I know it say end of June, but maybe, just maybe!!! ill get it end of May :)))) what do you guys think?? just starting conversation here btw! lol

I have been waiting since Sep 2011 (6 months) for NOA2.

  2. I just called USCIS again and they said that CSC is currently processing Aug 2nd applications and it will take one month to process my case (NOA1 dated Sep 19th). When I called last week, someone said they are processing July 12th applications so it will take 3 months to process my case. I noticed that some Sep filers have already received their approvals. I am not sure how they go by to process the cases.

Anyway, hope mine gets approved at least by end of March.

  4. Has anyone here addressed their letters of intent to the wrong service center? My fiance is in California, but we didn't realize until now that supposedly you need to put the service center you want to send it to on the letter, not the place you're sending the I-129f (Texas in this case). We're really nervous now because we were hoping to go by the California service center average time (5 months or so).. While texas is supposedly an average of 18 months, according to the USCIS website. :( We've been together for 10 years long-distance, filed for the I-129F in late October and got our NOA on October 25th. Anyone here with a recent approval/second notice of action through Texas? How long did it take?

I live in Maryland and I thought my case would be sent to Vermont Service Center but my case has been sent to California Service Center. I think they don't transfer the cases by our location.

  5. Yesterday got an email that the I-130 petition I had filed for my wife was approved. God is Great. My wife wish all couples much good luck and may God bless all of you. Keep the faith.

Wow. Congrats! I am also a September filer with CSC (NOA1 dated 09/19/11). When I called USCIS this week, they told me they are still processing July applications and mine will take 3 more months for approval.

Glad to see that CSC has approved some September cases now. Hope to get my approval soon.

  6. I got my NOA1 on 9/21/11 which means it's been 5 months. So I called USCIS and was told that CSC is currently processing cases from 8/13/11, which means I can't put in a service request. Anyone have any ideas? :help:

I have also completed 5 months with CSC and my NOA1 was dated 09/19/11. I called USCIS yesterday and they said they are still processing July 12th applications. It is strange. Don't know which one is true.

They asked me to wait 3 more months to receive the approval.

  7. Hello All,

I just called USCIS and spoke with a customer service representative. She said that CSC is still working on July 12th applications and it will take another 3 months to process my case which was filed on Sep 19th. I told her it is beyond the processing times and requested her to put a service request. She refused and said that processing time of 5 months is just an estimation.

This means I need to wait 3 more months for approval and it will not get approved until the end of May. I am losing my patience of waiting but I will keep praying. That is all I can do.

  8. Hello,

My foreign spouse's visa expires in Sep 2012. Does the passport need to be valid for atleast six months to receive the immigrant visa when he goes for his I-130 or K3 visa interview or to enter the US?

Where can I find the information on the passport validity requirements?

    Please help. Thanks.

Sorry I meant his passport expires in Sep 2012 not visa.

  11. Wherever his residence is, if he has changed his address to Pune then he should apply at Pune. Yes police does go to home to verify the address and the person.

    Thanks for your reply.

His current passport has Chennai address. He changed his residence in Pune several times. Does he need to put the Pune address or keep the Chennai address to renew the passport?

  12. Hello VJ friends,

I am still waiting for the visa approval for my husband who is in India. His passport is expiring soon in Sep 2012. I think when he goes for the interview, his passport should be valid for atleast 6 months. He is planning to renew it now.

Which passport office does he need to apply for renewal?

    1. The passport office in Chennai (original passport was issued 10 years ago)

    2. The passport office near his current residence (he lives in Pune)

I heard that when the police checks for verification before issuing the passport, the passport applicant must be present. Is that true?

    Please help.

  13. You do not need the interview letter to obtain a PCC. If Mumbai does not have a PSK, then you can go to the Mumbai Passport Office website, download the form, fill it up and go to the Passport Office. And even without a PSK, a PCC shouldn't take more than a week to ten days.

Oh ok. I'll try that. Thanks.

  14. You can try... police and passport office did ask for interview letter when I tried. Another thing is normally they are valid for 6 months from issue so then you don't want to apply far too ahead of time either.

If your spouse has passport issued in Mumbai his passport PCC would be quicker, my passport was issued in US so it took little longer for me to get passport clearance.

Police clearance is 4-5 weeks if you follow up with them, I dont tthink you need to rush, you should have plenty of the time to get them done.

Thanks for your reply. I thought the PCC will be valid for one year. I guess I will just wait for the interview letter to get the PCC.

  15. If it takes about 6-8 weeks to get the PCC, I think it is better for my husband to get it now. Can he get the PCC with out the visa interview letter?

  16. Hello VJ,

My I-130 and I-129F applications are with CSC and they are not approved yet. My husband lives in India and I want him to get the police certificate now but we do not know how to start. Where can I find the instructions on getting the police certificate? Please help. Thanks in advance.

