  1. @yonglin - Congrats! & thanks for your information...Im definitely starting to understand now...My husband wants to go to College, and we'd kinda like to get the rest of our life started sometime soon! We filed last June & have still not recieved Green Card. Im hoping he will recieve it at least before EAD expires! Planning to call and file a service request next week - any other advice on what to do to speed it up?

One more question, my employment has changed in the time since filing - is there any paperwork or updating that I need to submit as far as all that goes?

    Thanks! :)

  2. Can I ask a maybe naive question? I haven't been doing as much reading now that my *Husband* is here with me, so I'm not quite the expert that I seemed to become while going through the 129F process...

...Why is everyone in such a rush to get the greencard? I mean, with the EAD/AP you can work and travel...so what are you waiting for? Im looking forward to the greencard so that we can file a FAFSA and he can start taking college classes...but is there something else that Im unaware of?

My apologies if this is a total DUH moment...

    ;)

  3. Your form sounds complete. Here's my copy/paste answer I've posted many times before.

Look at your DS-3025. If it has the ALL of the following items, you don't need an I-693 (Adults 19-49 yrs old).

    1. Shots marked with a date (at least one of a series)

    •MMR

•Td or Tdap or DT or DTP or DtaP (One no longer than 10 years ago, ie.have a booster)

•Varicella or VH written by it if you had chickenpox

•Influenza **see note below because you are most likely okay without it.

    2. Everything else marked not age appropriate

    3. RESULTS section filled in with "incomplete" and "may be eligible for blanket waiver" ticked.

    4. Signed and dated by the doctor

If it's not completed like that then see a civil surgeon for the I-693. If it is complete, send a photocopy of your DS-3025.

The USCIS is supposed to have your K1 medical files, but sometimes lose them or fail to match them up with your AOS. Do not get another exam unless you get an RFE that says they do not have results of your medical. It means they lost them, but you are probably stuck with paying for a new exam. Those kinds of RFE's are not about the immunizations or the form I-693; they are because USCIS failed to match up your other medical exam results with your AOS application.

**Note on flu shot: Flu shots are required for adults of all ages (changed Nov 2010) if your UK exam was between (Oct 1 and March 31). But if the AOS adjudicator picks up your case when it is not flu season, you will be excused. And the reverse is true. The adjudicator picks up your case during flu season, but sees it was NOT flu season when you had your medical exam, you are also excused because the date they go by is the date of your exam to determine if you were current on that date. Keep in mind that if you go to a civil surgeon for an I-693, then you are resetting the medical exam date for immunizations and you may have to get second doses of shots or a flu shot to become current on your new immunization date of record.

I realize I am replying to an old post, and also that this question has been asked & asked over and over, and now I am THAT annoying person, sorry. Since my Husband has arrived I have not had the time to do the usual VJ stalking that helped me through the 129F process...I have tried reading through other posts and am getting contradicting answers...so I am hoping I can ask my question and get a quick, straight forward answer :)

My Husbands DS-3025 has dates posted by the TD, MMR and Varicella (which according to this particular post would mean that we do not need the I-693)...but then they are ticked as 'insufficent time interval' and at the bottom has the 'Applicant may be eligible for blanket waivers because vaccinations not medically approrprite' box ticked...

Please can someone tell me - do we need the I-693, or not?

Yours answers are VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! :)

...again, i do apologize for being THAT annoying, ask the same question over and over again person...but im driving myself crazy with this one...

  4. All that matters is your current income...so calculate your current pay per week and times by 52 weeks - that will be your income this year.

I also made less money last year as I was working on a Cruise Ship half the year, I told my fiance that if they asked to just explain that to them, but to ensure them that I am currently earning above the poverty limit. They did ask, and he told them the situation, and it seemed to be ok for them.

Your household size will only include the people that YOU suuport...YOU and your FIANCEE.

    Good Luck!

  5. I had this same dilemna a few weeks ago when deciding how to mail a package to my fiance in NICARAGUA!

Fed Ex, DHL, UPS were all over 200.00$!...so I decided to take a chance and go with the U.S. Postal Service (Even though Ive heard international Postal Services are sometimes a distaster!)

I sent my package through USPS EXPRESS with tracking and it arrived to NICARAGUA safely in 5 DAYS! :)

  6. Hi, I also met my Fiance while working on Cruise Ships...I decided to take the K-1 Route, only because we were not assigned to the same ship so I resigned and went home to wait the process out. If we had been together, we would have gotten married and filed the CR1, definitely!

I think the big question is, after she gets the Visa...do you plan on returning to ships? If not, I would definitely get married as you were planning and then file the CR1...if the interview can coordinate with her next vacation, great...but if not, she can just go home when its inerview time.

The thing to remember is, once you get your second notice of approval, you do have a certain amount of time to work with in which to schedule your interview...so even if you plan on staying on ships, you may be able to schedule the interview within a vacation. As long as you will be together during the process, might as well go the less expensive route that allows her to work right away after entering the country!

One more thing, I researched it alot before making our decision...its definitely not possible to adjust status from a C1D Visa.

    Good luck!!

    :)

  7. Hi! I've tried to search for the answer because I know it's here somewhere but I can't seem to find it...

My fiance's old passport expires in November 2012 (this year) so he got a new one already as it says in the 129-F instructions that the passport must be valid for 6 months after interview date...

Question is - which passport information should we put on the DS-126?

Also, which passport will they put the visa in?

Is there anything else I should know about him having two passports?

    Thanks!

    :)

  8. Was I wrong to have my husband sign all the forms he would possibly need to sign when I was out there on my last trip (February)??

Chastitiynjoel - I was also with my fiance in February, but personally thought it was better to make sure everything would be up to date considering I knew the interview wouldnt be scheduled until at least May!

But, Im wondering...Youre the Petitioner, correct? So which forms are you talking about that you had him sign? Youll be sending up to date proof of relationshp closer to the interview date, right? From what Ive read about DR on VJ, its not the easiest to get through...so I would definitely suggest everything be current!

  9. I have sent through the USPS 4 times to Peru... Only 2 times did the package or letter arrive. It is not reliable to Peru. I asked for delivery confirmation and the post office told me they can not do it. I am worried if I need to send something to my wife for the visa application. Maybe Fed Ex is better, but I don't know what they charge? 200 dollars???? really?

I checked the price at fed ex/dhl/ups for sending a box internationally (12x12x8?) and the price was at least $215...

I do believe that the price for sending a thin folder (only containing a few documents) is more around the $90-100 range! Good Luck!

  10. Ive gone back and forth on this decision as well, but I believe that we have sufficient proof of our relationship including call/chat logs, photos, itineraries, boarding passes, passport stamps, etc...and to me it sounds like you guys do as well!

If you havent already, I would definitely recommend reading the Embassy Reviews for Venezuela (which you can find a link for at the top of each VJ page)...reading these will give you a feel for if others thought it was beneficial/crucial to attend their fiances interview in your Beneficiarys country!

    Good Luck!

    :)
