WOW lots of replies! So im assuming i should get the letter on monday, as i recieved the text on the 8th saying they were sending a letter for the RFE, i'll let you all know what it is as soon as i get it! Hopefully it's something simple!
I'm hoping to receive the letter today... if not Monday for sure... Can't wait
-
oooh!! congratulations!!
-
From my understanding just for her to take it w/ at the interview...
-
Can someone please explain what an RFE is?
RFE=request for evidence. I'm getting RFE because my application isn't completed or I'm missing some documents...

Just the other day I ran into some old friends.
“When’s Ice coming back?”
“Hopefully by Dec 27th because that’s our wedding day.”
“How is he going to stay here?”
“He’ll be coming on a K-1.”
“Didn’t they abolish that?”
“…..no. No, they didn’t.”
Mixture of just not knowing, stupidity, and look of horror when they find out I’m getting married to a foreigner and “so young too!” on their face. Anyone who finds out, anyway. The less they know, the better.
lol.. I didn't know you used to have stupid friends

I hope they're lying!! That means they haven't gotten very far!! Hey are you or your fiance from MN? I am too! Haha
Yeah.. I live in MN. Fiance is in Thailand...
-
sorry to hear that.... i guess when you're in love, you don't really see their true color.. all these advices above are good...
-
Got RFE too! so.. let's wait what they'll ask for.. I'm sure they need the document of name change from both of us.. and possibly a statement from both of us that say we will get married w/in 90 days of his arrival(i wrote a letter that explained our relationship blah )and possibly his passport photos (the one we sent are a little bit smaller than my passport photos) I can't wait until I get the letter... Even though this is causing a delay But I'm happy that they're looking at my case...
-
When I called a couple days ago, they said they're working on cases from June 16th. Not sure they're telling me the truth..
-
Simply smile at them and say "even though he's so far away from me but he's always inside my heart and always will"
-
Yeah send that document w/ your application.. I think I'm getting RFE for not including that document... I'm waiting for the later to be arrived... If I get it before you sending in your application, maybe i can let you know.
-
I called them yesterday and today my case status changed to request for evidence. I looked at your Timeline I think if you don't have any RFE.. yours probably would be approved by next week or so!
-
I'm not hoping for NOA2 right now.. I will definitely get RFEs so I can't wait to get my RFE.. and send them right back the next day... and being approved after 1 week! hahahaha Time like this all we can do is LMFAO for no reason..

Okay I just called them during my lunch hour. They said that they're processing the cases from June 16th. My case shouldn't take much longer. I should call them back the end of next week.
Lady on the phone speaks English that I can't really understand. I like accent from the midwest/north better.

Mine has passed 5 months on the 24th of Nov. I haven't called them yet. Thinking of calling them and see what they would say. To see some of our VJ members who applied after us got their approval before us really making me wondering ####### is going on w/ the CSC. anyway.. will call them tomorrow morning...

Also just found this thread on this board as well as an overview about calling USCIS. I haven't tried what's suggested here though.

Thanks for the link..

Woah.. this is great! I was looking for this kind of post!!!!
Now I'm going to practice and call them next week.. I got a little nervous last time I talked to a live person that wasn't being too friendly to me...

How do you put service request? My application passed 5 months... thinking of putting in service request..
-
Congratulations!!! quick question, did you call them at all when you reached 5 months of waiting? if so what did they say?
-
Sadly enough, five months is "still within normal processing times". Our petition took almost 6 months. You can call, it doesn't hurt to do so. I called three times and finally was able to put in a service request (after I started to cry, LOL). After that request, our petition was approved three weeks later...not sure if that had anything to do with it or not. I think not as it was close to 6 months. Hang in there, it will come. Good luck with everything.
I don't want to cry on the phone, I only cry behind closed doors! haha

Five months is a long time to wait for anything but it is common for this type of thing with USCIS now. Its unlikely there is any real problem with your case; they are simply busy. The holidays dont help of course but they just add a few days really.
These service requests are also common. Everyone I have seen resulted in the same thing which was a message saying they were working on the case as time would allow.
Doesnt hurt to call but may just add to the overall frustration when it produces no real results. Same for trying to get help from a politician. They all have staff trained to placate people on these issues. Our Senators office was worthless even though they had people with over 20 years of experiance. It took two months to get an answer which they sent to the wrong address. My husband found out more himself & the Senators office admitted the info they found was outdated & wrong. These are the same people that havent dont anything about the immigration process for 60 years.
I am an expert in waiting after the 408 days my case took. My husband met with USCIS several times in person trying to see what was going on. They could not say why it was taking so long. The responce he got was "this just never happens". Really? It happens to many of us as we see here all the time.
The good thing is you are at the 5 month mark so it really wont be too much longer.
Wow.. I didn't know you have to wait for 408 days.. I just hope mine isn't taking that long otherwise I'm going go crazy

Things have slowed down some from other posts I read, plus its the holidays so I am not expecting things to pick up until after the new year. Yours taking longer means mine will take longer ....
Not sure if making a call will light any fires just because of the holidays... trust me I want you to get yours ASAP as that moves mine closer to someones desk.
Last time I checked my timeline the estimate has moved out two more weeks so I think the trend is longer waits....
Yeah.. You're right about the holiday.. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and then New Year.. Sometimes I wish I sent in my application in May instead of June...
