How the heck are there still people who aren't finished? I really hope they just haven't logged in since they took their oath, or something?

You can't schedule it automatically based on NOA date. There are too many variables that go into how long a case takes. One persons case could take 4 months to get an interview, another person with the same NOA date could take 10 months, for whatever reasons. 

Online is faster because its more efficient and so much of it is automated (not having to physically send files around is a huge time savings). I don't think USCIS is giving special treatment, it just is what it is.

It wasn't a short wait at all, one of the longer ones for online filers from August actually. Your estimated wait time doesn't mean anything.

Because of the efficiency of electronic filing they get through the system way faster. It's just common sense.

Yes, not filing online is making the process take longer. That's not surprising with the amount of overhead that is removed when there's no paper to move around! 

There are status tables in this thread and all of the other case filing reports thread, you can get a good idea of the average time it will take for your office with those. You can also use some of the VisaJourney tools to look at that as well, though they're a bit convoluted and not very user friendly.

If you want to ask for status, infopass is your only option. Like @qaszxc1234 said, you'd probably be wasting your time since 90 is is totally normal. It's for you to decide if it is pointless or not.

That’s always the longest wait. Look at my timeline, I was one of the last August filers to get an interview notice. But then became one of the first to get an oath letter. The gap between biometrics and interview will always be the longest wait.

Correct, there is no "in line" status. The message we use for "in line" for online filers is the "interview was scheduled, we will send you a letter" message, because it can be weeks between that message and the "interview was scheduled, read the letter we mailed you" message.
