  1. Hello Everyone,

My case was just closed at NVC on Nov 20th. When I called NVC, they told me that my case will be forwarded to the embassy in India and I can't get the interview date in December due to the volume. I asked If I can get in Jan and they are not sure how long it takes for me to get an interview date.

Is anyone whose case was closed in Nov still waiting for the interview date? Please let me know.

    Thanks.

  2. This sounds similar to my story now....After my now husband got denied his fiance visa we got married this year... I have to tell him ahead of time to prepare his documents so we don't wait any longer.. He is the only son, however his dad resides here and his mom in India....That being said he prefers to put me on the back burner....Its gotten to the point, that I feel I'm constantly argueing with him or relaying it to his dad to get the ball going...Were married come on, be a big boy and send me all of your documents...He sent me most of the documents and I have been waiting a month for him to the rest he forgot....Still waiting...And am annoyed...

However, I suppose since I quit my job prior to going to India this year, for marriage. He feels its his responsibilty to support me. To the extent he can..He does send me money...However, I use it to pay off this process..Any fees, my plane ticket going back to India in a month....I mean its not a vacation when you go to a country that you never wanted to go to....

    Good luck

I am also experiencing the same situation like yours. My husband took 6 months to renew his passport and get PCC due to some issues in providing the sufficient address proof. I had to ask his dad for help in getting the new passport since his passport application got rejected twice. I have been waiting since May to submit the required documents to NVC. He just mailed the documents which I haven't received it yet. He felt like I pushed him and says that he is not going to rush to come here and he will just go with the flow. He even says that he is going to come to US only because of me since he already has a good life in India with good job.

  3. Well, I wouldn't want to live with the In-Laws too but what is he doing to change that? Can he himself work two jobs or work harder so that he can migrate with money for you GUys to get into an apartment of your own?

Not a bash but I'm really surprised that you and the OP are allowing this to happen.

No he is not willing to bring money to afford our own place. He thinks that it is my responsibility to support him until he gets a job. I agree with that but I seriously can't afford an apartment. I can afford food and clothes for him.

Well I don't want to divorce him since I love him so much and can't live with out him.

  4. Hello,

The visa process for my husband is at NVC now. I have paid all the fees but got delayed to submit the required documents. I will submit all original documents to NVC by the end of October. How long does it take for NVC to complete the final process and send it to the consulate in India? How long does it take to receive the interview date? Please let me know.

    Thanks.

  5. Hello,

My husband's last name is long. In his old passport, the last name was written with a single space in between and it was an error. Since he was planning to renew his passport, I asked him to write the last name together with no space when he applied for renewal. I filed for his visa with the last name written together with no space.

When he applied for his passport renewal and listed the last name with no space, they rejected his application. He reapplied and just got his new passport with a single space in the last name. It took 6 months to get the new passport. He said that he has to go through the name change process to have the last name written with no space in the passport. He said it is a very long process.

Now the problem is that the visa is being processed here in US with no space in last name. His passport reflects the last name with a space. Will this create a problem when he goes for the interview in Mumbai and receive the visa? Please advice.

    Thanks.

  6. I just wanted to know if most of the foreign spouses were excited to come to the US and be with their husband/wife, or if it felt like they were more content to procrastinate as long as possible to come here. I told my husband back in April, to ensure that he gets me his passport, PCC work by end of July. Now it's end of October, and the work is still not done. And I do not think he'll have his documents ready for me until the end of the year, the way things are going. To his credit, he has made some efforts, and has also had some setbacks that have delayed things... but just not enough effort to satisfy me. His work and making money for his parents (who he lives with) is his priority right now. He owns his coaching business, but doesn't not want to take too many days off to do the visa work, as he is afraid that if he does so, the students will leave and go elsewhere. Most of the few days he has taken off have been used to take his mom to her medical appointments. And the two days he has taken off for me (or 'us' rather) since August to do visa work have unfortunately not panned out, as he had setbacks, which were not his fault.

My parents are fully aware of the situation, and are also very much troubled by the fact that he isn't making me a priority. I'm his wife, and I'm a full time student... but he does not send me any money, though he works. He laughed when I told him that as my husband, he should want to provide for me. He says he lives in a poorer country and has less than I do, so it doesn't make any sense for him to send me money. Rather he though that I should be the one trying to send him money as he is financially strapped taking care of his parents' expenses. I agreed that I had more than he does, but my money comes from student loans, which have to be paid off later with interest.

