Sophie & Nate reacted to EAbbas in Don't make plans until VISA is in your hands!!
Recently I've seen a number of posts with issues regarding not getting the visa in time for flight schedules or other plans that have been made. I just want to say that on this forum there are many many many posts reminding people to NEVER purchase tickets or confirm plans until YOU HAVE YOUR VISA IN YOUR HANDS!!!!
There are many things that can happen.... you can be approved but the visa still may take a few days to get to your doorstep,
I've seen several issues recently:
Putting in job resignation notices before the interview then doesn't have a job during the wait for the visa
making wedding plans and the visa isn't issued before that date making all the plans go out the window (at least have a temporary plan not concrete)
scheduling appointments and flights before visa is issued and then not being able to use those tickets because you have no visa to travel and either losing all that money or having to pay a fee to reschedule the flights/appointments
Please please... remember that you do not know for sure anything until you get to interview... if they give you the visa the same day... thats' the BEST and most wonderful thing... but until you have your visa in your hand... PLEASE DO NOT purchase plane tickets, put in your resignations, or make permanent changes to your life .... until that moment that visa has touched your hands....
WIshing all of you a swift journey thru immigration and a fast receipt of all your VISAS...

Sophie & Nate reacted to sueling in APPROVED!!
Hi everyone!
We got approved today and it was the single most anti-climatic experience ever! Was last to be interviewed, saw everyone prior to me get denied *VERY scary!* The interview lasted literally like 5 minutes, the later half of which the CO spent typing away on the computer.
Here are the questions I got asked incase anyone wants them!
1. What is your fiance's name?
2. When was he born?
3. What is his mother's name?
4. Where does he work now? (He doesn't at the moment and they knew that since we submitted the affidavit of support, so I think he was testing me)
5. How many times have you visited the US?
6. How many times have you visited the US to visit his family?
7. Have you met his family?
8. How many times have we met in person?
9. Where in the US does he live?
10. What is it like in that part of the US? (My fiance lives in Ft. Lauderdale)
11. How long have you been together?
12. Why did you wait so long before deciding to get married? (We have been in this LDR thing for 6.5 years)
That was when he stopped asking questions and started typing away at his computer. HE DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT THE MOUNTAIN OF EVIDENCE I BROUGHT ALONG HAHAHAHA! I'm almost upset that I didn't get to use all those explanations I've worked up in my mind In fact, he didn't even TOUCH it (When I say mountain, I mean mountain haha! It was like 5 inches thick of evidence in that sense, I basically frontloaded them... if they had gone through the documents )
Then he turned to me and was like, "Oh btw, your visa is approved!"
All the best to those with interviews soon! Be confident and smile!!

Nothing to be scared by. It's so anti-climatic to most people. Even if you forgot a document, it's like an RFE--send it in and they issue the visa once they get it.

You are almost there! It is stressful but you sound organised!
Here's my advice:
1.I took copies of absolutely everything, all the forms, NOA's, medical stuff etc. (of course it wasn't required but I wanted to be prepared) I had them organised in an extendable folder.
2.Read the reviews of London and see what people were asked for, that helps to know what to expect: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=United%20Kingdom
3.Make sure you have the evidence required for your Affidavit of support.
4.Prepay.
5.Take your debit card and some cash. (I can'tremember what you need for DHL but there are snacks and coffee you can buy too.
6.Take a magazine or small book....you might have along wait. (but you might not) My wait was almost 3 hours.
Oh and uh...take your passport. Probably obvious...but just in case!
Good luck!! It'll be great.
Helen

It is not a requirement. People take them just to have a spare in case they happened to be missing from the file. It's rare, but it has happened.
Review the list (READ the details) of what to bring. Make sure your birth certificate has what they say it should. Make sure your passport has the length of time remaining before expiration. It's all on the webpage here:
http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html
Other than that--
appointment letter
receipt for paying the visa fee
way to pay courier (Visa, Mastercard, Solo, Switch, Electron, Delta) £14.80

Sophie & Nate reacted to JoannaV in Co-sponsors
For London you can have a co-sponsor. If it makes you feel better then by all means get his parents to complete an I-134 and provide their tax returns. But you may not need to submit that paperwork at the interview: you need only hand it over if they question the sufficiency of your fiance's income. Even if it just gives you peace of mind it's worth it :-)

If his income is over the minimum requirement then he is fine :-) Plus he has savings so it becomes even more obvious that he meets the requirement :-) There are no extra requirements beyond the basic ones. That is, if you meet the requirement then it really does not matter about anything else! They don't go, "oh he earns enough but he's a student and hmm I don't know..."
In addition to the tax returns and proof of assets, make sure you have proof of his current wage from his employer and proof of his monthly veteran benefits.

Hi Sophie and Nate
I am also in the same position as you, well maybe 2 weeks behind. My medical is done and packet 3 sent and I called the embassy in London today to see if they received my packet 3. The nice man on the phone said it takes them 2-4 weeks to process the DS-230 Part 1 etc etc and I should call back then and he would be able to TELL ME THE INTERVIEW DATE OVER THE PHONE!!! Therefore, seems like you should be calling them round about now! beats waiting for the postman :-)
Find their number here,
http://london.usembassy.gov/visa_contact_information.html
have have you case number handy.
With Regards to your interview and photos, no harm in taking some. I sent photos of me with my finaces family and him with mine etc as proof of our continual relationship. I have also read alot on line that you should take copies of everything you have ever submitted to them to the interview, like all you I-129f forms etc etc, as there has been reports that certain forms have been "mislayed" and if your able to produce them there and then, then it can only go in your favour. Therefore, whilst you wait for your interview date, wont hurt to get you finace to resign (if you didnt take photocopies of the original) forms which required his signatures and post them over to you.
Good Luck!!!!! I know how you feel, this final hurdle is the worst :-(

Sophie & Nate reacted to Nich-Nick in Interview Information
Just saw the other post that came while I was replying my first time. You do NOT need any of the I-129 packet, or NOA2, or extra signed originals from your fiance, or his birth certificate. Just take photocopies of any of your originals that you want back like your birth certificate, divorce decree, military records--anything that applies to you that you are required to bring.
Spare copies of your forms that you sent DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, DS-230, part 1 would be the only "just in case" thing you would need in case they mislaid them. The I-129F petition to USCIS is done and dusted and this is now the Dept of State and the visa application stage.
PS to anybody else reading---This is London. Other consulates may be different.

Sophie & Nate reacted to Nich-Nick in Medical and disclosing information
I doubt they go back and review your checklist. They just need word from your doctor to clear you and send you on your way. If you think the letter sounds incriminating, ask them for another that clearly states you are fine now, explaining if the letter isn't favorable it will delay your US entry.

I had the same thing.
My doctor wrote a letter saying they (4 bouts over a 5 year period) were situational and I was not a danger to myself or anyone else. It's a procedure that you have to go through. Don't worry about it, I'm sure it'll be fine.
EDIT: I also asked my doctor for a copy of her letter, so I can keep it with the rest of my paperwork for future reference.
