  1. My husband's grandmother passed away a week ago and they will funeralize her today in Nigeria. She lived in the village, I wish we could be there for our family at this difficult time, but all we can do is pray for them and offer our condolences. She lived to a long life, she was nearly 100 y/o.

  2. My husband received the affidavit in the mail yesterday without any problems, now I have to plan another trip out of the country. I wonder if this process would have gone differently if my husband was presently in Nigeria. He and I have been wondering the same thing.

  3. It's been 1 yr, 5mos, 3wks and 4days since I have physically seen or touched my husband. I miss him and also feel the need to take another trip out of the country, especially before he returns to the embassy with the needed document.I will be so happy when all this distance becomes a thing of the past!

Its exhausting our pocketbook but I keep going with the theory, if I get the chance-- I'm going. I do not have your patience! I hope the distance is shortened for you soon, one way or another.

We went through a long separation as well, 18 months. It isnt easy, this LDR thing, hold on, soon the visa journey will be over and a new chapter will begin!

Thank you Ladies, we must keep each other encouraged and uplifted because this journey will not, is not, or has not been easy, but one day it will end. @ RFQ, please say it again! I agree with you on that. A roundtrip to Malaysia is around $1800!

  4. My husband is Ibo and speaks Igbo so his dialect is quite different from mine.Imagine him singing "Step In The Name Of Love" by R. Kelly. I can truly say that "true love" surpasses anything! My honey was singing up something. Lol!

I feel you on that. It's one of the things that I keep praying for, the spirit of patience and I have yet to master it too, but I am making progress...I think. Lol!

Lol! Just when I think I have made progress I backslide a bit, haha.

  6. Sunday service was great today and my pastor definitely brought the WORD and it was just what I needed to hear. I am ready for the world and I know Solomon and I are going to be okay. There is nothing too hard for God!

  7. Well vj friends, my husband has to go back to the embassy and present a sworn affidavit of our relationship, proposal, marriage, etc. Even after all the proof, joint accounts, chat logs, phone records, financial records, etc. He said that there were 3 others that received the same request. I am so ready to see him until I am restless.

Better that you get asked for evidence now than a flat out refusal and have to wait another year. So create a timeline of your relationship to make it really easy for them :)

I will definitely give them more proof and anything else they request as long as it's his way home to me.

Drink some hot tea, turn on your favorite music (you like to sing too) and take a hot bath. God is in control and you are not to worry about anything. He is taking care of the situation, you take care of you.

My husband didn't think a rural area would be a good idea either, but guess what, I'm not moving! I love the quiet atmosphere away from the city. He knew that when he married me. Now he likes it.

  18. In the midst of my husband and I transitioning to bigger and better things, meaning, we are awaiting our interview date and I am trying to relocate about two hours away and I have 2 two job prospects lined up with very positive reactions from both AND now I have received a notice in the mail to sworn in as a grand juror! Talk about the interuption of everything, but I refuse to see this as a stumbling block!

  20. My wonderful sister-in-law was able to get my husband's birth certificate today and thanks be to God and for giving her the ability to get this task accomplished. I thought it was going to be difficult since she is so far from Lagos but she did not have to travel far at all! God's timing is everything!!!!!

This journey is hard, and to be separated from your loved one is the most difficult thing, but God has a plan, and His timing is usually not ours. He has the final say...praying you will be reunited soon. May God's favor go before you and prepare the way.

  21. I am getting slightly perturbed because I am ready to be with the man I love. If anyone asks me if the stress of this long process worth all the stress then I will say "yes and yes"...Yes to the stress and yes to the process!!! HE is definitely worth it all and absolutely worth the wait!!!! We have come too far to get tired now!

  22. Why is it that you can't send a package to your spouse in another country without the risk of them never receiving it when it gets there? I sent my husband some things that I had bought for him simply because he adores them and his feelings were so hurt because he never received his items. African men are so appreciative of even the smallest things and don't hesitate to express it. Lol...we are just perfect for each other!

So true...we were just talking about that @ 3:00 a.m. this morning...lol! but I usually I have sent him a total of 6 packages and 5 of them made it through with luck but the last one failed to arrive at his door and it's made us both hesitant. So I guess fedex is my other alternative.

    3. Iyawo_Omo_Yoruba

      Iyawo_Omo_Yoruba

Yes, I have heard the stories of others not using Fedex, and I won't even go there, lol. Now if you sign up for an account with Fedex, and print the label at home you will get a discount, so that can save you some money! :)

      suganspyce42

Thank u and I will surely try FedEx the next time around

  23. My husband is truly my bestfriend!!! We can talked about everything and anything and it doesn't matter how many hours we talk as soon as we hang up, I miss him all over again. We pray each day that this process will soon be something to talk about in past tense. All the lost sleep from the late night and early morning conversations are so worth it!
