Hello everyone! Sorry to post a CR1 in the K1 forum, but there isn't that much information out there from Argentina for us married couples...
Anyway, our interview is on Tuesday, and I was wondering how long does it take to get the passport back once you are approved?
Thanks for your help!
-
congratulations!

What documents are you all gathering to take to interview as for as evidence of relationship!! I'm gathering up our phone bills, Skype chats and emails, pics from wedding , someone told me to get two notorized statements from 2 family members on each side to state that they approve our marriage! Any other ideas?? How far back can you go with Skype chat conversations
We're taking about 500 photos (including our wedding album), plane tickets, our party favor from the wedding, skype conversations and phone records. Apparently the Buenos Aires embassy loves pictures but rarely asks for any of the other evidence...we'll see!
5 days until the first June interview!!!!!!

LOL I enjoyed my sleep after getting our interview date. Now I'm sleepless again because we leave for Montreal in three days. I've gone over our paperwork for the bazillionth time to make sure everything is in order.
We're crossing by land, very convenient for us!
I know a few that have bought their tickets in advance, for a week or two weeks after the interview, and also got insurance on them. If they had to, they could change the dates.
Thanks Sheeshkabelle! I've gone through a mental checklist of all our paperwork a ridiculous amount of times too! I'm sooo nervous...
Safe travels to Montreal!

Any of you guys out there buy your plane tickets yet? I don't want to jinx anything by doing it ahead of time, but flights are so expensive right now, and the more we wait the more expensive they are going to be.

Mrs. Frankbot: I asked you to get milk from the grocery store! Why didn't you get milk?
Frankbot: I have no record of milk in my system. Please wait 15 business days for milk to be entered in to the system. Can I help you with anything else today?
hahaha dying!!!

First off congratulations on your case complete!
If they are truly done scheduling interviews until next month I will probably lose it. I can't imagine Buenos Aires or Santiago have already exhausted their appointments for May. I just called the DOS, but the operator said nothing had been scheduled yet. At first he couldn't find either case then he checked another database and found it. I will probably call NVC later tonight if I don't get an email from them.
As I understand it the embassies and consulates throughout the world send the NVC a list of open interview dates for the following month by the 2nd week of the month. The NVC then assigns interviews based on the case complete date until that embassy or consulate no longer has any open slots. I would think that as more cases are completed that they would continue to schedule interviews as long as there are open slots. There is evidence that this is the case by those that received their interview dates after the second week of the month.
All I want is an interview date in May so we can start planning for life together here in the US. Come on NVC, don't let me down!
Thank you!!! I know, my husband and I agreed that it seems unlikely that Buenos Aires has completely filled up for May--and I can't imagine that Santiago has either. It feels like there aren't many of us out there compared to other consulates.
We also had some doubts about what good it does to call NVC or DOS now. I may have misunderstood, but don't we get an email after our interview is scheduled? Or is it only when the consulate receives the case?
-
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! I'm itching to start calling to ask about the interview dates too!
I know, me too! When were you thinking of starting to call?
-
Thank you all for your help and support!! Don't know what I would do without it!
-
CASE COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So excited....the operator gave me the same line about the NVC being done scheduling interviews for this month...we'll see!!
-
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone!!! What an exciting week!

Hey everyone...I had to send the DS-230 again because NVC basically lost it (they tried to give me some ####### about how the form was "expired" at first). The package got there this morning...any thoughts on when we might have a CC?
-
Saylin, put me down for an RFE...just got the checklist email...grrrrr
-
Okay, just got off the phone with someone that actually knew what they were doing...operator mentioned that even though the AOS and IV were sent together (in my case since we were using a lawyer), they can be processed at two different times. That would explain why they are saying that they haven't received our DS-230, even though we sent everything together. In hind-sight, makes sense...I'll still be watching my email for a checklist, though.
-
Got...and paid...MY AOS INVOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Saylin...turns out it was my name causing the issues, my file now reflects the last name Lowman
)
YAY!!!
-
One more question--should I wait until the checklist is issued for the DS-230 before I send a new one in? How long might this take?
-
So I'm trying to change my address on USCIS' site, but I'm a little confused. Is my application still 'pending'?
-
Well there's your reason. You have to sign AND date the forms! Did you not see the date box next to the signature one?
The date on the forms are for OMB; it's not an expiration of the form.
But we did, we did! haha...We dated the forms in March. So angry!!
THis means $100 overnight fee from Argentina...oh well, there are worse things...thanks for the replies, everyone!
