Certainly don't expect to see anything before Thursday, especially as yesterday was Labor Day and USPS didn't work.

Just received my mail 5 minutes ago and I got a letter from USCIS for Biometrics!!!!! My guess is that somebody new sent the wrong email format. It freaked me out the whole weekend!!!

Appointment is on the 09/17/2009 at USCIS St. Albans, VT

got an online notice of an RFE as of sept 3rd!

can't imagine what for... they got everything on earth... 3 years of tax transcripts, house lease, car papers, TWO kids birth certif., marriage certif., hubby's naturalization certif., joint bank statements, copies of my GC... everything is labeled and my A# is on everything.

so disappointed... was hoping this would be a fast and easy process. now everything is pushed back almost 2 weeks (while my case was just sitting and no one was working on it) and then however long it takes me to get them what they are asking for.

praying that whatever it is is something simple to get and send, and they get cracking on the case again asap. its been so many years of paperwork and money and time and energy spent, i am just ready to finish and never think of uscis ever again.

I had a similar e-mail to on Sept 3. I triple checked everything was in the packet I sent and know it was all there and apart from the three years tax transcripts was copies of the same documents we used for my visa application.

Makes the biometrics letter seem a hopeful outcome.

On Sept. 5th I got this email for CRIS:

Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, call 1-800-375-5283 to update your address

I sent more than 28 items/evidence of our marriage. I actualy include an index at the beginning. I'm praying that it could be the biometrics now that more than 3 people got this email in the last week and I sent my application no more than 2 weeks ago.

Maybe the "evidence" part is having a clearance on your fingerprints. Will see on Tuesday on the mailbox 'cause Monday in Labor Day.

It could just be your Biometrics letter, I had the same email from CRIS and no other letter arrived except for Biometrics.

Just thought I would provide an update on our N-400 interview yesterday. We passed first of all – which is great – but wanted to share the details with everyone. Our interview was in Philadelphia and scheduled for 11:20AM. We arrived around 10:45AM and didn’t have any trouble finding a parking spot on the street and just filling the meter with quarters. We went through security quickly and up to the 3rd floor waiting room. We spoke to a few other people that were also there for an N-400 interview that had been waiting for over an hour. Luckily they called our name at 11:35AM so only 15 minutes past our scheduled interview time. We both stood up and the office said he only needed my husband. So I had to sit in the waiting room. Twenty minutes later my husband came out and said he was approved. During the twenty minute interview the officer reviewed the N-400 form with my husband and reconfirmed that the information was accurate and that his answers were the same. He gave my husband a hard time at first because he didn’t remember if he had registered with selective service when he first entered the US (all men between ages 18 – 26 must do this) but we had a print out from the website showing he had been registered. He showed a copy of our mortgage which the office was pleased to see and actually kept one of our utility bills because we brought an original and the officer said he didn’t have a copy machine. For the test the officer’s computer randomly selects 10 civics questions. The officer stopped after 7 questions because my husband got them all right. The questions he remembers are:

- Who wrote the Declaration of Independence

- What was the United States concern during the cold war

- What is the United States economic system

- Name 3 of the 13 original colonies

- What are the two parts of Congress

- Who’s commander in chief of the army

He also asked my husband to write one sentence and read one sentence about government. After that he just told my husband that he had passed and that we would receive a letter in the mail with the date and time for the oath ceremony. My husband is changing his name so the officer told him that would be handled at the oath ceremony as well. He handed my husband a N-652 form with the officers name and a check mark saying he had passed the interview and test. He also told my husband that he was not a citizen until he took his oath. So after that we were done and out of there by 12:00PM.

making my own correction and adding my NOA1. hope i don't jack this up...

Hello All,

Not sure how many people are aware of this, so I thought I'd post. You can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and request your transcripts for a year or two or three or whatever you need. If you need it fast, they will fax it to you. I don't have a home fax and I felt uncomfortable having private financial documents sent out to a public fax @ kinko's. Plus, its an automated system so the fax could come after business hours (mine came after 9pm). So I used eFax (efax.com). Basic fax receiving is FREE (sending is NOT). I have my own free private fax# that I can use whenever I want. The faxes come through like email attachments that I can open with Acrobat or the eFax Messenger program.

The IRS will attempt to send the fax 3 times within 48 hours. If it fails, they will mail off a copy. For Adjustment of Status, it was mailed to me and came in less than a week.

