  1. I submitted my forms back in October 2015 and haven't heard a peep since my biometrics appt.

When looking at their "processing times" they're still working on August 2015. I've seen a few from Sept/Oct complete, but because my date is coming up quickly, I'm getting nervous.

What happens if Oct 14 comes and goes and my extension letter expires? I do plan on calling them, but they are closed right now.... I'm just beginning to freak out a little bit

Is it automatically extended? And trying to find anything on this is ridiculous.... every time I put expiring temp green card or something regarding 1751 it never shows what I need...... just how to renew an expiring green card.

Any words of encouraging advice is welcome at this point.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I didn't read all the replies, but when I was coming here I called Rogers (I know it's not Bell... but) I needed to cancel my cell contract. Because I was moving away to get married, they grant a no charge for canceling, because it's kind of out of your hands.

There service isn't where you're moving to, so they let it slide. Only thing that needed to be done is you had to prove that you were moving and getting married. ie Send a copy of marriage license or something that shows you that you've moved out of their service area.

If I were you I'd call them back and speak to their supervisors supervisor and see if something can be done like that.... you may also have gotten someone who really doesn't care... I've worked at a call center and there are plenty of people who don't care about the consumer and just want them off the phone.

  3. Does this apply to K1 people too? We were gonna look at enrolling after we're married in February, but I'm not sure if I am eligible if I don't have the GC yet and have only just moved here - especially as SC seems to be leading the fore in trying to gut Obamacare.

TBH I am not 100% sure of that. I'm off until Wednesday, but will look if I can. There is a question in the application that asks if you are a US Citizen and when you say no, it does a drop down menu of options... I know Green Card is on it, but I'm not sure of the other options as I haven't really paid attn. to them.

  4. Does the website work better now than November? I gave up in frustration after many hours/days of fighting it. I got registerd just fine, but could never get the list of insurers and plans to see what was available. Then it added my husband a second time and other mistakes but there was no way to delete husband v.2 or edit the erroneous data that appeared. I called the help desk several times but they couldn't really help. Do you think it would be better to start over under a new email address since I was told there was no way to delete the incorrect file and start fresh to get rid of the second version of my husband? We only need one person insured, not Husband1 and Husband2. I have insurance.

It works a million times better. Still has some bugs, but over all a vast improvement.

  5. Yes you have to get insurance. You are considered a permanent resident. If you are a green card holder, you will be asked for you Alien number to prove so.

Since you're in NY (from what your profile states) you should go to https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov/ as NY has it's own Exchange/Marketplace

Qualifying for Medicaid depends on your income. Fill out an application and it will notify you instantly if you are eligible for Medicaid and if you are your info will be automatically sent to you local Medicaid office.

    *Edit*

I work for the Health insurance Marketplace, as far as I know you do NOT have to wait 5 years for Medicaid or "Obamacare" the above poster is incorrect in that information. It is Medicare that has that stipulation.

  6. I posted this information on another section here and was advised that I should create another topic in this forum as well... and maybe get it pinned.

A lot of people that are moving here may have questions regarding their Health Care and what options they have.

I work for the Marketplace and thought I'd share some important links for you all to look through.

This is NOT for a political conversation, it is for people who are legitimately interested in what to do about health care.

  7. Congrats!!!

I just filed last week, hope mine is as fast as yours - in total how long was the wait?

Thanks. I filed for AoS at the end of May and got an RFE for things I already sent them (in June/July - can't remember) and then got the notice a couple weeks ago that I was approved and that the card was in production.

I got an email that it was shipped out on Thursday. So I should have it this week hopefully.

For more accurate times, my timeline is updated with all of it...

I got mine approved in October and now have my greencard. I did send in an expedite request but from what I've been seeing a lot of people are getting approvals quickly, lately. Great news for everyone! I also, did not have an interview.

YAY... mine should be here soon... this week i'm hoping. Here's to not having interviews lol

  8. WOW! Great links and resources covering ACA info... You should totally pin this info in its own topic (and send out a mass email to like.... The ENTIRE COUNTRY! Lol)...

LOL Thanks.... I wish I could, too bad half the country wouldn't listen :(

Not quite sure what forum I would pin it... so many forums to choose from.

  9. I work at for the Marketplace.... here are a few important things for all to know... Instead of typing it all out, I'll just post some links.

  10. My Green Card is in production. I got my notice today that it was approved after about 4 months after the interview waiver letter.

