I got aproved the day I had the interview & they never took my passport and stamped it. No need to worry about that.

Them not taking your passport would worry me. At my interview the IO took my passport and took the I-94 out of it, stating that I won't need it anymore.

yes you can.. my husband's income consisted of SSD and VA benefit and that's it.. his income is non-taxable, so he never did file taxes since he wasn't really required to. i just wrote an explanation, telling them why he hasn't filed and everything went fine, so yeah, you can use it as an income.

have you thought about marriage? you clearly had no intentions of staying when you came, so it might be a good idea if you adjusted status while here, nothing wrong with that.. you will be able to get an advance parole, so you wouldn't have to wait till you get a green card before leaving the country in case of an emergency back home.

Just wanted to say a big BIG thank you to everyone who helped me through this journey. If it hadn't been for this website, i would probably be head over heels in RFEs haha.

My interview was this morning (posted a review here http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cty=Louisville%20KY), everything went perfect and i was recommended for approval. Then later this afternoon i got a text that my permanent residence status has been registered and i'll be getting my card soon!

i can't believe that this is all over for a while, no more worrying and checking USCIS website every 5 minutes. Here's to everyone who is still going through this process, keep your head up and don't despair. I got very lucky and this whole process only took 3 months and a couple days for me, i hate to see others waiting longer, but the end result is definitely worth it!

when i heard his announcement, first thing that came to my mind was:"thank God i got my EAD", because i can only imagine how long the wait it gonna be now.. i waited 59 days, but i think that's nothing comparing to what is going to happen.. and i'm one of the lucky ones, some people wait way longer.

(of course unless Obama will approve it personally).

a lot of people confuse green card (permanent resident) and citizenship.. so i'm thinking that's what happened here..

i can't tell you how many people assume that a green card equals citizenship.

it just says your case number and that it has been updated. the number that it comes from starts with a 3 and its a five digit number

Wowwww... Just wow. Nothing more to say about OP's post. Wonder if she got a state ID with a fake SS#... And on top of it all, every job application I filled out clearly asked if u can show proof of being able to work legally.

Hmm... Apparently, there are 2 web sites and 2 companies, both are based in Chicago:

The first one (.com) allegedly charges $145, while the other one (.org) - $525 (claiming it to be "all inclusive" price). Not sure what's included and what's not in the $145 price charged by ISCtravel. Otherwise both web sites are 99% identical (same pages, same wording, same almost everything). Kind of suspicious ...

Yeah I saw that and thought the same. They look identical and that's why I mistakenly thought that they charged more when in reality they r two different sites. That's why I wanted to know from someone who actually had experience renewing their passports.

my letter came the same day my EAD came.

Which agency is that? Link? We were going to do that instead of making 2 trips to DC, but we have a problem with the name change which is a freaking nightmare. When she had her passport renewed last time it was great and they put the stamp in that showed her married name in the US. Great, but now because of that stamp they say she must actually change her name, and they require so much crazy documentation with translations and appostile.

If it's a Russian province of some sort, the Russian embassy would be the only ones I could think of asking. The US doesn't recognize any country named Zagra..

"zagran passport" is an international passport.. russian-speaking people would have understood, sorry, didn't mean to be rude.

jury duty...

i want to hear from someone who had experience renewing their "zagran passport" while in the US. i found one agency in chicago and they seem legit, but charge 400$ for a renewal.. if anybody knows of a better way, can they please share.

If so, why are you saying what happened to children is a slap in your face?

not in my face, in general to people who entered through customs.. look, if those "children" joined military, which they had to be 18 to do so (17 with a signature, but doubtful), they were adults and they knew what they were doing (i'm talking about misrepresentation).

there's a difference when they did it knowingly (again, yes i overstayed and i know it's wrong but i never worked illegally, nor have i ever claimed to be a citizen)

actually i was 16 when my visa expired.. so no, i wasn't an adult, but now i am

i feel like i dont have much room to talk because i overstayed, but i feel like its a slap in the face to people who entered with inspection through passport control.

my main question is this:

it said that if the studied in college OF SERVED IN THE MILITARY they get pardoned or whatever, but HELLO! you need to be a citizen or a PR to serve, therefore they misrepresented themselves to get into military and that carries a lifetime ban, right? so it's kind of a double standard because if they done it knowingly, they are no better then other ones they did it even though they weren't brought here as children.

like i said, im not really the one to talk, but i don't think its right that they just went against the law and pulled this.. good luck to people who havent gotten their EAD's yet.. and we thought 90 days is a long wait, buckle up!
