  1. what is the difference between tourist visa and B 1/2 visa?

B1 is business visa - used to enter the US in order to visit a business fair or something like that

    B2 is the tourist visa

I applied for a toursit visa in Brazil, but they gave me a B1/2. So I can enter the country for business or leasure travel.

If you are planning to live in Brazil with your BF/Husband then as per me CR1 is waste of money and time just so he can met your family.

I would rather recomm that you move to Brazil settle there get a job, house, financials accounts, car etc. and same for him.

After that you can he can try for B1/2 showing all yours and his ties to Brazil and letting CO know your intent is just to go and see family.

Is this approach foolproof... no coz CO can always assume after you and him enter US in B1/2 he would file for AOS.

and that would be visa fraud

  2. I'm a US citizen that will soon marry my brazilian boyfriend in January IN Brazil. Our plan was to have our wedding in the US while he was on a tourist visa. However, his tourist visa was denied and after giving it much thought we decided NOT to file for a fiance visa because it would take too long. Now we will have to marry in Brazil. Once we are married, does anyone know if he applies for a tourist visa once again if it will be approved? Given that hes married to a US citizen anyway? Our plan is to live here in Brazil and only travel to the US for our honeymoon and meet my family. Any info would be greatly appreaciated.

If you're going to get married and live in Brazil, maybe you should file CR-1 and wait for approval. I don't think they'll ever give him a toursit visa being married to a US citizen.

That's what I would do if I were you.

Consider it an opinion. I'm not a speciaist

  3. Hello all,

Well It's been a lot of work; but we got our forms completed and sent in.

I-129F received by lockbox on 10/26/11

    USCIS Acceptance Confirmation 10/31/11

    Paper copy (Form I-797) 11/9/11

Please wish us luck and a million thanks for all the great help, guidance, and good vibes from everyone here. This is really a journey to remember and man am I a ball of nerves :)

We do have a question though, how long generally will it take before our "receipt number" will work with the USCIS website? I keep getting a "not valid / not-found" error. Is this common?

Excited, scared, and just totally jazzed... wow... I hope to be married soon :) :) :) :)

    Cheers,

    M@

I've heard some people saying they can't check their status online. Some of them called the USCIS and they say their website doesn't work very well. Keep trying and it might work one day...

    Good luck!

  4. Hi All-

On this very day one year ago, I was driving to Chicago to file for my Indian Visa for a business trip that changed my life and where I met the man of my dreams whom I will marry in less than 10 months. Today, I filed the I-129F petition in the mail for a K-1 Visa for my Indian fiance. Today, I committed to a new chapter in my life...Our visa journey "officially" begins! Now I get to hurry up and...wait! Praying that the approval comes sooner than later!!

    =) good luck!

  5. Please pray for us. Janeth lives in a small town just south of Mexico City where there have been numerous kidnappings. Actually, one of her uncles was kidnapped this year and help until his family paid the ransom. Police are not effective. she received a call yesterday from someone who told her she needed to pay him money to prevent her from being kidnapped. We are so upset and we need to be together her in the USA.
