  1. 1. sometimes is problem with version of pdf reader installed on your machine.

when you say 'online' i assume that instead of downloading the file, you are trying to open it in a browser. IMO, that's more headache. These really are NOT online forms, alas. You've got something linked in yer browser controls to try to auto-open pdf files, instead. IMO, that's just gonna muck you up a lot.

Right click, select 'save as' from the guz iv forms page INSTEAD of 'allowing' the browser to open it. Then open it with some pdf reader, not the browser. If there is a problem, only then can you see the error messages the pdf reader is generating.

    2. there are pdf-fillable versions of all forms. Don't forget that.

    3. if you really have problems with the ds-230, get the current one at DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

I guess if you are complaining about this now, maybe Geek knows of 'Casefile Opened' Timetick at GUZ IV? :D

God, a kind of hard for me to understand this. Well, have to wait for Geek to solve this. lol. Thanks, Darnell, you're so helpful for us.

  2. When I prepare P3 and P4 forms, I found these words "Please print or type your answers to all questions (DS-230 Part I)", and "Please type or print your answers in the space provided below each item (DS-156)" etc. on forms. Then I tried to fill these forms online, but failed, as even my cursor could put there, but can't type any English words there. I did further research on VJ, and found I can go to DOS website to find DS-156 online form to fill, but can't find other forms online for filling. So my question is, can I use black pen to fill these forms?

  3. Today we got reply email from NVC and a little excited that anyway looks like someone touched our case, but still frustrated that we don't know how long they will take for this checking with USCIS. Here is the email we got:

    Dear Sir/Madam:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your

inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action - Approval Notice.

Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your approved petition

from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The NVC will contact

USCIS on your behalf for information on the location of this petition.

  4. We jsut got NOA2 for our K1 visa petition, and my US fiance only sent my notarized single white book (Here we call white book for these notarized certificates)to USCIS, and they never asked me to give other documents.

Here I will share my experience how to get the un-married white book. Firstly, go to local civil affairs bureau(民政局) (Also in China, we have Hukou(户口) system, so please talk with the people working in this bureau about it) to get the certificate where they will state you have no any marriage records in this bureau. Then go to the official notary office to get the un-marriage notaried white book in Chinese and English.

As I know, so far we only need to submit three white books to Guangzhou Consulate: notarized birh certificate, notarized un-marriage certificate, and notarized no-criminal record.

Please search the relevant information in this website and you will get more.

    Good luck!

  5. Today is 4 weeks and 5 days, I called them and they only said "we have it and you will hear from us by mail for billing" should I have been more persistant and asked for case number??

I also found NVC slows down now, and so many petitioners have no Case number almost one month after NOA2 is received. I am just wondering whether from May to August is US student visa application summit period, and also summer break, maybe so many tourist visas applications... all of which drag NVC processing down?

  6. I was looking for information about how my Fiancé can receive her certificate of non-marriage. She is afraid that the Chinese notary will have to ask her employer for paperwork to prove she has never had time off to get married. This (of course) is something she doesn't want to do because she is afraid she would lose her job if they know she is trying to get a K-1 visa.

Anyone that has been through this or has information about the steps and procedure to get this type of document please let us know.

About "How Fiance can receive the certificate for non-marriage", you can search in VJ. I got one and never was asked me to show employment paper, so don't worry for this. Just in the front of notary to swear that you never have any kind of marriages before.

  7. na, safefile is used for everything, regardless of visa type, nvc processing intake methods.

    the following is opinion (mine)

SOME I-129Fs coming over via safefile, the GUZ IV fella makes a determination there, that 'what's in safefile is sufficient' and the 'opens the casefile' based on the safefile image copy, and then a P3 is prepped.

    (end of opinion)

I make this opinion based on studying stuff here at VJ (K-1 timelines, forum posts) and gleaned that if a timetick of 'casefile opened' (learnt from calling the DoS Hotline, btw) is within 4 weeks of 'NVC OUT' timetick, then shazaam, GUZ IV fella decided not to wait on the physical casefile, accepting the safefile image copy, instead.

    I hope that was clear?

I must congratulate you, though - as your question smacks of hours of prior research. Not many people do that. You Rock, officially.

    Good Luck !

Ok , so what you are saying is everything is sent safefile and DHL. GUZ IV can choose to open case file base on safefile or wait on hard copy. But shouldn't the safefile have all the same papers? I think they should do only safefile, would save us hard working tax payers a lot of shipping cost.

  8. remind him often,

as is big chance (50 percent) that your casefile will be 'handled' via safefile at GUZ IV.

If that's the case, things go fast.

If that's not the case, expect a 1 to 4 month wait ...

but - making that telephone call is important. Geek can do it, often.

Is not singular - is plural, la - many phone calls.

Good Luck ! And Good Luck with HIS Training !!

Hey, Darnell, I found information in Guangzhou Consulate, and I don't think we can get electronically transfer (is this "Safefile" you mentioned?). Here is the information:

Electronic processing is available only for immigrant visa applications processed at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, China and is currently available for the following visa categories: IR-1, IR-2, CR-1, CR-2, IR-5, F1, F2A, F2B, F3 and F4.

We understand the procedure for P3 and P4 now, and he will makes calls frequently. Regarding with Safefile, we did research too, and only thing we can do is to call and ask, and then cross our figures and hope this falls into us. LOL. Thanks again.

  10. excellent. you need to train yer geek to read and use a telephone.

The magic point (in case you missed it earlier)

is the DoS Hotline telling the Geek 'Packet 3 sent' when he asks , 'What's the status of the casefile?'

Hopefully, he'll tell you when he learns of that timetick, and

then YOU use the P3 shortcut that I wrote in the wiki. Include a cover letter containing your address change.

WOW, very helpful. Thanks again. Actually he passed this information to me, and I will remind him of following this. :D

  11. Thanks everyboday here! Thank you, Darnell! Really appreciate your input to help us to better understand this system. Now My address in China has changed and my fiance in US wants to inform them my new address and doesn't know when and how to do it. Hope to get your advice again. Thanks again.

  12. WOW bigdog. Amazing information. Looks like my wife needs only 3 vaccinations: MMR (Mumps/Measles/Rubella); Tdap (Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis); and Viricella (Small Pox). The rest are not "age appropriate" if you're over 18, and the Seasonal Influenza is not required April-Sept.

Has anyone out there brought Vaccination Records and had things go smoothly? My wife would prefer to get the vaccinations at her Hospital in Nanning, and bring the record that they would give her with her. However, I wouldn't want her to have trouble and/or get asked to have the vaccines a second time.

I am living in Shenzhen and went to hospital to inquire vaccine several days ago, and was told that hospital only can test instead of giving vaccine shots, and asked me to go to Disease Prevention Center. I went there last week and was told this center only give shots to kids, and never heard of shots to adults, and asked me to check it in the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. So I am still trying to find where I can get them and I am sure when I were kid, I have got some vaccines, but at that time no this certificate was issued.
