  1. Lady's and Gentlemen, I'm a U.S. Citizen.

It didn't go well at first and it was rather stressful because my name change request wasn't done (again). Calls where made and my request was quickly approved by the court right there. I was allowed to attend the ceremony and became a U.S. Citizen. After the ceremony I was asked to go with the IO from the court house to the federal building where my certificate of naturalization was written. I'm very glad this is over. Monday morning I have an appointment at the passport office in DC because I'm leaving this weekend on a trip.

    What a ride!

    Congrats..

  2. So what are my odds here? I would like to apply for citizenship this year, should I get the Status information letter and try to explain the situation on my interview or should I just wait before my 10 year green card expires and apply then?

    Thanks for your help,

    Carlos

I would say apply. What do you got to loose. Worst case if they decline the application you can always appeal to higher court for review.

  3. It is pretty common for the supervisor review. Mine took about 2 hours between the email supervisor review started - supervisor review completed. Following day I received email saying I have been put in the que for Oath Ceremony. Congrats about your approval. You should hear pretty soon.

  4. Thanks. I do not have a problem with child support. Is there will be a problem if I filed a bankruptcy to relief from my debt..

I do not think it should be an issue, since it is a protection offered by government. I filed for bk in 1995 to stop a foreclosure due to bad economy, but later withdrew my bk request as I did not want to go through with it. I would check with atty but it should not effect n-400 application.

  5. i call uscis to speak to sencond officer today and basically told me that they haven't made a decision yet and if i do get denied that it dosen't mean nothing that i can still apeal it and to give it about 30 more days and to call back and keep waiting........

Good Luck for you. We all are hoping and praying for you. Hope you get it soon.

  6. I have an additional question. USCIS's guideline says that "If you have a dependent spouse or child(ren) who do not live with you, send . . ." supporting documents such as "court order . . .".

I don't know what to do in this case because our stepdaughter lives with us only 30% of the time and the court order is to my USC husband and not to me (I have no obligation to pay support for her). Do I still need to attach these documents? :help:

You can always make info pass appointment and find out the details.

  7. What is Global Entry?

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Though intended for frequent international travelers, there is no minimum number of trips necessary to qualify for the program.

Though it says international travel they are adding several domestic air lines and airports. Delta, American and other air lines listing the program on their web sites. Also it can be used at land entries and cruises. They officially launched the program only few months ago and now expanding it. Before it was in the test/beta phase.

  8. Hi all,

It's time for me to fill out the N-400 application and I'm faced with the same old question on my stepdaughter who is not exactly a stepdaughter because my USC husband doesn't have a joint-custody. He is a non-custodial parent. We only have her 30% of the time and my husband pays some child support.

Do you know if I still have to count her as my stepdaughter for the naturalization purposes? :help:

    - M

Yes. You have to declare. Child is a child. Custody has nothing to do with when declaring family information.

  9. Just so we October filer are not forgotten...

I went to my oath ceremony today, but couldn't participate because they did take my request for a name change into consideration. The officers where really friendly, but it's still a bit disappointing how messed up my case is. Three to four weeks longer for me.

    Good luck to everyone!

Hang in there. You are almost done. Just relax and enjoy the moment and before no long you'll be USC.

  10. If that's the case, and you weren't on their radar before, you might be now because you applied for citizenship.

Joker64, I agree with arvinb. I think you should lay low while it is still being processed. If the decline it you can always appeal to court. The more you push it can fireback. Stay cool and wait. We all are wishing the best for you.
