  1. ivana we are a bit more lucky. our AOS interview is in 2 weeks, so there is some movement and the USCIS website reflects that. However the AP and EAD are stuck in the initial review. I do not mind calling the USCIS and asking what is taking so long, but I begin to suspect USCIS flagged our case for some reason. Not sure we are called for the interview, but perhaps the interview is required for the AP to get approved. But then, you do not have the interview, right?

We were guessing why we were selected for the interview and the only reason I can think of is that we did not submit any evidence with the initial AOS package. Were we required to do so? Or may be there is something else?

Also, we have 3 interviews: the wife and 2 kids. Based on the appointment time it seems there will be three interviews. What questions will the kids (9 and 12 yo) be asked?

I just only submitted our marriage certificate as evidence in our AOS. My POE was on Sep 2 and we just married on Sep 15. Our interview will be on Dec 22 and I have got notification of my EAD and AP on Nov 23.

Timeline of everyone may differ from each other due to certain reason, I think. Your case may be same to those who got their AP and EAD together with their GC approval. You will get it on time. No worry... just be prepare for your interview. :)

  2. I have interview on 22nd Dec. We got married on Sep 15. We have joint checking account. We don't have life insurance yet and no utility bills at all as we are living in his sister 6-rooms house (kinda traditional living). We have our wedding photos, short trip photos, family photos of us celebrating birthday party at home, my school payment by his credit acc and our vacation Itinerary to Las Vegas in Jan. Plus, he's trying to add me under his BOA credit acc and Costco American Express acc.

    That's all I have. Hope it's enough... :(

  3. On my appointment letter, it has a list of what they ask me to bring, i'm also bringing the FULL AOS package that i sent them. And also any other papers i acquired in between then and now. Hope this helps. Good Luck on your appointment.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have got their list of what I have to bring. But, I didn't do medical as I did my K1 visa medical within a year. I did summit my hubby's 3 years tax-refunds as well. Anyway, I will bring full my AOS package. I just worried about your evidence of our legal marriage. We don't have any insurance yet.

  6. Congrats on yr interview . Most of the persons who applied for AOS from K1 had their case transfered to California Service Center for faster processing (without an interview) --as in my wife AOS petition . Good luck on yr interview .

yeah, I wished my case to be transferred to CSC in stead of taking interview. But, unfortunately, thing happened like this to me. I am a bit nervous I am worried about my interview...

  7. UPDATE : GOOD NEWS-I received a Text/ Email from USCIS -Decision

On November 17, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later.

That is an APPROVAL for I-485 . I am so happy that our journey is coming to an end . I think I am one of the few Sept 2011 Filers that is approved so fast . Just hang in there . Thanks to all my fellow VJ members .

Wowwwwwwww.... happy for you too... Congrats!!

  8. by the way, i did not go with the civil surgeon, my vaccinations were not complete, im missing second doses of some of them, i sent the vaccination records with the "blanket waiver" note, i got my job permit 2 weeks ago and i havent had a rfe.

Yeah, I didn't go with the CS too. My vaccination were not complete as I m missing 2nd dose of Venicilla and it was checked in blanket waiver box. I just send all my doc of my medical which I did for my K1 visa in Singapore. I haven't got RFE so far too :) I have done my biometrics 10/21/2011 and still no news. :)

  9. Permanent residents are free to travel outside the United States, and temporary or brief travel usually does not affect your permanent resident status. If it is determined, however, that you did not intend to make the United States your permanent home, you will be found to have abandoned your permanent resident status. A general guide used is whether you have been absent from the United States for more than a year. Abandonment may be found to occur in trips of less than a year where it is believed you did not intend to make the United States your permanent residence. While brief trips abroad generally are not problematic, the officer may consider criteria such as whether your intention was to visit abroad only temporarily, whether you maintained U.S. family and community ties, maintained U.S employment, filed U.S. income taxes as a resident, or otherwise established your intention to return to the United States as your permanent home. Other factors that may be considered include whether you maintained a U.S. mailing address, kept U.S. bank accounts and a valid U.S. driver’s license, own property or run a business in the United States, or any other evidence that supports the temporary nature of your absence.

  10. we sent

    1) emails from both of us...

    2) snapshots in skype and print out history

    3) evidence of his 3 different trips to me (air tickets, couple photos, receipts)

    4) skype call, rabtel call history

    5) B'day cards by mail (we only hav 2 card)

In my K1 visa interview, the officer didn't ask any evidence about our relationship even I prepared for that. It might be more than enough I think. So, I just wanna suggest you to send every necessary evidence when you fill I-129F to avoid RFE.
