  1. Not that I particularly agree with an across the board delay just because you are from a certain country, but...Obama's executive order for DACA in 2012 inadvertently delayed just about all the CSC K1's for a similar amount of time.

So I guess, just like anything related to the USCIS, they'll just have to "suck it up", or "bend over"...which ever you prefer.

You can also call USCIS at 1-800-375-5283, I'm sure someone there will be able to help you!

  2. Most are probably long moved on from VJ, but I'm just curious how everyone from the DACA delay days (or we can pretend it wasn't caused by DACA if you are so inclined ;) ) are doing.

I'm visiting VJ because we are getting our N-400 package ready, and I'm sure some are in the same boat.

After my wive's medical delay, pretty much everything else has gone smoothly (10y green cards for her and the boys arrived a few months ago).

Easy-peasy compared to the NOA2 delay fiasco.

  3. Hi en0602,

I'm on the same board now as you was before. Mike Honda is congressman on my district. And I've contacted to his office and they said that they dont have jurisdiction on expedite the process to USCIS. They only able to check the status of service request. I feel so hopeless(((( please help...

I have some question to you:

    1. How did you ask them to help?

    2. Did they told that cannot expedite ?

    Thanks

You need to be one of the "1000 crane$!"

  4. Well, well, well...

Honda narrowly won his election again in 2014, but the truth is coming out. I guess I needed to send him a $pecial request to get help:

"Rep. Mike Honda, who has survived eight election campaigns, is facing his toughest political battle yet — a House ethics investigation that includes allegations he maintained a list of top donors called the “1,000 Cranes” who were fast-tracked for VIP treatment on matters like visas and constituent service."

    Honda, what a friggin @h0le.

  5. I'm not a doctor or an expert, but this is my personal experience and anecdotal observation:

Rifampin is pretty harsh. Definitely don't want to drink alcohol with it, it is pretty hard on the liver by itself. If you are taking other medication, it may greatly effect its metabolism (induces cytochrome P-450 metabolism), which can significantly lessen their effects. I personally would not take rifampin again unless it was absolutely necessary.

My son who just immigrated here had to take isoniazid for 9 months for latent TB. It is also potentially a liver toxin, however, he didn't have any noticeable negative reactions during his treatment, though he takes no other medication nor drinks alcohol.

  6. this is really awful, and what i now realize is that K1 visa are now being dealt with more faster than green cards for immediate family/spouse who r already married. No offence to the fiancées but they r getting thru more faster than us who r married.

Now, yes. In 2012-2013 for CSC K1 filers, not really. But I see it was before your time.

I wonder why all the VJ peanut gallery brain trust members who denied DACA's involvement in the USCIS slowdowns are silent now?

  7. Wow, it's things like this that makes it so chilling. Thank god you got your wife and kids out of there just in time. But I'm sure it's still emotionally hard to see something like that.

Thankfully my fiance's family is all in the Metro Manila area and unaffected. But, with 20 typhoons hitting every year, that's no guarantee something like this won't come again, and further up north. My fiance will be leaving in December, and, in my book, can't be soon enough.

We were in Coron at this time last year, a first class tourist town, another area in the direct path of Haiyan. One of the tourist attractions of Coron is the giant cross on top of Mt. Tapyas, which happened to be the destination of our very first evening together (in picture below). It's gone now.

We also have fond memories of Coron from our stay there 2 years ago.

  8. Does anyone have any good news to report on this? Has anyone had recent contact with friends or relatives from the affected area?

In tacloban it is pretty grim. My wife was finally able to contact a friend yesterday there as cell service is being restored. Her family that was in Tacloban survived, though with some injuries, and are staying in Samar. It was good they left right away, as it is not a good scene in Tacloban at the moment.

Electricity isn't expected to be restored anytime soon.

What is needed the most in the short term: water, food that doesn't require water or cooking, topical medicines, bandages & antibiotics, and body bags.
