move to supervised visitation with her ex-husband. The children now visit their father once a week for four hours, with a representative from a local non-profit (I think), who keeps an eye on things. He has been better recently, and by preventing the frequent shouting arguments that he used to start when the children were picked up before, it has helped improve the relationship between my fiancee and the ex. It sounds like this won't happen in your situation though.
This is the advice I can think of now:
- Record everything
- Build a good relationship with child protection services
- Get a good family attorney
- Consider only communicating through your and her attorneys
- Aim for supervised visitation. It will depend on your state's laws, but if she has been abusive to the children it should be possible to get it.
- Aim to have the court control where the children will visit her
- Supervision costs money, at least in our experience. Discuss who will pay with your attorney.
- If you can negotiate an agreement through your attorneys, it may be easier. It sounds very unlikely in your case, but then my fiancee was surprised when the ex agreed.
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate ur advice and will talk to my fiance about it.
By the way, she doesn't even have an attorney as she doesn't have the money to get one ...
