    AOS interview approved!, spent 15 minutes talking about solar power and ended up giving advice to the officer which company she should get solar PV installed. Then talked about Africa, travelling and tropical diseases for another 15 minutes. Then in the end, she just asked if everything in the forms is correct. Pretty relaxing experience!

    EAD/AP card received, AOS interview next week and relocating to San Francisco in Xmas. Exciting time!

      I know I am gonna miss it here though... Not many places in the world where you can just jump in the ocean right after work or drive 10 minutes and you are in the middle of a rain forest.

      I know what you mean. My wife and I have been talking about heading back to LA in the fall for the exact same reasons.

      Yeah, I found maybe 5-6 jobs in my field in Hawaii.. maybe one that I can apply for. On the first day I look for job in CA, I found 60-70 engineering jobs..probably 10 that I can apply for. lol

      But we would like to retire in Hawaii :-)

      Do you have a job ready for when you recieve it? I've had two interviews with recruting agencies. One said I am overqualified for administrative positions and the other said that within a couple of weeks she could definately have a job ready fo rme. Other than that I have turned down one job and I had another interview today and one tomorrow. Hopefully, Ill be working soon :)

      I have been networking and got some contacts. My EAD should come in 2 weeks or so. Haven't been very active looking for job since my mother-in-law is here on visit and my sister is coming next week too lol.

    Biometrics done! Very professional and courteous service at USCIS Honolulu. I was told my EAD should arrive in 30 days and GC interview appointment letter should arrive in 6-8 weeks!

    Got my temporary driving permit today valid until the expiration date of my I-94. The lady told me to come back and renew it when I get either GC or EAD. Although, my driving (learner) permit looks exactly the same as my wife's driving license. The guy who took my photo said something about verification and went in the other room. Did they make a mistake there? Do I still have to take the road test?

      Oh yeah..government positions are a pain to apply for. My wife's position hiring process took 7-8 months to complete and she is American...More background checking and slow-moivng HR review process.

      That reassures me! I was thinking they make it a pain only for non-americans. Well, I guess I'll prepare everything, apply for it when I'll be ready and continue to apply for private companies for now.

      Too bad, the application seemed very easy to complete until I read about showing proof of education... Haha!

    Social Security Card arrived in the mail today! YAY!

      Yay! See how fast everything is now! I updated mine with my EAD (and married name), but I need to update it again to remove the note "valid for work only with DHS doc" now that I have my GC. Yeah, I should start a collection of SS cards...

      Great! Yeah good thing I didn't change my last name after marriage. I can see a lot of paperwork hassle. The SSN office here is pretty fast, I only waited 10 minutes in line and I got the SSN card less than a week after I went there.

    Went to Social Security Administration this morning to apply for SSN. Easy as pie, only brought my passport. It should arrive by mail within two weeks! Next step: AOS!

      Hawaii is fantastic! I love it here, there is so much fun things to do! We got married last week on a mountain :) Preparing my AOS package now while waiting for the marriage certificate.

    Stockholm Embassy said my visa is issued and will be in the mail tomorrow morning. I love how fast everything is moving now :)

      Not yet, it was sent yesterday (thursday), so I think it will probably be here Monday. I have booked a flight on tuesday 7th, I'm not wasting anytime here :)