Hi, I am almost experiencing the same situation. I got married in Aug 2011 and filed for visa in Sep 2011. My husband passport was about to expire in Sep 2012 so I asked him to apply for renewal in Jan 2012. He dragged and applied for renewal in May only after the NOA2 in April. I have been waiting since April 2012 to submit the valid passport copy and PCC. He had some issues with getting the new passport and finally got it last week. He just mailed me the original documents last week to submit them to NVC. It took 6 months to get the new passport and the PCC. I felt like he did not make enough efforts to get them sooner and get here to be with me. He felt like I pushed him and blamed me that he had to struggle because of me to get the new passport. He clearly said that he did not want to rush to come here. He is not happy about leaving his good pay job and leaving India. Sometimes I feel like asking him, "Why did you marry me if you do not want to leave India and start your life in US"? I understand it is very difficult to leave the home country and start the life in a foreign country but he should have considered all these before the wedding.

I currently live with my parents. I asked him to live in the same house until he gets a job. I want to move out separately after he gets a job but he wants me to move out now and live separately. He said he will only come if I live in a separate apartment or house. I told him several times that I can't afford an apartment but he wants me to get a high pay job or second job to afford it. He wants me to work hard until he gets a job. I tried to convince him to adjust in my parents' house for few months but he is not willing to do that. He said I can take my time to save money and move out separately. Then he will come to live with me. Otherwise, he will stay in India until I move out. I felt like he is threatening me emotionally and again he is not rushing to come here.

  7. Hello,

After so many struggles, issues and long waiting since May 2012, my husband just got his new passport today from Pune Passport Office. Now he needs to get the police clearance certificate (PCC). Does he need to get the PCC from the passport office or police station or both? Please guide me on how to apply and receive the PCC. I want to make sure that we follow the correct procedures and get it from the correct place.

    Thanks.

  8. Thank you both for your replies. The problem was the address proof documents. My husband prepared the documents again and reapplied with the help of an agent. He just got his passport today. Now he needs to get the police clearance certificate.

  9. Hello Everyone,

In May 2012, my husband applied for his passport renewal in Pune Passport Office. His passport was originally from Chennai but he has been living in Pune for 4 years so he had to apply there. In August, they closed his application with out issuing his passport and no reason was given. They asked him to reapply. He reapplied in September and went to the passport office for an interview yesterday. They rejected his application saying that the documents are not sufficient. All documents he submitted were correct. Now we do not know what to do.

Does anyone know someone working in Pune passport office or good passport agent who can help us? NVC will not transfer the case to India and schedule the visa interview date until I submit a copy of his new passport. My husband has been waiting for his new passport since May.

Please provide some guidance and help. Thanks.

  10. Thank you very much for your advice and guidance. I really appreciate it.

One more question - The passport office told him to wait for a letter (takes 10-15 days) to reapply. Will they accept the application if he reapplies without the letter? They told him that he needs to mention the previous application number.

  11. I can't believe that those police guys ripped him off with Rs 3000 INR. That is really too much. Your hubby shouldn't pay him more than 1k.

Whatever happened, that can't be undo. Anyways, lets go ahead with future:

I would say - re-apply for passport under Taktal again. Dont care what they say to your husband, but let him make sure that he has urgency and he needs it right away. He really needs to speak BOLD in this matter.

    Go to this site: http://passportindia.gov.in

Fill your application under Taktal, and book an appointment. Since he is going to show his Pune address as his current address, then he is updating his address. He must have to provide required 3 address proof ( as per their list requirement ). Bring all proof, and go to PSK , then your husband should be getting his passport granted.

Please note, it all depend up to granting officer. Taktal means - EMERGENCY. Means he needs it right away. He is paying Rs 2500 INR for Taktal , so they must have to provide it ( no matter what ). Don't take words! put pressure on them, show your emergency. That is it.

I dont see why Taktal would take time. All they have to print the passport, as Police verification would be POST verification.

In my case, I applied for passport on Dec 12, and they printed the passport same day.

Please give a strong try now! I pray it works out for you guys! Be strong! Dont take their words! Granting officer is only one who has right to make decision for your application.

P.S. - In case if your hubby is having hard time to get an appointment online, then call to PSK customer care, and ask them, which of their office in Pune would allow to go without appointment? As he has emergency to get his passport re-issued right away.

You don't have to accept what they say. You have to make the things happen the way you want! I know it looks hard, but you have to try harder.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much for your advice and guidance. I really appreciate it.

  12. Based on given info by you, they should make no hassle for him to grant the new passport. Did they tell him, why is he disqualified to apply thru Taktal mode? Did they tell him that he must have update his Pune address before he is able to renew his passport? If that is MUST condition by them, then he would need to provide 3 address proof, and all address proof should be at least 1 yr older. They have list of addresses that are accepted by PSK.

