  1. I know how you feel. I was very frustrated too. Especially considering the fact that I was told during the interview that my green card was appoved.

Have you tried to contact your congressman/ senator or ombudsman? To tell you the truth I was filling in the electronic form for ombudsman assistance and I checked my status on the USCIS web-site because I wanted to do a printscreen of it and to attach it to the form as one of the supporting documents (according to the instruction). I had no more hope whatsoever.

That is probably a good idea. I thought about it before, but I feel like I should just be more patient, other people might need the help more than me. Well, we missed our vacation in my home country, so I think it is time for me to contact my senator!

  2. Pickle, thank you. I am very happy, I couldnt believe my eyes when i saw it online. I hope I will soon receive the card. How about you? Any changes?

Nothing. I am getting closer now to the 3 month mark! It is ridiculous that people who applied 6 - 7 months after me will have their approvals before me. I am so tired of waiting.

Enjoy this moment of happiness and relief!

  3. Almost two months after the interview (April 30 - family based AOS, k1) the status has changed to "USPS picked up my card"! hopefully i receive it soon.

but when tracking the number on usps web-site, it shows that the shipment was accepted in Corbin, KY, went to KNOXVILLE, TN and only then finally to GA. I live in GA. Why such a complicated route? Or was the case transferred to KY?

At this point I think you should only jump for joy that it is on its way, regardless of the route :dancing: . Congratulations, I am happy for you that your wait is over!!

  4. Yes, they are great! Once they received my payment, it took exactly 3 weeks for me to receive my birth certificate in an email, and another week (it could've been less) to receive it in the mail. Claire Nieuwoudt was the girl who helped me, and she was great responding to my emails and answering my questions.

Edit: I have to add I did all this from the USA and it still was that fast :)

  5. Hello all. I am new to this and don't understand the lingo so please bare with me. I filed for my husband is August as well. We had our interview may 26. Everything seemed to go well we took our 5yr old and the officer spoke with his and Made small chat. She asked me my husband full name, place and date of birth. She asked my husband the same. The only other questions besides the yes/no Q&A were how did we meet. We explained and she took notes. I mistakenly gave her the wrong yr but corrected myself immediately. She asked my in-laws names and if we had any other proof we'd like to present. I showed pictures of from my pregnancy until now. Along with a couple of cards to each other. She told us she was going to look over our file and make sure she had everything she needed and that if she did we would be approved and receive an approval notice.. Should I be worried? I noticed everyone else was given a response on the spot. Thank you for your help.

You will be fine. Not everyone gets approval on the spot. Like the previous poster said, your file will probably be given to a supervisor. Not all the interviewers has the authorization to give an approval. I have been waiting for a decision since April 16! My interviewer said she will recommend us to her supervisor for approval.

  6. Did I read out loud about my qualification? Buddy, I'm a B.Sc, Doing M.Sc. now and done two diplomas on GIS/RS.

You mentioned something about high school, so I think the poster was just trying to be helpful based on that bit of information you provided.

Two agencies exhibited my show but they asked me to be there. Which I couldn't on that time for my high-school. Now after being a graduate. I'm willing to.

  7. I dont know what's wrong with their system, but when I check my I-131 petition online, the web-site says "Your application or petition is currently within the posted processing times. An inquiry may not be created at this time" but when I check my AOS petition I still get the same message. I know a person who is from the same country as I am, came here on the same visa (K1) and lives in the same state, went to the same field office 2 days ago and her status changed to "welcome notice" on the following day.

So it's not that the field office is overloaded with petitions.

And plus, we called again yesterday (yesterday it was 3 weeks since the interview) and no useful information was said. Only in addition that I cannot submit an inquiry before it's been 5 months.

I am just afraid that they lost my case (here is the irony - after the actual interview) but refuse to admit it.

I don't think you have to worry that they had lost it. I have a similar situation of someone that got approved and card ordered on the same day of interview at my local office, while I'm waiting weeks and weeks. Just the luck of the draw I guess. We were just unlucky (and everyone else would say it's a case by case bases and we shouldn't compare, which I am aware of, but at this late stage I don't feel like that apply anymore if you have already been told you are approved like you have). I know how frustrating it is, hang in there.

  8. How to make an inquiry? When i try to submit an inquiry here (outside normal processing times) https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?sroPageType=onpti get some kind of an error saying 500 Servlet Exception and that "For input string: "The service or article

you selected is not compatible with form I485, sub-type selected, and receipt number MSC xxxxxx". How else can I make inquiry? Over the phone I am told that I need to wait for FIVE months before they can actually let us make any inquiry. Maybe there is a phone number that I dont know about? Or another way to do it?

