PJ1925 got a reaction from NewToThisToo in Adjustment of status of parents
    Hello everyone,
I have been using the site for a while now, and I am thankful for all the help I have received here! I am now 2 days away from doing my oath taking for my citizenship and I am excited to finally start helping my parents.
I would like to petition them. Can I petition them at the same time? They are both here in the US. Both overstayed their visas. My dad and mom asked for visas together, and we approved. My mother came to the US 20 years ago, and stayed. My dad came 8 years ago and stayed. My dad has all of his papers, i94, original passport, etc. My mother in contrast, has nothing. Not even her original passport. How much of a problem will this be? They are still married.
    I have many questions:
    1. Will there be a problem with my mother and the loss of documents in order to petition her?
    2. Can I petition them at the same time?
    3. What do I need to file, and what supporting documents do we need?
    4. Do you think we will need a lawyer for my mother since she has lost her documents?
Looking forward to any answers I can get! Thank you!

Your next steps will to pay it - can try to agree with IRS on a payment plan. Also if you don't believe that your return was calculated correctly, you can re-do it yourself or go to different accountant.

Are you listed as a beneficiary of your husband anywhere (for example, a will)? Do you share any insurance (health, car, etc)? Maybe utilities, such as cell phone?
Also if you're landlord could write something up that says you've been living at that address, it would be helpful.
Your husband would not have an A-number, since he's a citizen.

You are wrong. Please don't guess. Two people were here ahead of you asking the question that needs to be answered before ANYBODY can correctly answer the OP's question. I suggest you read and learn from this thread instead of posting misinformation.
If he's in the USA and never left, he can simply adjust status and the overstay will be forgiven. If he left the USA he's subject to a ten year ban on entry beginning the day he left. There is no fine.

before I prepared for this interview, I didn't even remember what I bought for my wife for our anniversary, or what is the color of our curtain in the kitchen, my wife reminded me it's green, I was like, "what? do we have curtains in the kitchen?", but we are really really genuine married couple. it's a little bit annoying and frustrating to prepare all those details, knowing that got one thing wrong might cost us hugely. so much is at stake...How could american people let government bureaucrats decide what they think your marriage is in good faith?

No income and no co-sponsor/joint sponsor means no approval.
He either has to find a job and fast or ask someone to help out and co-sponsor.
