thanks all for the congrats and advice! it is appreciated!!
Have you seriously waited until you got the NOA2 to send anything to your fiance?
We used the regular mail for everything going there and had an awesome VJ friend that once hand carried certain documents back to us. The only thing I had to send last minute was my tax documents because the new year happened and we got the NOA2 in the end of January. He had last years tax documents WHEN WE FILED.
What are you waiting for? How long did it take your Valentine's card or Christmas card or any of the love letters that you sent to get there?
Edited to add:
From the time of the NOA2 to the interview for us was 2 months. If regular mail doesn't get there in 30 days, you can always send them DHL or Fed-Ex then.
EminTX - Yes, I have seriously waited until receiving the NOA2 before sending the interview documents to my fiance...
For many reasons actually...
First - I wanted to be the one who organizes it completely as to make sure everything is included and nothing was misplaced while waiting...
Second - Obviously I didnt know when i would receive the NOA2, and wanted to be sure that all my information (paystubs, taxes, dates on signed forms) were up to date at the time of sending!
Thirdly - Since I knew I was going to be mailing last minute documents (2011 taxes, updated chat/call logs)anyway, I saw no reason to spend more money to mail things seperately, and thought it best that I send everything after NOA2, all together.
Also, he was working on a Cruise Ship during most of this process, and my letters and cards were mailed there...not to his home country, which is why Im not sure of the reliability of the mail system in Nicaragua.

HOLA!! YAY! SOOO happy!
Just got NOA2 from CSC after 134 days!
Now hoping the rest of the process will fly by smoothly so we can be together soon!
Does anyone have opinions (good or bad) on using the US Postal Service to mail internationally? Should I try it, or should I pay the 200$ and go with FedEx? (Might as well buy a plane ticket for a few hundred more and fly it there myself though
...too bad its not that easy
!!)
Thanks!
...wishing luck to all who are still waiting!

NOA2 coming soon??? hope so!
I'll think nice thoughts for you guys, if you do the same for us!
-
I think for now, just make sure you save all your phone records, emails, boarding passes, receipts from being in his country, and take lots of photos when you're together! This will help in the future when he gets to the Interview Stage.
Other than that, if you're planning on waiting 2-3 years, Im pretty sure that all 'documents' sent with the initial package should be completed closer to your sending out the petition...This whole process usually takes just under a year, and you must get married within 90 days of your fiance entering the country, so I'm thinking youre planning on waiting at least a year to file the petition? I suggest waiting until 2-3 months before you plan on sending the packet to start putting it together!
Good Luck!

I am trying to prepare for mailing the interview package to my fiance in Nicaragua...
Looking for advice/opinions on the MOST RELIABLE/least expensive way to mail packages to Nicaragua??
USPS, FEDEX, UPS....??? Opinions/experiences are appreciated
Thanks!

good luck!

I just put the date he arrived in the US, and the expiration date of his i-95...I did not include the numbers that were on the i-95 because they do not properly fit into the boxes provided...note I have not yet recieved NOA2 so I cannot tell you if it worked or not!

Hello!
Im sure I am still at least a couple months out from my NOA2, but I am going to visit my fiance in TWO WEEKS! YAY!
Anyway, I plan on bringing all 'proof of ongoing relationship' evidence that I have up until now...but what else could I bring now that he will need for the interview? I know I will have to email him some things later to be printed, but I would love to be able to leave anything that requires a signature with him when I go this time as to avoid 'snail mail' at a later date...is this possible? Or do the financial paperwork/employment letters have to be more up to date with the time of the interview? Advice much appreciated!
Also, I've read that certain Embassy's dont allow 'Binders' because of how the interview windows are designed...does anybody know if it's this way in Managua, Nicaragua? Or how I could find out? I've checked the Embassy website and couldn't find anything pertaining to this...
thanks again!

I live in Minnesota, I called the DMV here to ask the very same question...and I found out that,
Even if the Beneficiary has a license from their own country they will still have to take both the written and driving test....the only difference here (MN) is that if they had a previous license they would have to be driving on a "permit" for 3 months instead of being able to take the drivers test right away...
I would just give the DMV a call to check if there would be any benefit for your state...

I found this one on google...

Good luck!

Hi! I also have Verizon and have asked them multiple times if there is anyway of printing out text messages and date/time information together...everytime they said no
I plan on sending the Usage Details showing the dates and times that he and I texted each other, and then I will also forward all text messages to my email and put them in a microsoft word document together...It sucks that the messages won't have the date/time attached, but oh well - I'll still going include both as more proof.

I doubt there are many Nicaraguans around this forum, but if there are, there is a new telephone service developed by an acquaintance of mine. It consists on having a virtual Nicaraguan phone number in the U.S. While there are many people that prefer to use MagicJack or other VOIP services, there are others whose relatives back home don't have access to internet or a computer 24/7. For those, this service seems to be very helpful since your relatives will be calling a local Nica number and you will be receiving the calls on your cell phone or land line here in the States. This is the website if anyone is interested:

thanks, i will remember this for the future

I suggest posting in the regional forum so that more people from Nicuaragua will see it.
Good luck!

I know, I know...people ask this all the time...but what im looking for here is more of 'opinions and advice' from people who have actually been through the interview in a LA country...
Yes, i've checked the embassy's website and from what I could see it didn't suggest the Petitioner be there like how it did on the Dominican Republic's site...
I recently read a review of an interview in Managua, and she made it sound like she was very thankful that she went...thinking they may not have been approved had she not been there. Before I read this, I was pretty content in the fact that I would not be able to make it to the interview and had no worries about not being approved...now I feel a little worried
And yes, I also know all the benefits and that it would be great and lovely if I could make it to the interview, but since I am spending two weeks there in Feb I just don't know that I will be able to manage another trip within just a few months...
Once again, all LA interview experiences (especially from Managua) would be much appreciated!
Thanks again!

We met while working on the same Cruise Ship...
...I truly believe that everything happens for a reason
-
Congratulations! and thanks so much for your story!!
-
The C1-D VISA which is what most Cruise Ship employees enter the US with, is a VISA that does not allow adjustment of status.
Costy&Amy - You have the option of either the K-1 Visa or the Cr-1 Visa. The Cr-1 is about a 1000 dollars cheaper in the end, and would allow your fiance to work in the US immediately after he arrives.
-
Does anyone happen to know if Petitioner must also be present for K-1 interview in NICARAGUA??
thanks!!
-
My advice is to definitely read all of the guides here on VJ - they are very helpful and make the process easy to understand!
My fiance works on a Cruise Ship so I also had some issues with different things like addresses etc; so maybe your situation is a little like mine?
Anyway, the only time he WILL have to return to his country is after your second approval for the medical exam and the interview. So, you could either wait until the next time he plans on going (as long as its not so long that the NOA2 expires) OR he could take a little time off work and go home only for the medical and interview and then return to work once he receives his visa.
In my personal situation - My fiance's work contract will end in February and he will be on vacation for two months...Im hoping that I would receive the NOA2 around April in which case he will not be returning to the ship at all - he will come straight to me!
Hope this was a little helpful...Good luck on your journey!
-
My fiance also frequently refers to me as 'esposa'
.... I have read that you are allowed to black out any information that you find too personal on letters/cards. I would just black out the word, or sentence that it is included in and still use your letters as additional evidence of relationship....
Good luck!