And yes, the officer said that my green card was approved and also gave me a paper (though without his signature) saying that on April 30 I was granted conditional permanent residence. Moreover he mentioned 3-6 weeks that it would take for me to get a green card but also added that usually it happens sooner and faster. But so far no green card, no onine updates, no decision made. I dont really understand why it is taking so long.

Goodness, I wonder if service requests are in a sense "disabled" for a specific receipt number until it reaches a certain date (since the error message says "not compatible with....and receipt number MSCxxxx). I half understand why mine is taking so long, but if your interviewer specifically said you have been approved, I would call again and try to submit a request by phone. Unfortunately there are no other numbers (that I'm aware of anyways), just the one call center number.

  9. I haven't called or made an infopass appointment, because from reading experiences from others here on VJ, both seems like you just get generic responses so it is just a waste of time. They really only know as much as we do. Also, she did say 6 - 8 weeks (I thought she meant I will get my card in 6 - 8 weeks, but now I know she probably meant I will get a decision in 6 - 8 weeks), and said she will recommend us for approval. Why it has to take so long, I don't understand. Tomorrow is 5 weeks.

That is strange that you are having to wait so long when you were approved! Maybe you should make an inquiry, if nothing else but to set your mind at ease :)

  10. Can't believe browsing on my phone and a text came in from USCIS about case update l, I hurry to check what it was and I found this on May 19, 2015, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSC159xxxxxxx, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address. I have been approve for a 10 years green card and I am so greatful to God made it possible for me even when I doubted that it will be possible because of my domestic battery charge which was dismissed because I was innocent. God always has a way he does things and he always do it at his own time and he has done this great thing for me and am so greatful. It took a month and 4days since my interview to approval. Hope everybody who are still waiting gets approve soon. Thanks

    That s great news, congratulations!

  11. My experience, don't count dates. Just let it go as normal and it will come in no time. Just do your daily routine (works, schools, outdoor activities...) Good luck.

That's true. And I know I will see it like that and give that advice once this is over and done with and I look back on the process. It is not inhibiting my daily life, but when I do think about it I get frustrated. I would not have been so antsy if it was not for the holiday we had planned for June. And there I was last year, thinking my prediction of getting this done by April will be "the very latest..."

Thank you for your encouraging words!

  12. We had our interview on 29 April, and were approved on 30 April. Our interview was less than 10 minutes long, and the IO talked about Nepal for at least 4 of those minutes! He practically asked us nothing, and it was really easy and simple. The only questions he asked were:

    1) What is your (own) phone number (to me, non-USC)

    2) What is your address

    3) The usual "are you a terrorist" questions

    4) To my husband, the USC, "do you still have a PO Box in California?"

    5) Do either of you have children? (he asked this at least twice)

    6) Is this the first time you've worn a tie (to my USC husband)?

As we are both big travellers, he advised that I document all of my travels in case I decide to apply for citizenship at a later date. He then said "well, I guess you won't be going to Nepal", which we both thought was a little tasteless. We then talked about Nepal.

This officer was a bit of an odd duck. During our interview, he took a piece of tape and started picking up all the dust on his desk, saying that if he didn't, he would be sneezing by afternoon. It was a little distracting. He also didn't want any more evidence than that from our application, but said "well, I'm supposed to ask, and, being the good bureaucrat that I am, let's just say that I asked you for it. Yeah, let's go with that". Honestly, it seemed like he already had his mind made up about us even before we went in for the interview.

Anyways, that was our interview experience. We're thankful that it went well and that the green card is in the mail. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Hahaha, how bizarre! Odd is good though, he approved you :D Congratulations!!

Our interview was more than 10 minutes because our interviewer was not prepared for us, but the questions were almost identical to yours (except for #6, haha). No "how did you meet" for us either.

  13. Hi all,

I am really appreciated for your helping and useful information. Today, I received texts and emails from USCIS that my I-130 and I-485 have been approved. About 1 hours later, they sent me another text/email noticed that Card/Document Production. It is exactly 2 weeks as the interviewer/officer said. My husband and I are extremely happy and relieve after this really long waiting game. Good luck to all of you!!!! Best wishes for you! I hope we can see each other after two years from now on. During this time, I will try my best to help you through my experience. Please don't hesitate to send me an email :)

That's great, congratulations!! Exactly two weeks for me as well today.