  17. I am sure this sounds like a strange thing to be worried about and something that does not happen very often but I am concerned my I-130 was approved too quickly (I never asked for expedited service either). My NOA 1 receipt date was Jan 3rd, 2012 and I was approved on Jan 17th (14 days) when the CSC processing time is about 5 months vs. my 14 days. I figured something had to be wrong and went on-line to check my status and it said I was approved. I then called the California Service center and spoke to a customer service reps to confirm this. He confirmed it had been approved, details on the file matched my case and that it had been sent to the NVC for processing. They said they had never seen this happen so quickly before.

What worries me now is that downstream at the NVC or at the consulate a couple of month later they will later find out they did not process it correctly and send it back to the beginning. Should I be worried and try to ask more question or just thank god for looking after me?

Wow! This is super fast. You are very lucky. I have been waiting for 4 months since my NOA1.

  18. Hey folks, I hope we are all doing well today in the midst of our visa journey insanity...?

Just wanted to give all you I-130 applicants a heads up, for those of you whose petition is at CSC. It states on the USCIS website that it takes aprox. 5 months to process. Well for all of us beyond 5 months and without our NOA2, we know this is not the case. We were on the phone today with a lovely woman who was so helpful (i know this is not always the case). The California Service Centre current processing time is ***7 MONTHS***. I know this is a pain and longer to wait, but i was relieved to find this out and know that our petition is (1) not lost and (2) is still with in their CURRENT processing times. And yes i do understand that everyones case is different and often handled differently. Sometimes even the smallest bit of information can ease some stress though.

We are in I-129F (as K3) processing aswell and per our dates we can call back for a further update after february 1st.

Stay strong my fellow visajourney-ers. We will get through this!

Oh no. I am very sad to hear that CSC has increased the processing time. I have been waiting for 4 months since NOA1.

  19. Hi guys. I am just wondering how you negotiated with your spouse about bringing family to the US. Before marriage, my husband and I (the US citizen petitioner) agreed that it would be fine if his parents came for 2-3 weeks to visit us. He had asked me back then about how I felt about his family visiting, and I told him I'd be perfectly happy if they came for 2-3 weeks to visit us after he comes here. Now after marriage, he is saying that he wants them to come for 6 months of each year...! I'm not clear if he was just saying this out of emotion, or if he really means it! Being with parents is normal for him as he grew up with extended family around him, as in India adult children live with their parents and grandparents. But for me who grew up with my parents only, and moved away from home for college and currently live alone, this is not something I take lightly. His parents are wonderful people, and the best in-laws I could ask for. It's possible I won't have any issue with them coming over after the first time they visit. They are extremely sweet (though very traditional) and my husband things they'd do nothing but be nice to us, making us yummy food, etc. Even though I agree that them coming would most likely be a positive thing, but I think I deserve to keep my options open and say 'no' to extended (greater than 1 month) visits if I"m not comfortable with it.

Since my husband and I are not yet together, it's possible he's just going through some emotions and will be okay with the 2-3 week visit after he moves here. I just hope it won't turn into a problem for us. Although I don't think I will have any issue with them at all (as they are wonderful), I want my husband and I to be heads of the household in our home, and I feel like if his family comes then they will be the bosses and dictate our lives, as is done in Indian culture. I don't want to be a servant in my own home.... the 'good' daughter-in-law who is always catering to everyone's needs while sacrificing her own needs (for autonomy/independence, privacy, etc). Even now with my husband and I being long-distance, we don't have much privacy, as when we talk on Skype, his family members just come in his room and sit next to him while we talk, so we are limited in what we say. (For example, the other day I was sending him a kiss over Skype and telling him I loved him, and he got really quiet and mumbled to me that his dad was in the room.) Once they live with us, all privacy will be lost. Since they are so traditional, they'd criticize my more 'liberal' ways, even though my husband doesn't have an issue with my lifestyle. I currently have a 1 bedroom apartment, and I know if that if his parents come for 6 months, that would mean that I'd have to sleep on the living room floor for 6 months (as I'd be giving them my room, as is done in Indian culture). Some people (especially those of you growing up in Asia) may call me selfish, but I'm an American and this is how things are done here. I know my husband has a hard time standing up to his family and I think he would have a hard time telling them to come for up to 3 weeks only, as he'd probably want them to come for as long as they want to be here.

I'm just wondering how US citizen spouses have deal with this issue, and if your foreign spouses have been understanding in this matter. I'm hoping it won't be an issue at all, and that we can all get along beautifully, but I just want to know about others' experiences. Thanks!

Being an Indian born and raised in India and now an US citizen, I completely understand your situation and feelings. My situation is different. I currently live with my parents here in US. My husband who is in India has been living alone for many years since his mom passed away and his dad lives in different city. Once he comes here, we will have to live with my parents until he gets a job. I already told him and he agreed. I am sure he will have some difficulties living with my parents because there will not be much privacy. However, when I chat with my husband now via Skype or talk on the phone, my parents leave me alone and do not even come to my room.

I would suggest you to tell your husband how you feel. Try not to hurt his feelings or get him upset. Explain the situation here in US like one bedroom apartment, etc. It is very difficult for him to leave his parents and come here but he has to understand the lifestyle here. Also having his parents while chatting with you is not good. He has to close his room when he chats with you. Even though your in-laws are nice people, issues will come once they start living with you. Hope your husband agrees to your decision. Good luck!