Can't complain, it'll be a nice early Christmas present :)

    Can't wait YAY

  11. Can't always go by dates though.... I applied for AoS in May and got my waiver in July and still haven't heard anything about anything.... Still says under review.

It's the gov't, they do what they want ;)

  12. Hello all, I just go a letter from USCIS today saying

"US Citizenship and Immigration Services has identified your application as a potential interview waiver case. This means that we may not need to interview you to complete your application. "

    YAY

    Is this common?

Oh and anyone going through the AoS step, the letter also stated that they are really behind right now saying that they're working on apps submitted 6 months ago... so just a heads up

  13. when we submitted our original package, I read that some people get a letter notarized, so I wrote a letter saying that I was in Kentucky visiting him etc... and we went to his bank... We both signed it and she notarized both signatures...

that is another option smile.png Good luck

ps I used to live in Windsor for about 7 yrs :)

  14. I had been planning to visit Canada so when I saw EAD approved and initial review on AP I stressed about it endlessly hoping they hadn't forgotten. It came to me as a combo card - EAD on the top and at the bottom it said 'also serves as Advance Parole I512' which we used for our planned travel to visit family.

In fact, to this day it still says initial review. Kind of weird if you ask me but know that you're not alone!

As far as working while waiting I don't know about that one... someone else would be better to answer it. It shouldn't take too long to arrive though.

thats good :) I don't really plan on working now anyway... was just curious.... though I will be anxiously waiting for the card to arrive since we've planning a trip to Canada on August 10..... nothing like cutting it close hehe

  15. I just received an email saying that they ordered production on my ead card..... I'm just curious if that means that my Advance Parole is 100% attached to that, because it still says initial review.....

thought I read that they are attached to one another now?

    fingers crossed that it is.

  16. We had to send all that stuff in too and I guess we overwhelmed them (or they just approved us after our congressman stepped in). Very annoying!

thanks for the support all... I guess it's my own fault... it's the only time I didn't make copies of anything.... serves me right :-/

So we are in the process of waiting for the transcripts (again)... redoing all the paystubs and banking info and letter from employer etc...

    Fingers crossed.

OH ... the letter also said that they were putting a hold on working on my ead while they wait for me to resubmit.... is that normal? They didn't say anything about the advance parole, but I'm hoping that isn't included, because we're planning on going to Canada for vacation in August.... and I'm hoping that it comes in the next few weeks...

haha my hubby keeps teasing that he's going to write a complaint about the waste of paper the government uses... and the endless amount of trees we've killed with all this paperwork

  17. No. They just said that I didn't submit anything with the affidavit of support.... So it's like they just threw it all away and said hey lets make their lives hell..... it also says they're postponing my ead because of it >< so not fun.

Also and I don't really know how I would document this to them..... but with the custody agreement with my hubby and his ex, he doesn't have to pay child support... so really it's only a 2 person household..... we pretty much just get the girls xmas, long weekends and summer because she moved 9 hours away with them..... don't know if that matters and like I said I have no idea how to tell them that

  18. It's so annoying. They're basically asking for every single thing we submitted for the affidavit of support.

We submitted his last 3 tax transcripts, a letter from his employer etc... and now they're saying we are below the 125% poverty guideline which is $29k for us (he has 2 kids so that makes 4 person household) and he definitely makes over that....

    So frustrating, annoying and aggravating!!!!

    Anyone go through this?

And am I wrong? I'm looking at the pdf and it says $29,437

I don't know... maybe this is payback for everything else going smoothly..... arrrghhhh

  19. Your medical may have been lost / incomplete. Thats usually the most popular issue with AOS.

hmmm so if that is the case, how does one go about getting it to them? I don't have a copy... am I going to have to have another one?

I have my vaccinations... that's not an issue, I still have that portion.

  20. Hello all, we just got a text saying they were sending us an RFE...

I know when we submitted our forms everything was included.... went over it several times....

I hate to be that person, but does anyone have any idea what they could be wanting?

The only thing I could think of is the Affidavit of support, but we submitted everything they could have wanted with that.

hmmm i know i'll have to wait for for the notice, but just curious to see if anyone has gotten one and what it was for?

  21. I need to get passport photos done for my K-1 visa, just want to confirm that I need to get 7 taken:

2 for packet 3 for Montreal

    3 for medical

    2 for interview

    Correct?

Also- did everyone do them all at the same time? So you had 7 of the same picture?

    Thanks!!

Yep that's what you need for this part, I didn't end up having to give any at the interview so I still had 2 left over so that helped for submitting with the AoS.

    * I see Inky had the same comment :)