Anyway, hope this proves useful to you. Having to pay 675 for the application and biometrics PLUS for shipping, photos and everything else, getting this fast and free might be a help.

sorry to hear that, Ant. i had to hold off for a month for the same thing. its annoying because its needed for a million things like her passport, adding her to the insurance, etc. hope it comes soon.

sent off N-400 on August 25th.

most of you were not here back in the day when i joined VJ, but its good to see some old names are still around. anyway, alot has happened in the times since. i didn't quit VJ on purpose. i got sidetracked by life, i guess. i lost my mom shortly after getting my green card which was an unexpected blow. i also moved a few times and had 2 babies back-to-back during my time away!

lots of ups and downs. but i am still here and i thank God for life.

i'm getting ready to file for naturalization and although it stings to shell out another crapload of cash AGAIN and resubmit all my papers for the millionth time, i want to get it all done so i can say buh-bye to USCIS for good.

i remain grateful to the VJers for all their support during my K1 and AOS filings and i wish you all fast approvals and happiness. i'll be lurking around for a while between smelly diapers while my N-400 is processing, so i'll be around even if you don't see me posting.

About to file N-400 within a week or so, just getting some documentation together. Its been a while and I'd forgotten how much running around is necessary for this stuff. I've been away from VJ for several years (which I mention in Off Topic) and its good to see some old names still around.

Quick (and possibly dumb) question... in the N-400 document checklist, it says "current" marriage certificate. Are they referring to the certified copy you get from the County Clerk, or a copy of the one I have from my actual wedding with the serial # on it? I think I sent a cert copy for AOS but if I can avoid Philly's $35 charge again, I'd be a happy camper.

congrats! its about time!

i've been busy with work... and am down with the flu right now... but i wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing.

for those of you that are still waiting, i hope you get your approvals soon.

best advice i can give...

1) start compiling everything as soon as you can. don't wait until a week before your 90 days is up to start figuring things out.

2) get all your vaccinations before you come to the States. its probably cheaper.

3) make exact copies of everything and put them in a secure, dry place (preferably a fire safe)

4) get the EAD. there is no guarantee even with a CSC transfer that you will get the GC in a timely manner. its a few extra bucks but it can be well worth it.

5) VJers are the best resource i can think of! Make a list of the ones in your area that are already done with AOS, and ask them about things like parking, interviews, biometrics, cheap civil surgeons, etc.

6) don't bother with the (mis)information line. after being on hold for ten lifetimes, you won't get any real information from them. they will just read off the same info that's on the site.

7) don't obsess over checking your status online. it will drive you nuts. seriously.

8) you never know what traffic will do so make extra extra extra allowances when going to your interview. i didn't have that issue myself, but i've heard a few horror stories of people missing their interview because of traffic delays.

9) check and re-check everything. then check again. then once more.

10) do something constructive while waiting. visit friends. volunteer. play sports. learn a new skill/hobby. it will make the time go by alot faster.

GOOD LUCK

aw guys... don't get discouraged. i know its easy enough for me to say now, but still... getting down about it won't make it come any faster. just think of it this way... you'll probably still be further ahead than if you'd never been transferred at all. many VJers who didn't get the transfer have maybe 4x the wait AND the stress of prepping for an interview.

i know when it was me, i tried to be patient... and many days i just had it up to HERE with waiting and worrying and wondering. but when it finally was over and done with, those few weeks and months didn't seem so bad.

alot of us have faced challenges throughout the journey, whether it was K1 drama, or Embassy drama, or finances, or RFEs, or arguments, or kids, or jobs, or whatever else. just remember that its a temporary delay and that you at least have your SO right next to you for support. and of course, you have all of us, rooting for you every step of the way.

those approvals will come when you least expect it. just do your best to stay positive.

well we filed about 2 months after the 90 days and got a CSC transfer. we sent in all the information required (last year's taxes, vaccination supplement, certified copy of the marriage certificate, etc) and had no problems.

if we have to interview later to remove conditions, thats fine with me. by then we'll have been married 2 years and have an abundance of evidence to throw at them.

as other posters noted, its yours to keep. i had one previously as well, from college. after AOS was approved, i got it changed to reflect my change in status and my married name.

Nothing else has come except for the welcome letter in the mail today...guess we'll see what happens next week. No updates on the case status online, no new email.

CONGRATS jeeleebee! its about time something good happened! you should be seeing your welcome letter and card very soon!
