I submitted my N-400 in May and received a notification saying no biometrics. Today i received a 797C for case type N-400 Application for Naturalization with a date and time to visit the local office.   The notice says to appear before the officer regarding the application.

It says I will be tested on my knowledge of government and history of the US.  "You will also be tested in reading, writing, and speaking English."  

It says I must bring the NOA, green card, my passport, marriage certificate and spouses birth certificate. 

It has only been two months since I filed but this NOA seems to indicate that i will have my citizenship interview.  Did other people who received the interview have a notice that said the same?

this is a question posed by my son and daughter in law who are going through the process and I could not answer his question. 

"Submitted the I-751 a few days early by accident and the entire packet (including payment) was returned.  By the time it was returned, I was within the window to submit the I-751.  I resubmitted the same packet and received my NOA --two pages!

it extended the green card 18 months, it stated to send in supporting documentation if I haven't already done so (I did with the packet). there was information about processing times and biometric appointments but on page two there is language about return of documents.  IS that standard to receive a 2 page NOA with a section on return of original documents?  Because my original packet was returned, i am sensitive to anything that talks about that. "

We received our certificate of naturalization today at the oath ceremony. 63 new citizens from 42 different countries. Asked to arrive at 7:45 and made it through security screening by 8:15. at 9:00 the judge started the ceremony and it went until about 9:45 and then a line to get the certificate and have photo with the judge.

one time to verify photo, then stand for oath, stand for pledge of allegiance, stand for national anthem. Judge gives a talk and then it is official.

I am an IOE filer and i am lucky. I hope you all have good luck soon.

Got my interview letter notification without being put in line. I am IOE. Hopefully that means other IOE's who haven't received in-line notifications are actually in line.

Interview was Wednesday and oath letter sent same day (I saw it in the ELIS but haven't physically received it). I can only see the front page and it asks to bring the letter, green card, any travel documents, and any other documents uscis has issued to you. Does that mean all old green cards or just the current? All old 797 notices? Does anyone know what is meant by that last request?

I only have my iPad so i cannot update it but oath ceremony October 14th.

My wife passed the test and received form N-652 which is 'Naturalization Interview Results'. The form said she passed the English test and U.S. history and government test. Another box was checked that said the application is recommended for approval.

We arrived early (about 45 minutes) and were the first of 4 people having interviews at the same time. My wife was the last one called back but the first one finished. The immigration officer read her parts of the application 'is your address, etc' and asked if the information was correct. She said she didn't need to ask too much because the application and file were complete. She saw we paid our taxes and then asked my wife to write a sentence...'Citizens can vote.' She asked six questions:

#7 (how many amendments), #16 (who makes federal laws), #29 (What is the name of the VP now), #38 (what is the highest court), #60 (what group of people was taken to America a slaves), and #61 (Why did the colonists fight the British)?

The interesting comment was that they switched over to the new computer system about two weeks ago and she had to type in the information because the new system required it. She said it was slowing her down. The interview process that normally takes 15-20 minutes took 45. It sounds like they have switched over and are using the new system and so the IOE application should start flowing. However, there may be a learning curve if our IO is similar to others.

She told my wife that a form would come in about a week with the Oath ceremony information. Does anyone know if that is accurate and when I might be able to see that online? I hope some of this was helpful.

Today is the interview. I will try to record which questions were asked and post an update in the next couple days.

The next adventure will be the oath ceremony--we fly out of the country in November and hope it is completed prior to then.

On the application, my wife said 'no' when asked if she wanted to change her name but she has changed her mind. Can she bring that up during the interview or will it cause problems?

She doesn't have a middle name and so left it blank when coming here. Her married name is her first name and my last name. She wants her family name as a middle name.

My wife goes in for her interview this Wednesday morning 9-21. I will ask her to try to remember everything asked and let you all know.

I called the 800 number and did not press any buttons and it connected me through the Spanish speaking line. I spoke to a level one person and requested to be passed to an immigration officer level 2. You may have to tell them your story first and when they cant help (they cant) then ask for level 2. Some are nice about it and some not nice. If they ask to put you in the queue for a call back--do it. They do call you back. I talk to them for my wife, but she needed to be on the phone to give me authority to speak. If you have passed 90 days after your fingerprint date, then you can call and they will try to help you. We spoke to one officer who said to call every Friday but within 1-2 weeks, we had our interview letter. maybe coincidence or not.

I checked the ELIS system 24 hours after the email about the interview and the letter is there. Interview is September 21st. 5 weeks away.

I am on my iPad and cannot update my timeline

The status was updated in the uscis case status saying : interview was scheduled

So I never received an inline for interview notification. Do I leave that blank on the chart?

I am an IOE filer and I just got an email. It says on August 15 we scheduled an interview for your N400. They will mail an interview notice (no notice is in the online system).

The email says my case status: testing and interview

I just checked processing times. The N-400 date from VJ users is March 29th but that date hasnt changed much in the last few weeks so i dont know how accurate it is.

I checked the USCIS processing times for field offices and they are processing at 5 months. This was updated June 30,2016. That means all of us who submitted in May should be processed within 5 months (if that is what your field office says like mine does).

Is there a place to check Fingerprint time?

An L2 officer called us and my wife and I spoke to him. He said it is with the field office waiting to be scheduled for an interview and told me I could call back every Friday for an update.

I called 3 times today. 2 of times the L1 tried not to transfer me and weren't helpful at all but the third one was great. They transferred me but I was put on an automated call return. They called back but my wife wasn't there and they refused to talk to me. The L1 told me that if I go beyond 90 days after biometric, I can call and they will put in a query to the field office. At least that's better than waiting 5 months.

It isn't a blanket statement but more of an observation followed up by asking fellow filers to comment. We have seen the old applicants process more quickly through their field offices using the old application. We know there are variations in time from applicant to applicant but have not seen any information contrary to this. Further, the USCIS initially published mandatory use of the new application in early May, then moved it to August and has now switched it to October. When you factor few if any IOE are moving with the fact that USCIS has set three different dates for use of the new system, it is alarming. That is why questions about the IOE are asked here becasue that is what forums do--ask each other questions. Yes 5 months is the standard but at my field office, NBC applicants have been running 4 months with inline coming in month 3--that hasnt happened with others.

Just an observation

I certainly hope not.

We were eligible to file in February but I took a new job and we moved. This necessitated us waiting three months to file. In January, we made flight arrangements to go to Thailand in November -- it would have given us 9 1/2 months. Because we filed in May it was closer to 6 1/2 before our flight. Our field office still says 5 months which is October.

If this goes beyond October we ha e to either cancel flights or postpone the citizenship process

According to the uscis website, they are only accepting the new application effective May 5th. I don't think anyone can use the old one anymore--it will get rejected.

I also called uscis and they said that my field office is meeting the 5 month target and only if I extend beyond 5 mo Th will they make an effort to investigate or help.
