  1. Velociraptor, Thanks! :-) And I hope that would not be the case for the rest too..

I checked my status online at around 5-6pm (US time) but nothing. So I just went ahead with my plan today. My husband was surprised to have received an email/text from them at past 10pm. My husband thought, it could not be from them since it's late in the evening already and way past the office hours. Really hoping the remaining August filers will get their NOA2s soon... :-)

  2. For all the august 2001 filers remaining.

My wife just receive an RFE in her mail box. No e-mail, no text message, no update on the website. At this point I'm no longer surprised by the USCIS's pitfalls.

They are requiring a divorce decree (wife's) that we sent already. So, we are confused.

Do you think they might want the original or a legalized copy?

Im sorry about that..(and I kinda hope I dont get one...) It would be safe and sure to give them the original or if you have a legalized copy then maybe you can send it to them too... again, just to be sure. On the other hand, is there a way for you to get another original copy just in case you might need it at the interview? :-) Hope you get a positive result soon. :-)

  3. Are you saying that a child born in the Philippines is a US citizen because the father is Amercian?

What are the modes of acquiring citizenship?

There are two (2) generally recognized modes of acquiring Philippine citizenship, namely:

    1) by birth; and

    1) Jus soli (right of soil) which is the legal principle that a person's nationality at birth is determined by the place of birth (ie, the territory of a given state).

    2) Jus sanguinis (right of blood) which is the legal principle that, at birth, an individual acquires the nationality of his/her natural parent/s. The Philippines adheres to this principle.

    2) by naturalization which is the judicial act of adopting a foreigner and clothing him with the privileges of a native-born citizen. It implies the renunciation of a former nationality and the fact of entrance into a similar relation towards a new body politic. (2 Am.Jur.561, par.188)

  4. Punished for data mining??

No updates. But clock ticking on my service request. Arg.

I know it's coming but hitting mine last is just bad form.

USCIS actually has to thank you for "data mining" for the purpose of giving hope to all of us here. Your statistics helps us see reality so we don't feel left hanging in midair. Well that's how I feel, at least. Btw, I think we asked for service request on the same day and we were both told to wait for another 15 days for decision. And the deadline is next week. Really hoping for an answer soon.

  5. One which question . My daughter was born before i became a US Citizen , Do i need to fill out I-864W along with the I-864 when submitting my AOS documents

I think your daughter is qualified for the child citizenship act as it is also written in one of the conditions that a child qualifies if a parent is either citizen born in the US or naturalized citizen. I just read the link posted above. It applies for us too since my husband is a naturalized citizen and we got I-864w from nvc today for our sons ir2 visa application. :-)

  6. Guys I'm so happy to be reading this thread! We just received an email from NVC awhile ago for our son's IR2 visa application and we were told to submit I-864w. My husband and I were so confused about what to do for we thought we submitted everything necessary for the AOS. At least now we have an idea about what this is about though we might be having further questions in the future. thanks a lot everyone

  7. Just submitted our service request .... When I told the agent that I want 1 because we were beyond the processing time of 5 months she said that it didn't sound right and she had to check it. She checked and apologized ...... lol... God willing we will hear something in the next 15 days ....

We got the same response from them today. Really hoping for good news soon, God-willing. :-)

  8. I finally got my approval last night!! Aug 22nd date.

    Congrats!

Hi, have you guys tried calling USCIS? We called because their website was recently updated - 5 months processing time now, instead of August 2. They told us they were working on September 10, so you guys might be able to put in a service request or something.

It's interesting that we're going to hear something new from them. We'll try to call later. :-)

  9. Guess that means send it by overnight express. In short, courier it.

Thanks. I got confused because we already paid the IV fee but we haven't sent the AOS package yet. All this time I thought there's no way you can pay for IV bill until you send the AOS package and wait for it to be approved. And I'm like is this what I think it is? Send the IV package right away even without the AOS package getting approved yet?

  10. Though your case is not directly the same as mine, but by reading your posts here I already got the answer I was looking for.

My son was approved last month while here I am still waiting for my NOA2. He's almost at the end of his NVC journey and I was wondering if I delay his NVC journey a little so that I could catch up and have the same interview date with him. So that's my conclusion upon reading everyone's posts. To finalize this decision, you think it's safe to delay it? thanks for the help. :-)

  11. I am sorry to hear that you are still waiting. That is very strange that he'd be approved and not you. What do they say about it when you inquire? I will pray for you that your case will be approved soon also and that God will give you the needed strength to get through this test of time. This is jut a phase we must go through and a struggle until we get to our loved ones.

I guess since he's just a toddler, his case is easier to approve. Nothing to check much about his background or whatever. Thanks for the prayers. Will also pray for you. Looking forward to that day when we make an update about being with our loved ones already. :-)

  12. It seems like you did get one NOA2. What happened to the other one? I can't complain on the timing of things actually. I would have had a setback in paying the fees associated with NVC had we gotten approved already. Therefore, now I have the financial resources available to go through NVC more rapidly than before. I can not complain now because any day now that I get approved I will be able to afford all of the fees associated with the process. I believe Allah (God) has the perfect timing for everything. So, all I can say is Allah (God) is the greatest and I will await the time when is suitable for us to get approved. Hopefully as soon as we mail off this document they are requesting we will be approved in a few days or weeks. Sadly, we celebrated our 1st anniversary on cam a few weeks back. :(

Does anyone know if you can attach an expedite request letter with a requested document letter?

Hi Funfetti. My son and I have the same priority date but he got his NOA2 last month already. I agree with you that God's timing is perfect and even I cannot question that. But I need God's grace to help me be patient. Hope everything will turn out well on your side. I'm sorry I don't know anything about expedite request attached with a requested document letter.
