  1. Be careful about mentioning anything about her assisting with care of the grandkids. Many a grandparent have been denied for this purpose as it can be seen as taking a job away from a US citizen.

Thank you. We only mentioned that we want her to welcome her new first generation in the letter, didn't mention to baby sit.

  2. I recently helped my in-laws get a Tourist Visa to visit the US from Colombia. It was a fairly easy process...but I'm an attorney so... But we just filled out the online application located at: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

Follow the steps. You will have to provide her inlaws with an invitation letter, and if you plan on covering the expenses, you will have to provide financial documentation. 6 moths bank statements, letter from your employer showing your salary, pay stubs, tax returns and w2's. They will have to go to the interview at the closest US embassy...and it will be either approved or denied. We were fortunate, my in-laws were approved on the spot within 15 minutes! Best of luck.

for the bank statements, any idea of the amount? For pay stubs, we both are making over $3,000 per bi-weekly.

We both are us citizen and planning to bring my mom to welcome her grandkids (I'm having twins) in 3 months. Her immigrant visa is in processing but only NOA1 stage. Is there any suggestion to my case?

    Thank you.

  3. Hello!

My ceremony was great. In Sacramento today we had almost 700 new citizen. We had to be there by 8.30 and USCIS collected all the green cards and some volunteers explained to us how to fill the forms for Soc.Security and to vote.

We officially started at 10 am and in 30 minutes we finished all.

After that we where in line to pick up our citizen certificate. By 11.30 I was done.

    Good luck to everybody!

That's awsome experience. I also arrived early around 7:45 even though the appointment time is 8:30. i got seat in third row so you can imagine how early I am. Lolz ?but it's good cause we can leave early. I am from Burma (Myanmar) and only two person including me.

Lollo, even though we couldn't meet in person outside, I am glad I am attending oath ceremony with my VJ Sep friend together.

Now we have done my journey but I ll be here again to petition my mom. Good luck to all my fellow Sep filers. Yours is next. Be patient and everything will be alright. Thank you VJ, thank you all.

  4. Please any one had the interview of n400 in this month? Can you please post here your experience ( where, details ..)? Feeling curious and nervous!!

    Thank you in advance.

    Here's my experience! Good luck!?

my interview went smooth. IO is a nice lady. The first question she asked me is why I want to be U.S citizen. I answered it is because my husband is U.S citizen and I supposed to be. She laughed to my answer. My interview took about 30 mins. English and civic test took only about 5 mins. She asked me so many questions to our marriage. I feel like more than my green card interview but very friendly way, just like casual conversation.

    She asked me to read a sentence "what state has the most people?". And She asked me to write "California has the most people". The questions for civic test are;

    1) there are 4 amendments to the constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

    2) what is one right or freedom from the first amendment?

    3) who is the in charge of excecutive branch?

    4) if the president can no longer serve, who becomes president?

5)what is one reason colonists came to America?

    6) during the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?

Then she said I passed the English and civic test but she said she needs to go over the questions to my N400 form and asking spelling to the name, address, phone number, work...

In this point I asked her if it is possible I change my mind to add my husband last name to my name. (In our culture it is not necessary to take husband last name so that I didn't change when we married). She said she can change my last name to my husband but she can't add since my name is too long and they no longer do name change. I don't wanna take off my last name. So, I ended up keeping my current name. ?

After all the questions to N400, she let me sign in the sheet and hand me a paper to read. That's interview result!!!

    YES, I PASSED! ?

She also gave me notification to oath ceremony on Jan 21 2015. Wow...that's only 16 days away. Can someone update, please?

Thank you, everyone. Thank you, VJ. Thank you my fellow Sep filers.

  5. for what K-1 visa IR/CR-1 visa? !-129f petition at USCIS? !-130 at USCIS? how long before you get NOA1? NOA2? how long to respond to RFE how long to be approved after RFE ?How long for case number at NVC how long is the NVC process? How long for interview? how long I drive to work everyday? how long usually for what?

He's asking for lining up oath ceremony after citizenship interview. He mentioned it in his topic and this is under citizenship general discussion forum.

  6. Thank you, Alisya.
