Hello Everyone! Can my USC husband apply me a tourist visa while we are waiting for my IR-1/CR-1 visa? We really want to be each other as soon as possible and he's thinking about the tourist visa if it's possible..
Thank's for your reply in advance! God Bless!
I don't think you can visit US using tourist visa while you are in an immigrant visa processing status. You really have to prove that your stay is temporary in US. Since you are the spouse of a US citizen, it is very difficult.
I have also applied for IR-1/CR-1 visa for my husband who is in India. He already has a tourist visa (B2) valid for 10 years. Unfortunately, he can not visit US using that visa. You can try if you want.

Anytime
. And yes, Vermont is a little faster. But don't worry, you will recieve your's pretty soon!
P.S. Update your timeline here on VJ, and continue to keep us posted
. Good Luck!!
Thanks. Can you see my timeline now?

You have to go to "https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp"
1. Create an account.
2. Add your case to that account.
3. Look where it says "Last update"
Example: If it says "Last update 11/18/2011" and you go a month later to check if it was updated, the last update Date would change, and therefore, you have been "touched". But it only changes IF they updated your paperwork. If not, then the "Last Update" stays the same until you recieve your NOA2!
Thanks for the link. I just created an account. I filed both I-130 and I-129F in Sep. I-130 was last updated in Sep 2011 and I-129F was last updated in Oct 2011. My applications are with California service center and I am upset that they are behind in processing. I see that Vermont is faster since some Sep applicants have already received the NOA2.

Where do you check to see whether your application has been touched or not? Please provide the link. My application status says "Initial Review" for the past 3.5 months.

Wow that was super fast! I have been waiting for 3.5 months since I received my NOA1. You are very lucky. Congrats!

Hello VJ friends,
I am an US citizen married a foreign citizen in Aug 2011. I have filed for both I-130 and I-129F in Sep 2011. My spouse has a visiting visa valid (B1 or B2) for 10 years. Can he visit the US temporarily using that visa while the immigrant visa is in process? Please let me know.
I was planning to visit him for Christmas but my employer denied my leave request.
Thanks.

Hello,
I filed for I-129F (Petition for Alien Spouse) in Sep 2011 and received a text/e-mail message that it was received on Sep 29th. I did not receive the receipt notice (Form 797) so I called USCIS and they informed me that it was mailed on Oct 4th. I told them that I did not receive it yet. They said that I do not really need that form since I already have the application receipt number received via e-mail. They refused to send another duplicate receipt notice.
My question: Will this create an issue later after the visa approval? Do I need to send a copy of form 797 to my spouse? Please let me know.
Thanks.