In Dec 2011, I applied for re-issue passport thru PSK Chennai, I had no difficulty to extend validity of passport, add spouse name, update Chennai address, replace damaged passport. I did it under Tatkal and it just took 2 days few hours to get passport in my hand.

As far as, I understand, Police verification is required if you are updating the address or making some major changes which require extended verification by Police Station.

One of my friend who was from Trichy, he told me he was able to renew his passport same day! He didnt experience any police verification.

Thanks again for your fast reply. They told him that they can't accept his application in tatkal due to high volume of applications. I don't think they told him to update his Pune address but he provided address proof with three completed personal particular forms. He added my name as spouse and provided the marriage certificate. Also when the police called him to the police office for verification, they asked him to provide more docs and he did that. They demanded more money to proceed the application process so he paid extra Rs. 3,000 to the police officer. Then they said everything is ok and they will come to his neighborhood for more verification. After few weeks, the online status showed that the police verification has been completed and the passport will be issued by Aug 11th. Then the status changed to "Your application has been closed. Please reapply using the previous application number or contact the PRO".

I think if it was Chennai, it would have been easier. Unfortunately, he has to apply in Pune because he has been living there for the past 4 years.

  13. Let me ask you few questions:

#1 - Is he changing the address in his passport?

#2 - Is his current passport expired or about to be expired?

#1 - His original passport was from Chennai. He still has the Chennai address as permanent address and the Pune address as current address. They did the verification in Chennai Passport Office as well. It went through with no issues.

#2 - His current passport is not yet expired. It will be expire on Sep 24th. He applied for renewal because we found out that the passport has to be valid for atleast 6 months to receive his visa when he goes for the interview.

    Thanks.

  14. Did he apply thru PSK Pune? Seems like very rare situation for your case.

If applied for renewal under Tatkal thru PSK, then it would take few days only to get new passport in hand.

Thanks for your reply. He tried to apply in Tatkal first in May but they refused to accept and asked him to apply in normal. It is supposed to take 45 days but it took 90 days just to close the case with out telling the reason. They even transferred his application to another passport office in Pune which handles only normal. Now they are asking him to reapply in the new passport office and told him that he can't apply in Tatkal service or any other location.

  15. Hello,

My husband applied for his passport renewal in Pune Passport Office in May 2012. It has been 3 months and he still has not received the passport. When he went in person and inquired, they said that his application has been closed and he has to reapply. They refused to give the reason for closing the application with out issuing the passport. They actually did all the procedures and processing including police verification but now they refused to issue the passport.

Unfortunately, he has to reapply and we do not know how long this will take. I am still waiting to submit the renewal passport to NVC. Then only he will receive the interview date.

Did anyone experience the same issue or know why the case was closed even though everything was done correctly?

Please let me know and provide some advice. I am very upset that we waited 3 months just for renewal and now we have to start all over again.

    Thanks.

  16. Hello,

My I-130 case was approved at CSC on March 30, 2012. Then I received and paid the I-864 bill from NVC and submitted the Affidavit support documents in April 2012. Then I received IV bill from NVC and paid in May 2012. After that, I received a letter asking for supporting documents like passport copy of my spouse, original copies of his birth certificate, marriage certificate, photos, and police certificate.

My husband's passport expires in September so he applied for renewal in May. Unfortunately, he still hasn't received it yet. It is getting delayed. He still has to get the police clearance certificate once he gets the new passport. It looks like it will take at least 2 months to get everything we need to submit to NVC.

My question is how long do I have to submit these documents to NVC? Do they decline the application if I don't submit the supporting documents within few months? Please advise.

    Thanks.

  17. Hello Everyone,

My husband's permanent address is in Chennai but it looks like NVC will send the visa package to Mumbai consulate instead of Chennai Consulate. My NVC case number starts with BMB which stands for Bombay. I am not sure why. Did anyone else experience the same situation? Please let me know. Thanks.

  18. Hello VJ friends,

My I-130 and I-129F both finally got approved on March 30th after waiting for 6.5 months. I was very happy to see the approval. I am in India right now with my husband so I was able to share this happy news in person. Thank God.

For those who are still waiting for their approval, please pray and God will make this happen in his right time.

  19. Hello,

I just received the RFE for I-129F requesting for the passport size photos of myself and my husband who is the beneficiary. When I sent my application, I included the photos with the names written on the back and in a small ziplock bag. Why is the USCIS asking for information already submitted?

Did anyone else experience the same situation?
