My husband just had his CR1 visa interview today in Mumbai. They took all documents from him and informed him that they will notify him in 5 days. Unfortunately my husband did not question them why. I thought they would tell him the result whether it is approved, denied or need more documents. I am so confused and worried now.

Does anyone have any idea of why they are holding the documents with out telling the result. Please advice.

No you don't pay at the consulate, you already paid the fee.

$230 that you paid at NVC is the same fee. You don't have to pay that again.

My case just got transferred at NVC, and I am bit confused. I am USC and my husband is Indian citizen living in India. I am going to assign myself as agent for DS3032 form. Who has to fill out the DS230 form and at what stage? I thought after case got transferred to US consulate in India, my husband will have to submit the DS230 form along with all the documents.

Thanks for your reply. I also registered myself as agent. Then I submitted the DS230 form with my husband's signature and paid the IV fee at NVC. Complete the choice of agent form and send it to NVC. Then you will receive an e-mail from NVC asking you to submit the DS230 form with supporting documents.

There are no fees for CR1 at the embassy. All fees were paid at NVC.

The current exchange rate for $1 is Rs. 57.

When I submitted the IV application (Form DS230), I have paid $230.00. Is this a different fee that needs to be paid at the interview?

Also after I selected the pickup location, it says your transaction is complete. When I come back to the home page, the document delivery information is blank but the visa type is listed as NVC scheduled appointment. The IV Address Registration tab was not highlighted in red when I selected the pickup location. Please help.

Hey try from the scratch. Log in and the first step would be your visa type, 2nd step would be Mumbai (if that's where your interview is scheduled), then third step select your visa category and a couple of more stages of personal information and then the documents drop off location offices would show up. It's easy.

It is not letting me proceed with out selecting the visa type. To register for passport to be delivered home, it can only be done after interview at the consulate. when you walk out the consulate there is the counter where you can pay 300Rs and fill the form for passport to be delivered home.

But till your interview, maintain your registration that you confirmed for VFS pick up of your passport via USTRAVEL website.

Well I didn't pay 300 Rs but my interview was on 26th Nov and I got my visa and passport on 30th Nov. Really smooth and faster.

Congrats! Did you pickup your passport or get the passport delivered to your home? If the passport was delivered, how did you select that option at the US travel doc site? I can see only the pickup option. Please let me know. Thanks.

My husband's visa interview is scheduled for Jan 10th. I read in the interview guidelines from Mumbai Consulate that the passport will be delivered with visa after the interview so we need to register and enter a delivery address. Thus, we registered at this site below.

We created a profile and tried to add the delivery address but it is only allowing us to select pickup location. Does this mean the passport will not be mailed? Why does the mumbai interview guidelines show that the passport will be mailed? Please help.

I am yet to schedule an interview.

As per the information I have seen here and in the Mumbai Consulate website, the Medical exam is usually valid upto 3 months.

It is a good idea to get it done in advance, I am planning second week of December.

I think now would be a good time for your husband to get this done with.

Original Appointment Letter

Three Recent Photographs

Is the appointment letter from the hospital or just visa interview appointment letter from NVC?

Is there a measurement or size restrictions for the photographs?

Is it better to have the medical exam done now or wait until two weeks before the interview date to do it?

Finally received my interview date!!!

"An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled for the applicant at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in

MUMBAI (BOMBAY) on January 29, 2013 at 07:30 am."

Quick question:

Under the Document Name and Document Status, there are a few marked Y and a few Marked O.

Y = The required document has been received

O = The original document has been received and accepted as meeting post requirements

Do I still need to carry copies any of the documents marked Y or O ?
